Even better.
Ya know, it feels really good being super hyped for a release and fully knowing the expectations meet the hype.

In that case.....
6-7 days left everyone!
Still disappointed that the game does not feature a whole new mode that sets itself apart from other Multiplayer games. A company as big as Blizzard should have come up with new mode.

I can forgive them for that. This game has to handle balancing very delicately. It's the reason why we didn't get CTF because some heroes would be way to good in it.
and if CTF turned out the way it is in TF2. It would just be Team Deathmatch.
I would like to see a mode similar to skirmish where the focus is just kills instead of objectives.
Then another that has some kind of elimination-like system where you only respawn once.
i literally won't be able to play overwatch in the week of it's release because i'll be too busy making an overwatch costume with no internet connection
this is fucking terrible
I would totally dig it if they somehow manage to introduce PvE some time down the line.

That sounds like it'd be a bit gimmicky. As far as I'm concerned, the character design sets it apart from other multiplayer games enough, I wouldn't compare this game to anything else, honestly, not even tf2. The gamemodes are standard, but they're good enough to drive the action, and the unique characters carry it from there.
Tried playing TF2 to substitute my OW cravings and got 0 enjoyment out of it
what happened to that game

Well you see. It all started with the Mann-Conomy Update. Then it all went slowly downhill from there to become the game we all know and love today.
But really the game did go a bit overboard with adding cosmetics and weapon skins. People no longer play the game for the game, but instead try to one up each other to see who can get the more expensive items to look the richest. Doesn't help the game is on life support with a bunch of game mechanics people find annoying to play against.

People said OW wouldn't kill tf2 but it has definitely killed it for me
I just can't go back, its so much slower and having to deal with ammo, spies, crits, autobalance and painfully long respawn times is the worst
I'm glad Blizzard are never doing a stealth character, disguises, cloaking, feigning and backstabs are just a huge fucking nuisance
TF2 killed itself for me after loving it dearly for 3000 hours.
Eventually you just kinda get bored of it, have to take a break and come back later. But you can't keep doing that forever.
I do think Overwatch might take a good chunk of TF2's playerbase. TF2 has grown stale in the eyes of many people. But no games came out in recent years that could rival the fun people used to have in TF2. I've been hearing a lot that Overwatch relit the spark in people that TF2 hasn't been able to do for a long time. People want fun that TF2 can no longer provide.

I stopped playing around 3,500 hours.
its was fun but I slowly lost intrest.
Its not like that is somehow unique to TF2 or any game. Eventually we've just seen and done basically everything. We run out of new experiences, and then they go from being just common place to mundane.
I recall hearing a theory about why time seems to move faster the older we get, and it has to do with how, as a child, so many experiences are new an exciting. Every week could be a new experience for us, so every week is important and memorable. Skip ahead twenty years, and we don't have many new experiences. So we don't really pay attention to or remember the days, weeks, and even months because they're no longer memorable. But we still remember the ones from when we were a child because those were the first.
A similar thing could be said to occur with video games, initially there is that excitement of learning how to play it and seeing what you can do and having those new experiences. But eventually, hundreds of hours later, we don't have those any more. So there is no longer any memorable experiences, and everything begins to blend together. I can't think of a game where that hasn't happened to me.
Warframe has established itself as my most played game on Steam, and the developers continue to add new content to the game to play with. I've been playing it a lot more the last week than I did in the previous month or more because they added a new gun that is cool. I eventually stopped playing Gmod and haven't played it in four years. The nature of it means there could still be new stuff all the time, but it hit the point that eventually the majority was just mundane. And last I heard Gmod has just devolved in to solely Dark RP serves and Trouble in Terrorist Town servers.

Coop survival is always fun IMO. Make the enemies Talon goons or something.
Coop survival is always fun IMO. Make the enemies Talon goons or something.
I think Talon's inclusion is definitely a set up for that. And what purposes does Winston recalling all of Overwatch serve if right now its all just about them beating the shit out of each other internationally? Its a narrative element that is irrelevant to the gameplay, so why include it, and Talon then?
Because a teambased FPS being based fully off lore would be boring. It would be like 17v4 if we went by lore.

I find it kinda weird that they establish this big "Talon" threat and use that as a reason to get Overwatch back together, but Talon's presence in game is limited to two heroes. Something like 1/3 of the roster being OW, 1/3 being Talon, and 1/3 being independent would have made a bit more sense. Right now it seems the bad guys are limited to just Reaper and Widowmaker with some neutrals like McCree running around.

I see three possibilities there in: TF2's Mann vs. Machine style, Killing Floor style, or Rainbow Six Terrorist Hunt style.
how much is overwatch
are there asian servers
I think the most annoying thing about the release date is that it is releasing on a Tuesday and not this Friday.so we can play it non-stop all weekend.
Knowing how badly Blizzard fucks up its game launches and seeing as how Overwatch is online only, I wouldn't expect to actually be able to play the game until Friday next week anyway.

I would believe you if the open beta hadn't been pretty much perfect 5 minutes after opening.

For a WoW expansion or Diablo 3? Sure.
But Blizzard would have to have titanium balls to fuck up a brand new IP's release. I'm gonna stay optimistic and say since the beta was smooth we'll have, at the very least, a solid release.
the WoW release was pretty fucked if I remember right :v:
Any possibility of community servers like tf2?
the WoW release was pretty fucked if I remember right :v:
They've got an incredibly muddled history of Smooth releases and shit-tier ones. Honestly, it's 50/50 but the Beta having like 9m players is a good indication it might go well.
