Some people don't care about progression
I'd rather level up and keep getting currency to eventually buy the skins I want because that would make the grind worth it imo.
Also I ain't got five bux to drop on video game cosmetics.
You're robbing yourself out of progression
i'm pretty sure buying crates doesn't lower the level cap for you
You're robbing yourself out of progression
What progression?
As far as I can tell, leveling up gets me a loot box.
That's....it.
And I'm playing it to have fun.

I paid $100 for a skin in Smite
[editline]25th May 2016[/editline]
Worth it
High Noon is terrible because you have to use positioning and awareness to get 5 kills unlike half of the Q's in this game.
Or you could just have a Zarya on your team.

I could do a lot with $100 man....
You're robbing yourself out of progression
The levels max out at 131, then the progress bar just loops after that. There is no progression if it doesn't end.
Double Lucio on KotH is so grossly over powered, what the fuck.
You're robbing yourself out of progression
Robbing yourself of progression would be hacking so you don't get better despite winning, buying loot boxes is just buying cool skins rather than waiting for them.

But it made me a Gundam, it was very worth it you have to understand
Roadhog my favourite but every time a Tracer or Genji I hook warps around and ends up not in front of me so I miss a kill I feel cheated.

counterpoint: it would take maybe 550 crates/5,500 games/450-900 hours of actual gameplay to unlock all the skins, provided a decent spread of randomness and rarity, with duplicates granting money to buy the rarest items, provided you hold off on buying any items until you have exactly enough money to just buy what's not unlocked yet
If you're super hype for a specific skin and just want to boost your chances to earn it (or more likely, gather the currency to buy it outright), a crate pack might be a decent dollar-for-hour savings to those who can afford it. $1/crate feels pretty high for an entirely random selection (especially given the dismal selection of crap I've gotten in my first 15 boxes, I wouldn't consider dropping 20 bucks knowing this is how it would go down on average), but as some people have said, lots of people have pretty limited playtime (often due to jobs/school/shared computer/whatever), and don't mind pushing some of that progression out the window so they can spend the little time they ARE playing with the skin they like. Same goes for competitive gamers and/or streamers who want to have a recognizable identity
speaking of recognition, somebody we were fighting last night recognized me as 'THE dai' and thanked me for my D.Va tutorial. Neat! I was playing junkrat and their team stomped us tho
Is it wrong that every single hour I have in this game is on soldier 76
I love this character so much, he perfectly embodies everything I want out of a class in basically any FPS.

At least you got drawn to a character that isn't universally hated.

I think buying a two pack or five pack of crates for this game is perfectly reasonable. It's not enough to destroy any sense of progression, but it does give you a bit of a jumpstart and is a bit of fun in the context of a totally new game.
Upwards of ten crates, however, is getting a bit ridiculous.
How is it that when I play Reaper my guns have the effectiveness of a stray fart in the wind while enemy Reapers in games may as well have mini-nukes loaded :v:

Here is the rule about FPS games. Everyone does more damage then you regardless of what they are doing.
Had a pretty cool Hanzo duel today- we even let go of our ults at the same time, and they intertwined as they flew by. Didn't kill much, but was satisfying nonetheless.

I remember playing her one time on Hamnara or whatever the fuck that pink tree'd map is. I sat the entire first control point sitting at control point B putting turrets down. All I was doing. I had 8 around the main door frame alone. It was worth it just to see the first guy in the door get insta melted

i have tried to play reaper several times now and i just feel so weak
i see enemy reapers wrecking shit and it makes me mad that im such a shitter
How to play Reaper:
You: Better be right on their ass before shooting.
Them: Be halfway across the map and still have your shotgun blast take out half their health.

I think their shotgun has super high spread but decent damage for distance, so if you can hit fat targets (DVa mech, roadhog, reinhardt) they'll melt. Other characters you need to get a bit closer to and ideally ambush. It's fun teleporting right up behind a widowmaker so she doesn't hear footsteps before melting her
ALSO I want to do some testing but I think crouch-walking muffles/mutes footsteps, which is pretty important since they made it so you can hear enemies louder than teammates, and enemies who are considered good counters/'dangerous' to you it's amplified even more

:rrerr:
Some friends and I was playing and we ended up having three Meis on our team
we trapped a Tracer into our icewall corner and proceeded to bukkake her with ice vapors
and then a Reinhardt charged into us and killed all of us. The play of the game was fucking comedy seeing all these Meis being flung around by Reinhardt
This game is fun
