Maybe the soldier 76 short would've worked better against an Omnic gang, then it could've been brutally violent.
To be fair we haven't seen any "bad" Omnic post-omnic crisis yet.
They've all been portrayed as good but mistreated.
My name is australia and russia, lemme tell you bout omnics
Wish the game would come out already so I can uninstall Siege and put it in my "Shit games I'll never touch" category on steam
It's like this post was made just to start an unnecessary and totally off topic argument

There was one that was killed in the "Dragons" short.

The worst thing he did though was be vaguely a part of a criminal organisation. I want to actually see an omnic doing something bad.

Calling it now, any short of Zarya, Junkrat or Roadhog will involve hostile omnics.
I want to see Soldier 76 do some John Wick type shit.

Still doubt that omnic died. Considering they are robots, i'd say the only way to "kill" an omnic is to destroy whatever portion of it contains its "brain". You can wreck any other part of an omnic and they can just get repaired. Heck, cut its head off and you can just reconnect it.
So i'd assume that the shot in "Dragons" is more or less the quickest way to take out an omnic stealthily (somewhat).
I'd imagine that omnic would wake up in some omnic clinic a few days later with a fresh newly repaired upper torso, probably wondering wtf happened.
My friend asked about the lore of Overwatch, but she got bored after a wall of text so I shortened it.
Well it's more a case of.
"Omnics used to be bad, but got "liberated" from their hiveminds, now omnics in general wants to live side by side with humans. Humans either fully accept them, hate them or as wary of them, because omnics can go ape shit at any point if the nearby hive mind manages to break free or activate (as demonstrated in that Pharah comic)
Calling it now, any short of Zarya, Junkrat or Roadhog will involve hostile omnics.
I do actually feel like Zarya's short will involve her coming to terms with omnics, that she will meet something which challenges her hate. Maybe her short will also be Zenyatta's, same way "recal" was Winston's and Reaper's, "Alive" was Tracer's and Widowmaker's and "Dragons" was Hanzo's and Genji's.
Eh, Omnics still aren't really "bad" or "good" just like humans aren't "bad" or "good" as a whole.
The whole reason why Omnics went ape shit is because they gained sentience and were being treated like tools.
Nah mate
During the Omnic Crisis they were being controlled by someone/something malevolent (Pharah's comic makes it look like it was probably a group of AIs) who took over the big Omnic factories, as soon as Overwatch took out whatever it was, they all went back to being normal people.
Calling it now, any short of Zarya, Junkrat or Roadhog will involve hostile omnics.
Knowing Blizzard, it'll be how untrusting Zarya is towards the Omnics, and she misunderstands all of their actions as evil, then takes them out, then there's gonna be a sad monologue for resolution, and it ends with Zarya learning that robots=good.
There is still the whole "Who the fuck turned the Omniums up to 11" that cause TWO worldwide invasions

Except none of the shorts have had the characters developing beyond where they are in the game, and Zarya doesn't even trust Genji in the game.
there we go guys, ive safely predicted the newest addition to overwatch. plundy mcbooterface
hes a mad robot pirate with a dark and mysterious past, all to solve the omics debate and prove that theyre evil too i mean he steals from the poor humans

his cinematic trailer will literally be 90% the introduction of a kid with a loving family living a sweet ass life and then at the end this motherfucker just steps in and kills everyone beacuse fuck backstories and writing
Now that the first wave of shorts is over, some tiny overly optimistic part of me hopes that Blizzard will take the criticism and do better with the writing on the next batch of shorts.
I don't think they will, and I won't be too miffed if they don't, but I hope so.
[editline]22nd May 2016[/editline]
You can still nail that tone with better writing though. They're not mutually exclusive. I don't dislike any of the shorts, but let's not act like they're perfect and can't be improved. A lot of the complaints are totally valid.
Im curious what you and others complain about with these shorts, for me they set the theme for the game very well and have numerous little details to fill out the world they inhabit.
What details? Soldier 76's wasn't even about him, and didn't say anything about the world other than the fact that sweet tattoos exist

Things like the spray paint on the wall and the matching paint on the gang members, the posters on the wall and which ones were spray painted out or not, the background is where they are. Every Overwatch character is about as original as plain bread so why look for 'good' writing in them?

This should totally be the reaper short.

Because good writing takes a plain character and makes them interesting.
In the case of Blizzard, they take interesting characters and make them plain. They've been doing it for years now.

Thinking about it Soldier 76 is probably the best character to do a 6 man with since he has no particular weaknesses, works at all ranges and has a heal.

Yeah and 99% of this stuff is already in the game. Like, IN THE LEVELS already

How can you even beat a six man S76?
How can you even beat a six man S76?
Numerous Bastions
How can you even beat a six man S76?
A balanced team of people that aren't awful? I'd advise against Junkrat and Winston but that's about it. Also a Roadhog will pretty much be an ult charging outlet for him.
Six man Bastian
More solider 76's?
How can you even beat a six man S76?
With a 76-man Soldier 6.
