Holy shit i'm an idiot.
PSA for anyone thats like me and running Afterbirth on a Dorito/Calculator from 1922, Don't forget to turn Vsync to 0 and MaxRenderScale to 1 in Afterbirth's option.ini. This will help with slow (flooded) rooms and losing Frames when taking pills.
This whole time I thought it was just a glitch, waiting for them to fix it then I realized I had the settings set for the original Rebirth and not Afterbirth :disgust:
Humbling Bundle now does nothing except make Isaac smile. Trust me, you'll learn to love this change.
Brimstone now costs a heart to fire. You see, there should be some risk involved with so much power.
Back off all of you I can't tell what's real or not anymore...
I'll need gnawed leaf outright to beat hush with the lost now which is garbage.
Missing Poster now has an actual use other than some shitty puzzle that no one wanted to participate in. Dying with it respawns you as the Lost. Of course it consumes the trinket so it's a 1-time deal.
Holy shit that's kind of great actually if you're bad at the lost. Get right to the end with an amazing build, die on purpose, beat the last boss as the lost and get credit for it.
[editline]t[/editline]
What's its priority? I'm assuming since it's a trinket it's either top priority (triggering first over guppy's collar and nine lives) or bottom (triggering after all else)

yeah about that, gnawed leaf now reduces all damage to half a heart rather than making you invulnerable
yeah about that, gnawed leaf now reduces all damage to half a heart rather than making you invulnerable
And soon Edmund's going to make it so that Holy Mantle negates the first instance of damage for an entire floor.
Or that it only reduces the amount of damage the first time you get hit in a room to half a heart.
He still hasn't figured it out yet, but he's a fan of either change and he made this game so he knows better than you.
yeah about that, gnawed leaf now reduces all damage to half a heart rather than making you invulnerable
Now the problem with Ed's logic of:
its just as important for you to yell "fuck you edmund" and continue playing as it is to yell "FUCK YES!" and continue playing.
is that he seems to be making an increasingly active effort to remove all the "Fuck Yes!"s from the game without any kind of compensation.
Battery is hot garbage now. The only way to overcharge it is to clear large rooms or with a battery pickup. Small rooms and Lil Battery give you diddly shit.

Stopwatch nerf is literally pointless. Why bother getting to 999 cents now on donation machine. If you think the item is op, don't fucking pick it up. It's rare enough already.
I've lost a lot of respect for Edmund/Tyrone/the devs since Afterbirth came out. Reminds me of George Lucas tinkering with the OT. Changes nobody really wanted but fuck you it's my game!
Edmund is basically going around and putting up a bunch of "NO FUN ALLOWED" signs, isn't he?
Like I don't get it, this isn't a competitive game, you aren't competing against any "other team" (with the exception of daily runs but those are seeded so they don't really count).
What is the point in removing all the good effects from items?
If you want the game to be more difficult, make actually difficult bosses and enemies (and I DONT mean shit like The Bloat, Mask and Hearts (especially in rooms with very narrow pathways) and The Haunt, which are hard by artificiality because they cause cheap, unavoidable hits and not actually because they require skill) instead of removing the benefit from items, especially ones with insanely obtuse or grind-y unlock requirements (999 coins in donation machine, beating end-game bosses with The Lost, etc).
Honestly, either Ed has no clue what he's doing/not listening to the people actually playing his game, or he wants people to stop playing Rebirth for some reason, because at this point it feels like they're trying to make every item as functionally worthless as Butter Bean.
Or maybe I'm pinning this on the wrong person and it's Nicalis making all these ridiculous and frankly idiotic design decisions.
come on, did you ever really lose a run once you got the stopwatch? As soon as you bought it in the store the run might as well been completed
why not just add more items that teleport you straight to the credits? if you dont like it, dont pick it up
why not add a character with infinite health and 99 damage? if you dont like it, dont play it
some nerfs are shitty but the stop watch was OP and deserved a nerf (and it was a crappy boring item to begin with)
To be completely fair I don't think the item nerf is that bad.
Taking damage for it to activate in just that room does suck, but if anything it makes it a good backup item especially for bosses.
Item is still OP.

lmao but you're forgetting that the stopwatch is a reward for you playing the game for hundreds of runs
you have to actually play hundreds of runs to put 999 coins in the machine if you're doing it naturally, it's a nice reward for getting that far. and no, i don't think it's a guaranteed won run at all, especially now with Hush.

You miss the point of having an OP item that you have to GRIND for, 999 coins in the donation machine is not nothing. Also RIP stopwatch+the lost combo since you have to get hit (yes I know you can unlock the holy mantle by donating a shitton of coins to the greed donation machine which is even worse). So yeah unless you actually can get through the greed grind its useless for the lost. GG.
For those who never bothered to watch the two full videos, here's your tl;dw
come on, did you ever really lose a run once you got the stopwatch? As soon as you saw it in the store it might as well finish the run entirely
Brimstone beams, lasers, and holy beams were unaffected by stopwatch.
The big reason it was so OP is that all they did was affect movement speed, not falling speed. This made it so that tears would travel significantly less distance and would render some bosses incapable of hitting you if you were far enough away (most noticeably would be Hush's continuum attack, which would barely reach the wall in the first place). Pair into that the fact that charging enemies basically stopped instantly and you have a really strong item.
Imagine if instead of that, the stopwatch simply made them go slower like a normal person would understand slowing to function.

Does that really matter, though? I and many others spent a lot of time grinding out the donation machine to get the stopwatch, having countless runs where it jams on 1 cent. Yeah sure it was a really good item that basically spells "gg," but then again aren't so many other items, like Godhead, Brimstone, The Knife, Guppy Transformation, etc?
And a lot of those have only a slightly lower if not the same chance of appearing on any single run than the Stopwatch, considering they're special items.
Special items are SUPPOSED to be run winners/near run winners, the only ones that aren't is Soy Milk and the D6/D100, soy milk is situationally a "gg runs over" type of item, and the Dice are luck manipulation to push yourself into a "GG EZ" type of run.
Now you might as well just restart if you find the Stopwatch in the shop because it neuters your chance of finding a good special item, due to how the special item encounters work in Rebirth/Afterbirth.
Well now it's near impossible to make blindfold challenges fun. RIP won't be completing those anytime soon.
I would be more okay with this if there was a buff to shit items but OH WAIT THERES STILL A BUNCH OF SHIT ITEMS IN THE GAME. Now the game got harder and just after Afterbirth raised the bullshit meter to 11.
How about for every item nerf we get 2 item buffs? There's plenty to choose from and I've listed them before.

I wouldnt worry about it too much, right now everything's all fucky because of it just coming out and the nonsense with the ARG. give it a few months and I bet everything will be fixed and back to how the community wants it.
People saying that the Stopwatch needed a nerf...
I guess we better just nerf Epic Fetus, right?
I mean you instantly win when you find it.

The rewards were kinda weird already. Once you get the red candle you've no real motivation to keep donating to get a worse version of it with the blue candle
I don't mind the stopwatch nerf too much, honestly. But this:
Greed Donation Machine jam percentage builds much more slowly
Why have this at all? I'd rather have no jamming on the greed donation machine. I don't like to play greed mode to have shitty RNG jam after one penny when I have 50+
I don't know if I'm going to try to 100% this game again. Edmund isn't making very good choices as far as balance goes. It seems as though he wants the game to be competing with online F2P MMOs in levels of grind.

Not really, at least not in Rebirth.
Depending on your build it could actually cost you the run.

I'd prefer that really, I dont like the current state either. Though I wonder if it would be possible since thats just what the slow effect kind of does.

I think you are mistaking Epic Fetus with Dr. Fetus.

I honestly find Blue Candle better than Red in most situations, it can do more damage before the flame goes away against large enemies and bosses, although maybe I'm just weird.
EDIT: Just checked, Red Candle can do 125 Damage as it's hard cap, and Blue can do potentially 184 per flame.
and if I recall correctly, Blue charges slightly faster?
