Every time a boss drops Little Steven, it's like feeling every human soul throughout history ever ground into dust by despair all at once. Shooting familiars somehow feel more boring than a range upgrade for technology.
That reminds me, why the fuck does Umbilical cord exist. It's a trinket that you wouldn't know what it fucking does unless you read up on it, then when you do you wonder why the fuck odes it exist. Take up a space for something good like bloody penny or petrified poop or some shit and all you get is Little Steven right before you die for one room. It literally feels like it's glitched and should have given something much more gamechanging.

You need utterly shit items to balance the good ones out. That's why this game is so good. If every item was really good, the game would get stale really quickly. Imagine if you got nothing but damage ups and Brimstone in every single run.

There's a little caveat with trinkets though. The worst you can do is having a trinket that actively hinders your ability to progress with zero upsides. No such trinket exists. The utterly shit trinket that the game can offer you is simple: nothing. Having nothing is the shit. At least with an item pedestal that you don't like, you can do things with it and have the choice of taking it or not. The player doesn't get to decide when they get a trinket or what it is, it just appears and gets picked up because it's in a special item slot where it's exclusively interchangeable with other similar items. You cannot stack as many trinkets as you like, you have limited space. Similar to active items but far far less common.
Overpowered items are one thing. Practical items are another. Overwhelmingly-situational things are yet another. And actively useless things are a final other. I get that the game is intended to be random, but when the game can and will throw things that are not even worth considering, you've effectively removed them from the playfield at the cost of wasting a player's time and resources in hopes of getting something that's not plain bad. If Ed's concern was that the game would be too easy if you had too many items that weren't complete shit, maybe the game difficulty should've just been bumped up to compensate. Players can enjoy a power trip, but the game's weak points stand out when they're on runs where the game isn't even fun but instead is a chore. The game's vying for my attention, it'd be best not to bore me into closing the game and finding something else to do.

Cursed Skull?
So I tried out D100 for the first time and was rerolling every chance I got hoping for some insane combo.
I somehow cleared 6 rooms in the Depths with my reflection and Dr. Fetus :v:. All it cost me was almost all my life. Thankfully d100 is weird and after the next reroll I had a sizable lifebar. In the end though had to take down stage 2 and 3 of ??? With half a heart and a random ass build.
I noticed something about getting Dead Cat in curse rooms as the lost.
To get out sometimes I have to expend 1 of my lifes, sometimes two. Does anyone know the reasoning behind this? Happens with the Collar if I'm lucky enough to survive. Also things get weird when I get the Dead Cat from the devil room through a teleport.

Paired with Scapular, it'll make you unkillable. It's not entirely worthless, just incredibly situational.
Umbilical Cord is just so ridiculously underwhelming that it's hardly something you even want to accidentally activate. If it were something more like Whore of Babylon where the familiar would stay so long as you stay at low health, that would be fine. As it is now, you get a familiar for 1 room, which is hardly even noticeable in the first place. It's one of those cases where an item was ported directly from OG Isaac with no consideration for the fact that it's trash. What's even more insulting about the trinket is that the game has the gall to try to give it to you in the Womb where getting down to that health is typically going to be a death sentence unless you have some regeneration items.

The last time I used D100, this happened

Idea for a challenge:
5 items, the community chooses 4 of them. Any they want. Brimstone, Mom's Knife, all fair game.
Here's the catch
Last item is Missingno. Doesn't activate on the first floor.
Make it through Dark room as Issac.
Missing No. is the last thing I need before I'm done.
Is there any painless way of getting it? After a couple of D100 runs with Eden I figured it would come up eventually but it never did.

Spawn some pedestals inside of a secret room. This can be done most-easily with the Judgement card but you can get pedestals to spawn from Temperance, Wheel of Fortune, and occasionally when you blow up the dead shopkeeper.
Reroll as you see fit, all pedestals will then draw from the secret room pool.

I made an alternative to the platinumgod cheat sheet, I doubt anyone will use it but I got tired of not being able to click things and I wanted to see stuff in tables
I didn't finish messing with the data, but if anyone actually wants it I can

yay, all that's missing now is a few items all in the angel room, shop and secret room item pools. this is going to take a while
Played some OG Isaac again. Wound up abusing Dead Cat to get lots of cubes of meat.

Fuck you, Meatboys. Literally the only thing preventing me from having real platinum god is you.
So Game Theory released an episode based on the Binding of Isaac, and while I know most people here seem to dislike it, I think MatPat brings up a good point near the end.
In the last two new endings, Isaac turning into a demon and the missing poster, I always assumed that Mom just never found him and Isaac just accepted his death in the chest. But MatPat brought up that instead of that, Isaac actually accepts his sinful nature and leaves his chest and his world behind so that he can run away from home.
Now I can't wait for the expansion to see the newer endings that are going to be added to see if they support that.
I didn't see the episode last page, so I'll throw it down here.

i couldn't watch past the part where they insinuated that isaac's themes were "taking the 5naf route by throwing creepy shit at a wall and letting fans speculate"
Interesting perspective, I never considered the notion of Isaac running away. Maybe he did, and rather than die in the box, perhaps he died in some dark forest; cold, tired, naked, hungry, and alone, faced with the harsh reality of the world.
That way, it could still slot into the Isaac Is In Hell theory, with his own personal hell being formed from his memories. Either way, still can't wait to see the truths that Afterbirth will reveal to us, along with the new character and its place in Isaac's heart.
Considering the following:
The Missing Poster, also seen in the Dark Room ending, has a sole purpose to reveal the unlock method for the final character. This is of course by committing suicide repeatedly with it in your clutches.
The unlock requirements themselves are to commit suicide in specific manners in a particular order.
The character that is unlocked is seen every time that Isaac welcome's death's embrace (respawning via Guppy's Collar, 1-up, etc notwithstanding). It's Isaac's soul escaping the mortal plane.
And don't forget that, in order to reach the Dark Room, one must first clear Sheol. Sheol's ending has Isaac voluntarily locking himself into his toychest. The same toychest where Isaac suffocated and became ???.
With these signs pointing toward self-destruction, it's incredibly hard to believe that Isaac would actually run away. He already does enough figurative running away by retreating into his proverbial box. Physically running away would be an antithesis to what he's been doing the entire game: sheltering himself by becoming further and further entrenched in his own warped psyche.
A hole with GT theory is the preceding levels before chest and Dark Room, Cathedral and Sheol.
Say in the running away scenario where Issac denounces God and realizes himself as a demon and runs away and shit, then why would right before that he kill his mind's interpretation of Satan?
Likewise, it explains nothing about the Issac fight. Would the 2 bosses be himself imaginatively picturing his death as he's going through it?
Also what about the Lost
Also what about the Lost
I thought that was just issac in the afterlife, since that's what he looks like when he dies and all. Don't think it has any plot relevance besides that.

Ever had the feeling of something just dying inside you?
Spawned as Eden with Tammy's Head, flight, a Perthro dropping on the floor, and Pyromaniac in the first treasure room. Died on the first floor because low tears and movement speed against fucking spider spawning bastards.
I think I take more damage from spiders than anything else. Bastards are so fucking unpredictable.
That game sure doesn't want me to win at all when it makes me go trought countless rooms of Cages, and Adversaries in the Dark Room.
Next time i get a super overpowered Brimstone/big ass scythe tears combo, i won't feel bad or cheap about it at all.
i realized that a lot of the items dont affect brimstone at all
this led to the realization that there's other characters besides azazel
and i'm so used to not giving a shit about floor hazards that i carelessly walked into spikes, forgot that creep is a thing, and then got cornered by trikes and pits
ofcourse the game now throws rooms at me with steel blocks / pits with no rocks next to them surrounding goodies
i want my wings back
