I honestly wish the expansion was named something unique, Afterbirth+ sounds like something that would be packaged with Afterbirth.

I thought the next DLC was gonna be named Stillbirth.
Anyway, I know Edmund was joking, but all his "I was wrongfully accused of being anti-consumer etc, etc" rhetoric is really, really childish. He's trying for humour and missing hard.
Why are we paying for mod support?
Technically, you’re not. Remember, this is an expansion just like Afterbirth. Trust me, it’ll be worth it, you’ll love it and if you don’t, blame Northerlion.
"lol no you're not paying for modding support except you totally are LOL!!!!!"
Why even act like this? A blind man can see that we're paying extra to get modding support.
Given the way they've handled "DLCs" so far, Afterbirth+ will become the newest version of the game and there will no longer be updates for Rebirth or Afterbirth, for the simple reason that they no longer have the source code for those because Rebirth became Afterbirth, which will become Afterbirth+.
Rebirth costs $15, Afterbirth costs $11, if they were generous enough to sell Afterbirth+ for $4 you would be paying a total of $30 to get the full experience. 30 bucks. For an indie game. That doesn't sound right.
I didn't even know bombs could push you like that.
It happened to me a few days ago in the middle of a great run.
Having to buy two dlcs to get your own game updated is such a ludicrous thing in 2016.

I haven't had a lot of exposure to the Isaac community since I'm relatively new, I just assumed he was being a cunt since that's the impression I get from some of his interviews.
He's not a cunt per se, just let's the whole "one of us" thing get to his head.
Edmund while having not reached Phil Fish levels of dickery yet, is getting there.

technically literally that is paying for mod support
if there's a box of cereal for 3 bucks and there's a toy inside you can't just say "you're not paying for the toy, you're paying for cereal". fuck that
If I don't get a juicy discount on + due to how I already own Afterbirth, I probably won't buy it in awhile.
Having a rough start with Afterbirth just because you wanted to rush it for Halloween is already a good reason not to preorder from Nicalis, but this shit just adds to the argument "why didn't you just do everything at once?"
[editline]6th January 2016[/editline]
I preordered Afterbirth with the mindset that it would live up to what Wrath of the Lamb was back in the day, but all I got was a buggy incomplete mess.
And now you're telling me it's STILL incomplete and I have to pay for it? Fuck off.
I love the end result of Afterbirth and I love what we have now, but paying extra for something that should have been here in the first place sucks.

I'm waiting for the day Edmund says "suck my dick, choke on it cause im evil remember"
Then we'll reach full circle and my dreams become reality.
Well, they've gone off the deep end.

I think he was replying to misconceptions that this would literally just be paid mod support, which it's not. It's going to be an actual game expansion.
Personally, I can't wait
afterbirth+ update

Seems like they're trying to hide what's actually happening behind a parody of what's actually happening...? They're making fun of themselves for doing exactly what they're doing?? I haven't even been following BoI, had the original and snagged Rebirth + Afterbirth during the sale for $10 and I can plainly see this is a cash grab. Lock mod support behind a DLC, forcing consumers to buy that DLC to use that mod support? It's not mod support, that implies it's free, this is like Minecraft finally adding modding API as a separate $10 DLC.
One things for sure, I won't be buying Afterbirth+ for the first month of its release.
I want to make sure all the cockblocking time gated content and game breaking bugs are all ironed out.
as an analogy, that blogpost was edmund going over to the embers and teeny-tiny flames that remained from the previous wildfire in the community. then proceeds to throw fresh brush and gasoline on it while igniting it and going "OOOOOH I'M SO BAD RIGHT LOOK AT ME THE BIG BAD WOLF"
like yeah dude you're being a dick on the provided times that you're supposed to actually be supplying the community with responses
i used to have a lot of respect for edmund and it's kind of sad how much of a prick he's been acting lately
idk if i'll even bother getting + to be honest, since afterbirth left such a bad taste in my mouth

is that what this is? a childish attempt to get back at his consumers for saying he was anti-consumer, by being the embodiment of anti-consumer? did he just snap?
is that seriously how simple this situation is or am I missing something? I've been trying to look into it more but up until the recent drama happened, Edmund always seemed like a cool developer.

Not really to that extent, but he's been acting kinda like a dork lately with the "Oooo, I'm evil because you guys don't like meeeeeee it's ok I made stuff for you anyway but I'm evil woooooo" is the vibe I was getting from his blog post.
To me it just seems like Edmund doesn't know how to act towards his fans, which I can understand, some people just aren't good with that sort of thing.
Anyone tried the current daily?
So pissed off, a glitch in the devil room meant that I couldn't become guppy... Had one guppy item, had the chance to pay for two more. But after the first one, the requirement of the 2nd one didn't change to soul hearts and so I couldn't pick it up. Terrible glitch put me at a huge disadvantage.

Based on this, but with a different idea behind it.
Angel precedent bit is stupid. Until angel rooms are seriously buffed, going the devil route is ALWAYS better
If angel rooms had the consistency Devil Rooms do I think I'd use them a lot more.
Here's what I'd think Angel Rooms should do:
-If Issac accepts Satan's deals, including picking up black hearts, picking up pickups or collectibles from Red Chests spawned inside the Devil Room, or making Devil Deals, Angel Rooms have a 25% less chance of appearing, meaning if the first Devil Deal is accepted Angel Rooms will no longer spawn.
-After the items in the first Devil Room are rejected, the chance of an Angel Room over a Devil Room spawning is 25%.
-For each Devil Room whose deals are rejected, the chance of an Angel Room spawning over a Devil Room increases by another 25%.
-Rosary Bead increases this chance by 25%
Each Key Piece also increases the chance by 25%
-If Bible is used on the floor, chance of an Angel Room spawning over a Devil Room is 100%
- "You feel blessed!" Assures a Angel Room will spawn on the current floor.
-Remove the following rooms:
6 coins
1 eternal Heart and 4 soul hearts behind key blocks
2 eternal hearts
...because one is redundant and the others are shit.
-Angel Chest room has a double key drop along with the 2 chests.
-"Item from the Angel room pool" now have a 50% chance of appearing because srsly those fuckers were way too rare.
-The above pool has a 33% chance of being a double item room, much like More Options.
Bam shit is not awful anymore.

I like your sprites, they're really close to the game's art style. What's the different idea behind it though, would it take random consumables rather than pennies?
Holy shit, just beat Hush and Mega Satan as the Lost in one play through.
My hands are still shaking from the adrenaline rush. Didn't even lost my Holy Mantle against Hush.
Wasn't even an overpowered run, had decent damage thanks to Chocolate Milk and Proptosis but was still firing slow, large single tears. Had a max level Bumbo which helped a bit against Hush but was frozen to the centre of the room against Mega Satan. Had the worst items for most item rooms throughout the game, and the Chest dropped me only Butter Bean and Mr Boom. Considering, I'm quite proud of that run.
Now only Keeper and Maggie to complete..
I like your sprites, they're really close to the game's art style.
Thanks, I appreciate the complement.
What's the different idea behind it though, would it take random consumables rather than pennies?
The idea was that it would take random collectibles from you in exchange for spirit/hearts and payout with the better Angel items. Something you would use in a desperate late-game when you're low on health or have only gotten mediocre items up to that point.
I feel like the whole design philosophy behind The Keeper was "now that The Lost is actually pretty playable, how do we inflict even more suffering than pre-buff Lost?"
On paper Keeper seems like he would be better, he can take multiple hits, after all, but with Holy Mantle, Lost can fly and stay pretty safe against most rooms, as well as take every devil deal for free. Keeper's absolutely stupid 2-heart restriction makes it impossible to take any of the higher tier Deal with the Devil items like Brimstone or Death's Touch.
All keeper needs is another heart container to make him tolerable yet difficult.
whats the point of beating boss rush with the keeper? All it does is potentially screw you over in future runs doesn't it?
