For me, Maggie is a good character for people who want to kinda "learn" the game or aren't super good at it see: me
Then once you get better with the game the character becomes a burden and ceases to be fun. All I want is for the character to have viability for people other than beginners. Give the seasoned players a purpose to use the character other than solely for completion. Isaac starts boring, then he becomes overpowered. Why can't Maggie follow in that vain? If you're consistently getting past the Womb and beyond, you're clearly at the point where character viability in late-game is starting to become an issue.
I'd like a character that focuses on flies and spiders. Maybe have one with innate flies on tear hit like guppy, box of spiders as their active, but very low damage on tears, relying on flies to compensate for most of their damage.
That'd be cool, I always love collecting the spider/fly items.Much like how we now have a character whose focus is familiars, it would be fun to have one whose focus is spawning. Maybe even something unique to the character, to replace spiders and flies, so as not to encroach on the existing transformations.
I must have spent around 75% of my time in the game on my Macbook Pro, late 2014. I haven't tried Afterbirth on it, but the original game runs as well as it does on my desktop.
mid 2010 macbook here. Works well apart from the flooded caves you can't see the floor.

Am I the only one who finds it disappointing that mega satan is the superboss in both the chest and dark room? I mean, he makes sense in both, sure. Either he's a climactic re-fight in the dark room, or he's the ultimate truth at the end of the path of truth ([sp]Theory goes, the devil posed as god to convince isaac's mom to torture and sacrifice her son, so he locked himself inside a chest to hide from her and suffocated while wildly hallucinating from lack of air[/sp]), but I just think it's strange there aren't two ultimate bossess depending on what path you take the key to.
On an unrelated note, did anybody preserve NotYourSagittarius's rotting womb? It seems the original sprite sheet was taken down.
I have it, but it needs some touching up before it will look good in-game. Sagittarius' image includes shading (something that is supposed to be left up to overlays) and the bones on the sides don't fade to black. The shading is especially problematic with the new floor sprites, as you'd be forced to recreate the images yourself if you wanted a good looking result.
I've been trying that game-breaking greed run. I've restarted hundreds of times, got infinite money a couple times, and I have yet to see that fucking glowing hourglass in any shop.
I've been trying that game-breaking greed run. The shop pool depletes and then no hourglass. A patch perhaps?
Nah I just got it. I think the blue hourglass is classified as a special item, since we all seem to be getting it nearly last. I damn near emptied the entire item pool, crashing numerous times in the process due to bad synergies, before I finally got it. Never got a chaos card but I'm so OP now from my hourglass hunt that I can kill ultra greed in 2 seconds flat anyways lol. Also make sure you don't take Chaos, unless you want nothing but breakfast. [editline]16th November 2015[/editline] And interesting note: Whatever amount of coins you were able to donate to the donation machine is how much you're always gonna be able to donate when you reset via hourglass. So you better hope you're not on a 1 coin run lmao. I'm on a 5 coin run, this shits taking forever but oh well better than doing it the legit way.
finally got 1k in greed mode this new character makes my blood boil
So, I've been following the thread, and I'm wondering now that the ARG is finished, is it worth upgrading from Rebirth to Afterbirth? I haven't gotten 100% on the regular version, hell, I haven't even gotten past Mom's Heart.

I don't understand why Edmund made it such an absurd grind. The whole point of greed mode should be to reward people who abstain from purchases; they choose to be weaker so that they can make a bigger deposit into the greed machine at the end.

Needless to say, I gave up after like 50 donations, it took way too long.
Anyone got a link to an editor so I can set and reset the greed machine to every coin value to unlock everything whenever I beat greed mode? And do I need to reach each interval or is it like the machine hits 999 and I'll just unlock every milestone. Also something that bugs me is why is there 3 mom's items that do the exact useless thing? Slight +range is such a waste of a boss room item and the fact it can show up 3x as much really grinds my fucking gears.
Your options are either cheat engine or this. Cheat engine seems to be a bit less risky though, I dunno.
Yeah just use a table for cheat engine, that's what I did, random grind can go fuck itself with a brimstone beam (and the character is not worth it anyway)
Be strong and take on the grind, lads! 337 coins and counting...
Be strong and take on the grind, lads! 337 coins and counting...
I didn't pay money for this expansion for a shitty fucking timegate that also leads to a grind. I used the mod and unlocked Keeper, and I don't even like him. The Lost with Holy Mantle is better then he is, at least the items you get from the lost are actually fucking good. Seriously, Keeper feels more like a joke character then ??? or the lost do.
You can't take devil deals since 90% of them will kill him, Angel rooms are garbage 90% of the time as well so you can't even look forward to that. He doesn't have an innate $$$=Power so keeping money like his name implies does nothing. I imagined since he was the keeper, his gig would be being able to get shit from shops for free and/or a 0% Greed fight chance, but nope, and to top it off, his unlocks are pretty questionable. I can't think of a reason anyone would ever actively want sticky nickels.

The Keeper giving you a gameplay nerf with one of his unlocks, or even giving himself a single fucking penny to hold for beating the hush is just taking the piss. You're better off never unlocking the character in the first place.

You can still find glowing hourglass if you do but it can take so long you'll want to kill your run out of boredom due to Chaos' effect on the item pools.
How do I disable automatic updates? I've got Steam running in offline mode right now, Rebirth will not update. But when I go to properties, I can't select any options other than "always keep this game up to date". And the moment I turn steam back online, it will download the update. I need to cheese greed mode with hourglass before I patch the game :v:

It doesn't help that after going through a couple hundred items the game often crashes if I accidentally fire a tear or activate an item.
There's a 15 mb patch coming really soon according to steamdb, probably to fix the 1001% achievement. People are also saying tho that it's gonna patch the blue hourglass respawning ultra greed?? Not sure where people are getting that from but you might want to turn off automatic updates if you haven't broken the game already. Unless you're gonna just use cheat engine or some shit.
Does Edmund think we're all streamers who play the game 24/7 and can just grind out greed mode non-stop?
I get that "not everyone needs to be good enough to have 1001%" but fuck, there's a difference between something being difficult and it being just tedious and unfun. Greed mode isn't even that good of a mode to play it 200 times
hey uh, question you know how you unlock things and it says "so-and-so has appeared in the basement"? and they would only appear then, and not before? yeah, well. why have I been able to get things I haven't unlocked since day 1 of afterbirth? like empty pockets was in the store yesterday and I was getting the things you get for beating challenges before I even tried them (also I swear sticky nickels were a thing before we completed the ARG; some other guy posted about it before as well)
