Are they ever going to actually play the game? Or did I miss that part?

The only OP hero I need in my life. He is literally on wheels.
I used to have one of these chairs
it's the biggest piece of shit I've ever sat on, the fabric is like sandpaper and it's ugly as hell
that mesh back is useless and your back ends up resting on that uncomfortable metal pole that's supposed to support the mesh
This chair gave me constant back pain until I got sick of it and threw it out
When it comes to balancing. There is only way thing that needs to be said.
In the words of Masahiro Sakurai. "Have you ever made a game?"
Weren't you just complaining about Mei needing to be nerfed though?
the rollers sucked too
I'm not that interested in Starcraft 2 so I don't know what you're referring to, I was basically only referring to how Blizzard has handled balancing in Hearthstone.
Just because a player thinks something is broken doesn't mean it is.
Blizzard balances Hearthstone by adding new cards and now removing older sets with the introduction of standard mode. They take a hands off approach because once a TCG/CCG's set gets released, there is no way for them to balance the cards which usually leads to tournaments outright banning cards. Blizzard has the advantage of being a purely digital game, but they still did not make any changes to a card unless it downright was a justified QoL improvement.
Blizzard has only done such a thing (I believe) three times. They can't have a hands off approach to an ability based FPS, and I fully expect quarterly balance changes to be quite honest.

They already did, Blizzard devs won. After that was like 1hour of adverts and now is the cosplay contest. Not sure whats after that.

The fully decked out Winston though. That was probably the best cosplay of them all.
If I were to cosplay as any champ, it would probably be roadhog
are you really fuckin fat
Winston won [del]first place[/del] most creative(?), damn right that is magnificent.

"hi there"
I hope you guys start viewing Overwatch kind of through the lens of a MOBA, not in terms of lane control or anything but in terms of skill interactions. Discussions about balance here always seem to boil down to how annoying it is to get nailed by a McCree flashbang, or a Mei freeze or any other movement reduction mechanic, yet somehow during these times the existence of your abilities or effective ranges is just never considered or something "you shouldn't have to do." This especially applies to the offensive lineup, everyone there except Soldier I guess (he's midrange anyway, but can rocket jump in a pinch) can outplay immobilizers.
I'm not going to talk balance or anything here. I'm just going to say that I've yet to fight anyone that I could not outplay by using a panic key predictively (Tracer recall, Genji dash/reflect, Reaper phase, DVA matrix, Mei iceblock, whatever). And once again, this mostly applies to the offense lineup since they have the tools to create those outplays.

yes :(
Maybe not roadhog fat but it would be the most appropriate for my body-type.

I was gonna say "it's like a moba but actually fun" but decided against that.
I just realized I get out of work on monday the exact same time the servers go live for Overwatch :v:
but then I have to go back to work the next day
I have 10 hour shifts all week and have to complete a new certification for work. I probably won't be able to play until the weekend.
I might take my laptop into work and play a few rounds during my lunch breaks.
I wonder how bad the servers are going to be on Monday. It's everyone instead of two different groups getting in.
I suppose they would be fine if they had no problems during a free beta
I suppose they would be fine if they had no problems during a free beta
When the second part of open beta launched all their servers got super laggy and it was hard to find a game for 30 mins to an hour~
That is still not terrible compared to some games that are offline the full day the game is released.

It is when you have to go an hour after launch :(

At least you get to play the game at launch. I have to work :(
I suppose they would be fine if they had no problems during a free beta
A free beta is still quite different than a launch day. Sure the beta had 9 million people but it's not like they all logged in on the same day, like they potentially could on launch day.
Like, 9 mil is actually nothing. I think Diablo III sold 30 mil. If Overwatch has potential for breaching the top 10 most sold games ever, like D3 did, the servers are gonna get fucked on release. It's pretty much inevitable.
Feels weird knowing I'm going to be the only person in this entire thread playing on the PS4
Whoops??

It should almost certainly have less players in general though.
I suppose we'll see.

Do keep us posted on the stat changes they make to compensate for controllers. I'm genuinely interested.
Here's the thing re: Mei
If the only two counters anyone can come up with is "Play Reaper perfectly and under optimal conditions you can out-DPS her" and "Use McCree's super strong flashfan combo" that strikes me as something being wrong. When a character can be played with an absolute minimum of skill and still be strong enough to require a highly skilled player or a quite cheesy ability combo to kill, that's a pretty big sign of imbalance to me. Especially in a game built around specific counters (IE: Pharah can be hit easily by McCree, S76 and Widow's accurate, long ranged guns), since those two are both general counters that work on pretty much anything.
