This image made me glance over at my EVA and Gundam model kit collection..
I have an idea for a summer project.
Well, considering this is the only good Phara skin it's not exactly a complete coincidence.
Am I the only one who doesn't mind the Tracer Punk skins? They're well made, but I do agree that they're not really in character.
I wouldn't even say the punk skins are that much at odds with her character. A somewhat retro punk look for someone who is essentially a time traveller and is energetic and outgoing doesn't seem that far fetched. It's not as if punk wasn't popular in britain; if anything it was one of the places where it was most popular.
Change of subject, sorry, but I keep forgetting to ask this: any suggestions for key binding for Zenyatta? E is really annoying to use when you're trying to strafe around.

I've heard of people rebinding alt so you just have to move your thumb inward from space
I feel the game could really use some individual character leveling up. Such as for exclusive character icons and especial skins. I think that would add even more lasting time to the game.
Do snipers (Widowmaker and Hanzo) belong in Overwatch? Why or why not?
Do snipers (Widowmaker and Hanzo) belong in Overwatch? Why or why not?
hanzo is fine because it takes skill and a little luck to nail those shots because you have to lead and account for drop, all without being able to zoom in. He also has a difficult time with enemies getting up close because he still has to charge shots to do decent damage
Widowmaker however is 'hitscan' (bullet makes contact at your reticle the instant you click), does 150 damage with minimal charge time (insta-kill even with a body-shot on tracer, zenyatta and dva outside of the mech), and doesn't unscope when you shoot, nor does it punish you for spamming shots outside of just not charging them. If people get up close, her gun is also a VERY serious assault rifle when unscoped, and she has a grappling hook to zip away ready at all times. In the very least her sniping could feel better balanced if fully charged shots ate more of her ammo and she had to reload a ton between attacks, but as she stood in beta her job was made way too easy
Widowmaker needs some combination of faster ammo depletion in sniper mode and/or a longer charge time on PC.
Or the ultimate in fuck you: an always-on dumb laser sight whenever she's in scope to clue everyone into where she is.
You know that pharah comic actually answers a few interesting lore questions. The most pertinent being that the omni crisis wasnt a consensual thing on the omnics side, it was just the result of of some skynet ais puppeting the robot population. Before this, one might have assumed it was some kind of worker rebellion but the omnics were probably as not into it as the humans were. This explains how overwatch was actually able to stop it peacefully by just quarantining the ais controlling everything.
It also somewhat explains the distrust that humans and perhaps some of the heroes have of the omnics. Like, the situation is basically if half the population turned into zombies and then tried to eat the other half. But then the zombies regain control and the humans are left nervously pondering if the undead they're coexisting with might suddenly regain its interest for brains. It's all about trust and it can be hard to trust someone who can be remotely controlled.
While Evil Genocidal AIs aren't the most shockingly original of plot points I am still interested in seeing where this goes and if it will actually be represented in the game in any way.
Are all guns in the game hitscan?
Relatively few, actually. I'm sure I'm missing some, but off the top of my head, all I can recall is:
S76's AR
Bastion's AR
Bastion's Minigun
McCree's Revolver
Dva's Shotguns (Maybe?)
Widowmaker's Cancer Stick

Reaper, Tracer, Roadhog, and maybe Mercy's pistol are all hitscan as well, I'm pretty sure.
And Torb's sentry.

I don't know about the rest but Mercy's pistol sure a shit ain't hitscan. You can clearly see the projectiles in motion, they're pretty slow all things considered.
roadhog's main probably is because it's only effective shortrange anyways, but secondary definitely has travel time.
torbjorn's sentry does not deserve hitscan and hopefully they reduce its ability to turn so damn fast

An always-on laser sight would render her pretty useless at actually sniping. Might as well restrict her to just quickscopes at that rate - which ironically wouldn't hurt her damage output too much in her current state because of how damn fast her shots charge up.
Higher ammo cost and longer charge time would definitely do Widowmaker a world of good though. Charge shots definitely need to be more costly to wait for and, in turn, more costly to waste and an ammo cost of between 6 and 10 would give a widowmaker somewhere between 3 or 5 shots before she has to scope out and reload, meaning she can't just rapid fire whilst scoped without expecting some consequence.
I would also make her assault rifle a tad weaker. As a sniper, your close range weapons should essentially be an escape tactic - they shouldn't be a legitimate threat.
I really do think Widowmaker has a place in this game, but as it stands she just feels too forgiving. Snipers, perhaps even more so than other classes, need to be punished when they screw up.

What if the charge wasn't only slower, but once it's been at 100% for a brief time a laser trail starts showing up? Sure it makes thematically absolute jack-all sense, but it'd force Widowmakers to keep scoping out and in turn having to wait for the charge again.

Still sounds too disruptive. If you really want to force widowmakers to not remain scoped for too long you could perhaps have her charge slowly drain after a certain amount of time, but I don't think it's necessary. Widowmaker's ability to wait for a target isn't what makes her problematic.

reminds me of how the plasma pistol in halo ended up with a mechanic that drains its battery constantly if you charge it
