wow hush's health scaling is some stupid shit. i was doing scratch damage with an azazel run that one hit killed everything up to that point. that's so amazingly unsatisfying [editline]21st November[/editline] why even have tear upgrades if you're just going to force the game into playing like a generic shmup? like i get you don't want people steamrolling the toughest boss but why remove so many mechanics and so much agency just to facilitate that, it's like the game is hacking its own limbs off
Ultra Greed health scaling was reduced. With a broken run I killed him in 6 seconds and I didn't even have game-crashing combinations.
Can I just say: fuck the Keeper, fuck that lopsided frankenfaced skullfucker of a character and fuck Edmund
This moment when machine jams at 1% and you've still got 60 pennies left :frown:
You know what would be a cool solution to that? Combo multiple runs together. You get to keep a portion of the money you had at the end of last successful greed run at the start of the next one, with the amount increasing every consecutive win, and resetting when you break your streak. So, say you have 40, and the machine jams at 10, leaving you with 30. When you enter the chest, 10% is cached and added to your next run, so in this case you start with a bonus 3. Next run 20%, then 30% and so on, until you get to keep almost all of it. This makes consecutive runs potentially much more powerful and fun, and increases the chances of you having larger sums to donate as long as you can keep your streak going. The longer you do well, the less of your ending coinage goes to waste. This would also give a compelling reason not to reset until you get something good, since doing that breaks your streak. There's more incentive to play the run out no matter how fucked you think you are, because giving up means losing not just all the money you built up, but losing the ability to carry over more in the future.
So the trick to the challenge Speed! is that there is no trick, Ed wants us to just cheat and edit in Pyromaniac + any explosives to farm hp, right? because seriously fuck that challenge
With holy mantle not being re-rollable the lost really will be silly. So fucking easy compared to how it once was. But hey at least you don't have to worry about bad RNG killing your run. Also yeah I've been away for awhile so people probably already know this, but wow alt+f4 is finally patched out (people been saying this every patch lmao but now it's for real). But ctrl+alt+del to reload your last checkpoint still works, and unless they want to fuck over people that lose power or actually crash, it won't ever be fixed. So hey, you can still exploit the fuck out of the game.
Right, after posting this in the Hearthstone thread, I hope y'all can explain this to me instead :v:
I just died to It Lives! on the XXXXXXXXXL challenge while it had so little HP left you couldn't even see it... Other than that, Afterbirth is pretty fun so far from what miniscule bit I've explored of it. Also, can anyway tell me what the PJ's does? It just said "It feels cozy" or something.
I know that the one thing this thread doesn't need is more Afterbirth hate but does anyone else think that some of the new item icons are really lazy looking? Marked and Zodiac are literally the same except one is red and the other is white, same with Kidney and Mega Bean. Chaos has one color to it making it look really flat and unnatural. The Second Hand trinket is just a fucking line. I know it's supposed to look like a clock hand but come on guys make it look a little better. I also don't like how NO!! is just a circle with a cross through it, although I can't exactly think of what I would use to replace it so consider me only a little disappointed about that one.

so on eden daily runs, does everyone have the same eden?
What's the point then? Just give another character two starting items. They already gave Lost dead cat.
They already gave Lost dead cat.
wait what?
There was an early daily in which Lost started with dead cat.
Oh god why did I check the steam reviews.

I remember someone making a really good point about it too. Something about how blowing through a boss while OP is boring...so forcing you to fight the same exact 1-3 minute fight each time is better somehow? Like what? I don't understand. I can't wait for a mod that makes them like regular bosses or at least lowers the ridiculous HP shield they currently have.
Boy gee howdy that 2x2 room with 8 moving spike things in a tight path SURE IS FUN
The Hush HP scaling feels really lazy is all. The fight could have been done a lot better. I enjoy the mass complex layered bullet patterns (continuum phase aside) but there are much better ways to bolster a bosses survivability that also fit within the games theme and design. Some bosses like the Duke of Flies and Little Horn demonstrate it very well with destructible orbitals that break away and give chase if left too long and large, slow moving homing tears that need to be shot down. If these sort of things could be applied to Hush to make it a more engaging and difficult battle without relying on it just being a bullet sponge I feel it would be an amazing addition to the game and something fun enough to do even after you've collected all your unlocks. In short I don't mind the Hush having an "End-Gamey" amount of HP, but if scaling that up is all it has going for it then booooooooring.
(continuum phase aside)
You can just stand still in a safe spot and the tears won't ever hit you.
You can just stand still in a safe spot and the tears won't ever hit you.
Exactly. I like the layered bullet patterns and it just makes that section of the fight feel like a shitty game of twister. I think that phase could be done better like a lot of things with the fight. I wouldn't even mind it if the dead zone was removed as long as the bullets were less erratic like Isaacs.
if holy mantel can be rerolled, why not include spectral tears, that way you can have more of a chance to get another good item.

I can't be alone in thinking mega satan needs its own battle theme
I found you know what's safe zone with it's infinity bullets, also found out that I wasn't fast enough to run away from the hurricane tracking blast.
I really want more bosses to have unique sound effects. Satan's first form has all those badass brimstone explosion sounds and we hear it for all of the 8 seconds that fight usually lasts.
I can't be alone in thinking mega satan needs its own battle theme
I honestly think it was intended initially. If you look up the bonus song you'd get for buying the first soundtrack for $6.66, it sounds menacing enough to be for him.
how does ctrl alt del exploit work? does the game pause when you open the task manager?
yeah
For those that don't know, exiting to the menu or starting a new level creates a checkpoint of sorts. Ctrl+alt+del and killing the bindingofisaac process will make the game think you crashed, and when you load the game up again you'll be back at your last checkpoint when you click 'continue'. In addition, alt+f4 on death (and only on death) will also send you back to your last checkpoint. Can use both to force your way through any unfun bullshit, and also stuff like finding out what items actually are without committing to them on curse of the blind, testing pills or synergies, finding out what beggars would payout with and how much it'd take, donating to those item changing blocks and seeing what all the items it'd offer are, or finding out where the item/boss rooms are so you don't have to go through unnecessary rooms and can thus get to boss rush/hush on time. You could also use it with Undefined to force an error room teleport. This does have some side-effects. It'll re-roll the devil room from whatever it originally was (only once), and if done on the first floor, your starting items all get deleted. You should also avoid any 1up items, ESPECIALLY guppy's collar, since that can (sometimes?) cause you to die again when you restart the game and in the case of guppys collar, you could fail to respawn and die for good..... And another side effect of it is, if you do it too much, you might get into a habit of alt+f4ing on death and accidentally do it during a daily run, thus giving you an automatic score of 0 for that day (FUCK)
when your victory run with lost that both unlocked 100 die and sworn protector without cheating gives you a one man punch power that doesn't crash the computer, it feels good. When you didn't unlock godhead because DLC makes you beat mega satan, feels bad. Welp time to move on with getting the other super secret hush hush unlocks on all the other characters so I buff the keeper when he takes damage, then go back when I get that really good item from the keeper.
