I feel like I definitely made myself seem more angry about this than I actually am.
Sure, I guess. It's the characters and whatnot. But like you say, seeing constant cosplaying and arguing about waifus is not something I feel should fill up the pages. And if I have to hide or block people just because I want to read about Overwatch, then I don't really feel like the thread serves it's purpose properly.
As long as people are happy, I suppose. But it's getting kind of extreme.

What is wrong with cosplay? It's not like the people ITT are even the ones doing it.
Also, it's been said a dozen times. The game isn't out. But people want to talk about it in some way to keep the hype up. People can't play the game right now so there's not much to talk about from a gameplay perspective, especially when it's entirely possible some things are gonna change upon release.

We don't have any heroes with silences. That'd be perfect for an omnic since all the heroes have some form of cyber augmentation.

I can't tell if that'd be OP or not. Thinking about it, would passive abilities like Hanzo's wall-climb be effected, for example? If not, it sounds pretty reasonable.

If it's anything like silences in mobas, no, passives still work. You just can't activate abilities. Which can be useful but also useless depending on who you silence. Silence a Reaper, he'll still shoot your face in. Silence a Winston before he ults, he's a sitting duck.

They'd also be on-par with Mei. Nothing fun about having your control taken away from you.
Junkrat's Steel Trap does "silence", however.

Specifically though, if the enemy team was all hiding behind a Rein's shield, and he got silenced, they would get shredded near instantly. A silence's effectiveness varies so much from hero to hero that I don't feel like it belongs in Overwatch.
