Grand Theft Auto Series Megathread V10 - Single Player DLC When?
5,001 replies, posted
I kind of want to play single player again. I'll probably have to use a new save though. Idk what happened, but some update fucked something up , so now weird glitches happen and some side missions are unable to be completed.
I never played singleplayer. Just went to online to play with my friends. Is it worth playing?

It has its moments but every single one of the endings is unsatisfying, each in different ways.
Okay, this is really weird.
So I'm using Crazy Callouts with LSPDFR, though I'm not sure if that's causing the issue.
Anyway, as soon as I arrive on a scene, the AI takes over my character. All I can do is watch.

Yeah, maybe it had something to do with me playing as a park ranger. no idea.

Though the final ending is definitely the better one
IMO Franklin isn't really dull and boring, he just has less memorable moments because he's the most serious character in the entire game. Michael is sarcastic and self hating while Trevor is just crazy.
In fact now that I think of it, Franklin is the ONLY serious character. The rest of the main story characters and pedestrians are either overly sarcastic, crazy or a parody of something.
The intro to the game makes me hate Franklin and Michael.
Franklin goes to repossess a car and a crazy guy holds a gun to his head and tells him to drive his car through the window of the place where he works, then afterwards Franklin decides "hey, that crazy guy, when he was holding me at gunpoint he said he'd have a beer with me. Maybe he has a job for me?"
Then, when Michael finds the Tennis Coach is banging Amanda, he just destroys what he assumes is the guy's entire house, causing potentially millions in property damage, and then when he finds out it was Martin Madrazo's house he's just like "oh well, guess I'll hit up Lester, lol."
Like, those two plot points feel like they should have been a much bigger deal. It feels like, if there was just one protagonist, the whole needing to make money thing would have been fleshed out a lot more, but since they have three characters and they want to introduce them as fast as possible they just had them meet and make friends with each other.
I hate Trevor's intro too, but that's a whole other barrel of fish.

been using that mod for a long time and never had that happen to me
if you can be arsed; post a full list of your plugins and the RPH log of that session on the lspdfr thread for crazy callouts, maybe the mod author can find find the problem
edit: or post it on lspdfr's support thread if you believe it to stem from the base mod, i always use EUP so any issues with the regular police peds are unknown to me

Yea, it was definitely pretty fast. I don't think there's any reason given on-screen for why they even like eachother? It was so noticeable from the trailers that when North Yankton stuff was leaking, I thought there'd be a time/season-skip to explain that. Wonder if that would've worked better.
I kinda wish Merryweather was useful in GTA:O.
Possibly dumb question... Were I to go to real LA, do you think I'd be able to find my way around using what I know of where Los Santos landmarks are relative to eachother?
I don't mean distance, I mean "Okay, I'm at X, that means Y should be west of here, and from there I can find Z"
not really
LC is basically 1 to 1 nyc
LS is more like setpieces of LA, rather than an accurate representation

ignore the square miles bullshit
but that's basically what's represented where

Yeah, calling mercenaries on someone is just a minor inconvenience for them. It would be better if when you call them to attack someone, it counts as a kill for you. People that freak out about their K/D would get pissed and actually try to retaliate.

I enjoy fighting merryweather, it's hard enough to be fun without being a pain in the ass, and if you don't want to deal with it just hit their jeeps with a grenade launcher before they close in.
I let merryweather kill me so the idiot who called them on me doesn't get their money back
I get quite a lot more use out of the mugger than anything. From being a last-word "fuck you" to someone who was harassing you, to pulling someone out of their tank, mugger is 10/10.

A lot of the character development is in the optional dialogues when you friend hang out with each character.
Also, Michael and Franklin's intro makes WAY more sense if, after finishing Complications, you immediately bring Michael to Franklin, to then which Michael makes an apology to Franklin about losing his job, and asks him if he wants to hang out for a beer sometimes. This makes Franklin's visit to Michael make WAY more sense.
Don't forget, there are a lot of optional phone conversations between missions that you can easily miss. The friend hangout dialogue also depends on which part of the story you're in. If you pace yourself, the story feels a lot less OOH GOTTA GET TO THE NEXT PLOT POINT QUICK
But yeah I do agree that most of this stuff shouldn't have been optional otherwise you miss out on it and that makes the story feel lackluster.

The mugger is secretly the best feature online. Whenever I play with my mate the mugger gets called a few times. It's jokes calling it on someone you're playing with and their reaction, especially when they run off with their car
Wait, the mugger can steal vehicles? I thought he only knocked people over and took their money.

If the person getting mugged is in a car, he will take them out and drive off in it.
It's the easiest way to deal with someone driving a tank.

The mercs and airstrike are a good one time trick for new friends to the game though, really fun to fuck around with.

Yeah, it seems really strange why they thought to add a bunch of character dialogue that's really important for fleshing out the characters in an optional hangout thing where there're maybe two or three minigames to do (that get boring super quick.)
I need to finaly do the Pacific heist for the first time. If anyone cares to help, send me a PM

Guy I was playing with got mugged as he was getting in his hydra. Mugger flew off with it

Just imagine being that mugger:
-"Hello Mr. Crest, how can I help you? You want me to do WHAT?"

I was just in my GTA Online apartment, listening to the music I have on my computer through self radio, and very suddenly, an emotional but mildly comical song about somebody robbing a bank started playing
I don't recognize it from any of my music
is it a really rare comical advert from the game itself?

dependent on self radio setting, you can have in-universe ads play between tracks
You know, back when my friends and I played GTA IV a lot, we would always talk about how awesome it would be to have countryside in the game.
Now that everyone's playing GTA 5, I realize the city is way more interesting game-play wise because you never get stuck in a situation where you look around and say "Ugh, there's fucking nothing to do around here"
Depends what you're wanting to do. If you want to have fun in vehicles, the countryside is the best place to go. It's a massive, open area with a bunch of shit to ramp off of.

hangout buddies will fight by your side if you gain stars

I dunno, when it comes to vehicles I find that the countryside is much more interesting. I once was driving my Not-Stratos and found two people driving Sultan RS's with the classic Subaru color scheme, we went and dicked around lots in Raton Canyon.
