I'd pay like 1.49 for Apollyon.
Honestly as someone whos been playing since vanilla what, 6 years ago? I cant even be surprised with the state of AB+, and nobody else should either. Every single expansion has gotten worse over time it feels like with just more questionable decisions and sheer laziness with each new release. I remember lots of the same complaints with afterbirth+ were present with the original afterbirth. It's pretty plainly obvious that the passion just isnt there anymore and they've entirely run out of ideas.
I got it refunded too. I wasn't expecting much and I'm still disappointed.

I can't explain what's up with AB+.
god why did I hear about this only now? Shouldve bought The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth while it was on sale >.>
Went looking for the transformations, as Platinum God has the new items but not the two new transformations [sp]Bookworm, pick up 3 books. Gives you a monocle and occasionally gives you a 20/20 shot. Doesn't seem to be tied to luck as far as I can tell.[/sp]
honestly i wish he just left rebirth alone and went to develop mewgenics, that game seems more fun than AB and AB+
The fact he cancelled mewgenics still irritates me. But given AB+, maybe it was for the best.
No don't get me wrong, Both dev's are responsible for a bad product, the community has spoken and they are both accountable, it's just when people start throwing insults or stuff its just a lil childish. We don't really know how much either party had a hand, considering Ed's been looking after his new kid, his work output might of been diminished. But idk, all that stuff is just pointless guessing.
Child or no child, Ed is still entirely accountable for design decisions, while Nicalis is responsible for technical decisions and of course the actual implementation and business decisions. Hell, Ed has been hands-off ever since Rebirth was conceived, while he'd design items, enemies, or characters with a pencil and paper, Nicalis transformed those ideas into reality while also taking into account vague and amorphous technical concepts that Ed has no knowledge of how they function, such as seeding or a bestiary. Having a child to take care of doesn't strip Ed of his design capabilities. Sure, it is stressful but I'm really doubtful it took him much time or effort to write down general concepts for certain things [sp]especially a literal boss rush as a final boss[/sp]. But the lackluster implementation of those technical concepts can 100% be pinned on Nicalis cutting corners. If anything, Ed's time being devoted to his child has sapped away time he could have been using to connect with his community. His impression of Isaac seems to be solely based on big-time streamers, fucking reddit of all places, and his reason for the endless amount of co-op babies is so he and his wife can play together. While those demographics are important for the game, they are by no means even close to being a sizable amount. Hell I'd consider it to be fewer than 1% of the actual playerbase fitting into that category. And yet even those big-time streamers feel just as disappointed by the expansion, so that leaves a game Ed designed for him and his wife to play.
If Nicalis does a good job at managing and adding community mods, AB+ could easily become a great long term dlc. I could already picture an overhaul pack for sprite art, balancing, etc. As it is now tho, AB+ isn't worth even 5 bucks imo.
The thing that's going to rub people wrong is that it's still a 9.99 pricetag going to Nicalis for work that they did not do with no clear signs of whether they'd even try to compensate the base mod creators for selling their hard work. It's like paying an artist with "exposure." No one except diehard fans with little foresight will let someone else sell their work without seeing anything back on it. Nuclear Throne is in the same situation right now. The game is functionally unstable and has been for over a year with no patch in sight. The only reason to keep playing is because the community functionally reverse-engineered the game to allow online co-op, fixed almost all of the bugs that the developer left in the game, drastically improved the internal structure of its code and made it robust enough to allow external plugins to facilitate even further community modding potential. Yet the catch is that you need to own the game to access any of that, despite the game lacking any DRM. The modding community is too nice considering that the community as a whole was effectively abandoned.
[-snip-
Well that's a good sign
Figured out how to execute DLL modules packaged with mods. Notified developers, hopefully they see my tweet under all the other bitching.
Is there actually a good guide that introduces you to modding?
Funny how I'm pretty sure AB+ took longer to develop then Afterbirth and it has even less content. And the modding tools are half assed as fuck so that doesn't work as a viable excuse either.
I caught a little bit of an AB+ stream last night and saw a streamer fighting [sp]Delirium. It turned into an angel and kept teleporting into him until he died. Completely unavoidable.[/sp] A+ DLC

Ok I'm confused. If I were to get The Binding of Issac: Rebirth, which is a remake of the original game (of which I own that was on steam that didn't have controller support + the extra content TBoIL:R has), do i need to get Afterbirth for Afterbirth +? And if Afterbirth+ is basically DLC and requires Rebirth, why is it not in the DLC page of Rebirth? Why is Afterbirth the only game DLC listed? And if Afterbirth+ is just Afterbirth plus more and doesn't require the old Afterbirth, why is the old Afterbirth still being sold? It seems like it would confuse customers like me who now don't know what to buy. This god damned naming scheme is confusing. I feels like Ed is trying to con me into buying the wrong thing, which is sort of how I felt when I bought TBoI back in 2014, only to have Rebirth come out 6 months later [sp]that might have been my fault tho[/sp].
If you're having trouble with the Backasswards first boss, just exit the game and continue, he will be dead.

You need Afterbirth to play Afterbirth+.
Afterbirth+ is DLC for the DLC. You need Afterbirth to play Afterbirth+.
But nowhere in the TBoI:R nor Afterbirth nor Afterbirth+'s store pages does it say that. Afterbirth+'s page says that it only requires TBoI:R. and judging by steam reviews, people are saying that the new DLC is rushed? [t]https://i.imgur.com/oj8VnG1.png[/t] The steam store description formatting for AB+ really isn't helping in that case.

aprils fool is the stupidest shit I've ever seen, how is anyone supposed to deal with floor 1 bloat
aprils fool is the stupidest shit I've ever seen, how is anyone supposed to deal with floor 1 bloat
Find some coins. They're all replaced with [sp]golden hearts, basically meaning golden hearts drop more golden hearts[/sp] Also the unlock for april fools is [sp]Maggy starting with the pill[/sp]

At least he's trying to fix things. Also having played the last chapter, I have some ideas of how it could have been done better. [sp]Since it's a mix of old rooms, it should have been bizarre surreal combinations of the rooms. Like maybe the basement but it has cracks with womb flesh sticking out, or Necropolis with half the room being smashed together with the Caves, with the wall tiles all cracked and pushed together. The enemies/bosses could be combinations of 2 enemies, like horrible abominations that were sewn together or grew together like Siamese twins. And they would have combination attacks similar to both enemies attacks combined. A really good example is the trite/gaper in Antibirth. It has a trite for a head and a gaper body, and it walks around but occasionally turns into just the head and jumps around like a trite.[/sp] That's my ideas anyways.
Do Stone Fatty's not do damage? I've been spending all this time frantically running away from them and it turns out the only thing they can do is push you around a bit.
I love how I got a 0% chance on a devil deal on the 2nd floor. Why? Because the boss room didn't have a spot for the door..... like c'mon
With these upcoming changes edmund is talking about the update will be muuuch better
Do Stone Fatty's not do damage? I've been spending all this time frantically running away from them and it turns out the only thing they can do is push you around a bit.
Yeah I learned that on accident. Got cornered by them and I was like "well shit" but they don't do any damage. They're like mobile shields for the other enemies since they block your tears though. Also again about the last floor, I have to admit [sp]Delirium was fucking amazing.[/sp]
Idea for the final boss being revamped [sp]Step 1: Give it animations for it spawning bullets, maybe a disgusted look on it's face like something is caught in it's non-existant throat with a coughing/gagging noise. It then throws up the waves of bullets. Step 2: Give it animations for the head bouncing around the room- my idea was it turning into a smear/streak and leaping towards the screen (but not off it) and splashing down in a spot before reforming quickly into the head so you can see where it's going, it's able to dodge bullets while it moves, and you can get out of the way if it's heading for you. Step 3: This is the big one, make a list of bosses it can pull from and have them be randomized phases. After you do enough damage to the head it can pull from a list of 8 bosses at random and it stays in that boss form till it gets to half health, at which point it pulls from 7 bosses removing the one it just was from that list. When the life bar depletes the boss explodes into a wave of white bullets that splatter everywhere and quickly reforms into the head shape with a chunk of health missing- the fight then loops. Step 4: When the 8 forms are depleted the boss room begins to distort like a VHS player. Delirium has low HP now and becomes the entire north wall and has it's own animations and such similar to Antibirth's witness (including the camera zoom out to show the entire room) At this point in the fight static will randomly kick in and one of the 8 forms you just beat will be in the room as well. It takes no damage and it's just there to add it's own patterns in with whatever Delirium is doing. Each time static shows up the random boss changes to another form. When you beat the final boss the chest appears and has a animation of the lid just falling off- the background/stage becomes distorted and weird and you can't leave the room anymore (any teleport items stop working) cue the ending.[/sp] What this accomplishes: If Ed wants it to be a real boss fight with the scaling mechanic it becomes one It adds a random element to the fight as the list of forms changes each playthrough It looks like effort went into it More importantly it feels fair and more interesting.

Might be a bug. Also has anyone else encountered [sp]Duke of Flies/Ragman combo? He's the duke of flies but he looks like ragman. I fought him in the Dark Room.[/sp] [editline].[/editline] Here's the graphics with the animation. (FINAL BOSS SPOILERS obviously) http://i.imgur.com/jLMYZPs.png
