• Grand Theft Auto Series Megathread V10 - Single Player DLC When?

Does anyone get the feeling GTAO is seriously lacking despite all these updates? I watched the old trailer they really try to hype up that it was going to be a pure GTA experience online. They really push the idea that it's going to be a story rich package with new characters, the promise of redesigned mechanics to fit online play, etc. It's bullshit. The missions aren't thought out at all and any deathmatch mode is ass because its poorly balanced and designed. Even if it was good it wouldn't matter because the lag is horrendous that it breaks combat completely. There's also just bits of gameplay here and there that never made it into the final cut. It's made worse by the fact there is no story. The opening few minutes are really promising and then it just falls flat on it's face. We get one new cutscene, from the only new character, and the rest are characters we already met in singleplayer. Then we get to listen to them parrot one of 3 cutscenes every time you do a mission. Then it just stops, completely, and after a few years we got heists, which was cool, but there was no story in it either. All I know is that Trevor fucked up. But that's it. The game's story, and your story, pretty much end there. I'm glad we get all these new DLCs but it just feels like we didn't get the GTA Online that we were promised in the trailer. It just sucks that not even little things made into the game. Like these kinds of police chases: "With Grand Theft Auto Online, Rockstar is looking to bring the heart of the Grand Theft Auto experience to a living, online world." "It provides a persistent and continuously expanding world full of personalities" "Wide array of redesigned mechanics" "Many opportunities for earning money" Don't get me wrong, I appreciate the new content but it just feels the original package that was promised to us never came. These new DLCs feel like gimmicks to distract us. I can't tell who's to blame. Is it Rockstar for overpromising and overhyping? Is it the modders on PS3/360 that ruined the economy and shut down the online stock market? Is it Take-Two/Rockstar realizing you can earn a lot of money by doing the bare minimal? If Rockstar realized the last thing then I pretty much have no hope for GTA 6 and its online component. And I hope they don't get lazy on the single player aspect. Although, that being said, the random events, VIP/CEO DLCs, and Lamar missions felt like something that would be "true GTA experience" in an online setting... and GTA 5's SP was pretty awesome for what it was. It's not my favorite GTA game and story but it still had it's moments. I don't want to stop believing in Rockstar but it honestly feels like I'm beta testing what should have been in the game from the get go. I don't know why I wrote this post but I feel like I needed to vent my frustration and love-hate relationship I have with this game. I've put in 36.5 days worth of my life and a good chunk of money and it all feels just so... lackluster. It feels like Rockstar has gotten /extremely/ lazy... and yet I keep playing and spending. I'm concerned my money is going to their wallets and not into the budget for GTA 6. They banked so much capital on GTA 5 that GTA 6 could have a billion dollars in budgeting and maybe 10 years of development and it would have a beautifully crafted SP campaign with a fully fleshed out online MMO aspect. I just hope Rockstar didn't lose their way. They're my childhood... it would simply just break my fucking heart if I couldn't trust them anymore. It doesn't help that the lawsuit between Benzies and them is really fucking scummy. I suggest you read up on it if you haven't already.
The part in that trailer with them jumping off the cliff and parachuting makes me literally feel bored. It actually puts me off from doing that kind of stuff in-game seeing it after I've done it. Before the game was released, that kind of stuff looked amazing - but realizing 15 seconds after that little clip was filmed, they all landed on the ground, looked at eachother and said "What the fuck do we do now?" makes me fucking laugh. Try to call the mechanic and he gives the old "SORRY PAL CANT GET THERE" so you're stuck in the middle of bum-fuck nowhere and forced to run for 20 minutes to the closest road [editline]30th July 2016[/editline] You know, back when my friends and I played GTA IV a lot, we would always talk about how awesome it would be to have countryside in the game. Now that everyone's playing GTA 5, I realize the city is way more interesting game-play wise because you never get stuck in a situation where you look around and say "Ugh, there's fucking nothing to do around here"

I like dicking around in blane county better than the city though, but I do wish places like paleto and sandy shores had more things to do [editline]30th July 2016[/editline] though it's probably just that there are less pubbies hanging around in the county that attracts me to that area

This saved me a headache plenty of times.
Or, just suicide and you'll respawn near a road.
That won't work if you're in the middle of Mount Chiliad after dying from falling down though.
That won't work if you're in the middle of Mount Chiliad after dying from falling down though.
Shooting yourself in the head always respawns you near the nearest road or path, if you're up Chiliad then you're fucked regardless.
Rockstar should introduce a new system that serves as counterpart for the mental state. As players complete missions and jobs they gain a criminal rating. Going fron Rent-a-thug to Professional Criminal. This rating is reduced every time the player kills other players in Free Mode and blows up cars, the rating will also be affected if the player stops doing jobs. Players with high rating get a blue dot and gain a small cash and RP. Players who do jobs with them gain a small bonus as well. This boost applies for every PvE activity, including Heists. Reaching the highest tier Professional Criminal should give you matchmaking preference and pair you with other blue-dot players. Edit It might sound dumb, but it makes sense in my head. People who grind should be put with other people who grind . People who just play Free Mode should be put with people who play Free Mode.
There needs to be more male hairstyles that don't make you look like you're balding, too. Also, the fucking hightop looks god awful, if you have Earl Sweatshirt's hairline you shouldn't have a hightop. Why can't I have just a normal short back and sides, or an undercut that doesn't make me look like a bellend? Why can't I look like Young Stalin, or Tom Hardy? Why aren't there any beards that aren't just a flat texture pasted onto your face?
Yeah I was excited when they added the hightop until I realised that it doesn't actually fit on anyones head properly
Man, it sucks being a high level sometimes. Most people assume I modded my account, and I get messages like, "hey, u mod?" "can i get modded account?". On top of that, people also assume I have billions of dollars and try to give me 0% on heists. Fuck that. I can understand why people would want a modded accout in a game like this, but they've kinda ruined it a bit.
Legit had someone accuse me of hacking for having a "perfect rank of 333".
I always report modded accounts (23423495.5 KDr and invisible body).
So. We're all agreed that SP DLC is never coming, right? Its been three years.
So. We're all agreed that SP DLC is never coming, right? Its been three years.
Nobody really knows anything about SP stuff. There have been leaks that have suggested that it was being worked on and Rockstar themselves said that they were working on something a while back. However, things could have changed and Rockstar may have abandoned it because it might not be as profitable as the low-effort shit that they've been pushing out for GTAO.
So. We're all agreed that SP DLC is never coming, right? Its been three years.
It's only been a year since it released on PC. They've probably been working on it since then.
Since grinding stunt races really wasn't working out for me yesterday I ended up selling my sterling GT to buy the drift Tampa. Was it worth it? Probably not in the long run, but at least now I have the hoonicorn.
It's only been a year since it released on PC. They've probably been working on it since then.
When they already make money from fools buying shark cards, what would be the point?
I love how when you have Hatley in Stunt Races you go spectate him when you finish and the first thing you see is just this [t]http://images.akamai.steamusercontent.com/ugc/492400997888810593/F08A2FAAD4F6538D0B7BA568CBDE091C3CE80F92/[/t]
I feel like the Lamar missions they added with the Lowriders update were originally going to be part of a story mode DLC, but they reworked them for online instead.
Me and a friend were playing Cunning stunts
When they already make money from fools buying shark cards, what would be the point?
Yeah, why make expensive story lines with fleshed out characters and missions that all thread into some overarching story when the online alternative is so much easier and cheaper? The Heists missions feel like the closest thing we're going to get to a good singleplayer DLC, and I feel like they only did that because they promised them before release and people had hyped them up. Why make a missions that play into a larger, overarching storyline with fleshed out characters when you can just throw a couple missions together based on some gimmicky theme and throw in a couple characters from the story mode? The gimmick doesn't have to even make sense. Sure they own mega-yachts worth several million dollars, but fuck it just make them start gangbanging in the hood because Lamar's here and he's so wacky and zany, he's that character from the singleplayer! Remember him!? Throw in a bunch of meme vehicles and super cars that completely outclass the ones added in the update before and you've got a license to print money.
i feel like GTA V has way more characters with little development compared to the other games. tanisha, stretch, tao cheng, brad, even franklin and he's one of the playable characters. on another note i'm not a big fan of rockstar's character dialogue. if most characters in cutscenes would stop talking so much bullshit and just cut to the chase then the storyline would be a lot shorter than it is. it's especially worse in online where the player characters are complete mutes and this forces the "boss" of the mission in cutscenes to ramble on for 10 hours about pointless shit.
-snip.
Honestly I'm not even that interested in SP DLC. It would HAVE to focus on Franklin, and he's one of the most dull GTA protagonists yet IMO. He's meant to be CJ 2.0 but just completely falls flat, and that's sad, considering CJ wasn't exactly a high bar to begin with.

Franklin just wants out of everything and into a better life. If they are going to do something related to SP DLC, having it focus on the early life of Micheal/Trevor would be ideal and so would be going with a spin off with Lamar, guy was originally meant to replace Franklin anyway and I want to see more of this dumbasses' shenanigans.

Hey, I'm trying to get Ragehook for lspdfr working, but it says that the game version isn't supported, even though I have the latest one. Does anyone know what to do? Edit- Nvm. Just had to reinstall it.
IMO Franklin isn't really dull and boring, he just has less memorable moments because he's the most serious character in the entire game. Michael is sarcastic and self hating while Trevor is just crazy. In fact now that I think of it, Franklin is the ONLY serious character. The rest of the main story characters and pedestrians are either overly sarcastic, crazy or a parody of something.
