New room shapes? How unconventional! And awesome, too.
[t]http://i.cubeupload.com/frGm3d.png[/t] I FINALLY DID IT I think I got platinum god at around 70 hours mark, and I finally got real platinum god at 122 hours [editline]20th May 2015[/editline] to think I was actually gonna reset the run since I got a shitty first floor item as well, holy crap
Well, got another mantle that I died with. I guess I'm just too bad with the Lost. Can't wait for the buff in the next update, it's too hard of a character for me. On the bright side of things, I completed the Purist challenge with enough damage + tears up that it might as well have been a regular Isaac run, ending it with Whore, Pentagram, Abaddon, The Pact, Stop Watch, and Black Candle :v:
Another blog post here's the pic that came with it [t]https://lilmisssunshinesd.files.wordpress.com/2014/02/wewe.jpg[/t] and a link to another video that shows something at the very end [editline]26th May 2015[/editline] also i fucking called the shit out of that item name and that continuum item seems really nice as well
Does score basically mean completion time?
Pick-apart time: That accompanying image as well as previous teases make it all too clear that he wants Greed to have a greater importance, or more-realistically a Greed-themed transformation. Item is the one I suggested in that thread long ago. Damage only increases on consecutive hits, but stays the same if you start to miss. He ditched the whole damage-bonus-resets-on-miss thing because his aim is too bad :^) Item concepts to each side of Deadeye and Continuum are too cropped to tell what they could potentially do. He has both items marked with an asterisk though, which implies to me that he wanted to make sure he noted which items are community-designed and which were his own doing. If this is the case, then expect those items to be from this list
-a tear effect that gives you tears up the longer you stay still but they scatter as they go up. (like a gatling gun) -a trinket that makes tinted rocks shine and slightly raises their appearance. -a tear effect that makes your tears go off screen and loop back around behind you (like asteriods) - a usable item that makes the last tear you fired blow up into smaller tears like the sad bomb or tammys head (timed charge) - a charge up gurdy jr familiar - sticky bomb tear stat effect (the effected tear sticks to what it touches and blows up after a short time limit) - a trinket that defuses troll bombs - an item that mixes all item pools - a new bum friend that levels up the more you “feed him” - golden heart pickups (when depleted you spawn a few hearts) - a store item that refreshes the store after items are purchased from it. - a tear stat effect that when hits calls down a beam of light that does area damage - a tear effect that raises your damage the more your tears hit (missing would reset the effect) - a store item that turns all locked doors into arcade doors (unlocked with one coin)
Scoring for a daily could be done in a number of ways depending on how he wants to approach it: Completion time Distance achieved (this may entail looping the game a la Nuclear Throne) Item tally (breaking runs) Bank (how much money you have) Bomb/Key hording Kills My personal hope is that scoring is handled differently on a day-by-day basis, so that a run on a different day of the week has its own flavor instead of solely catering to a specific method of play in how its scored (Nuclear Throne daily runs are typically Crown of Blood to see how many kills you can rack up instead of distance attained). It's a tricky thing to quantify in Isaac because there are so many ways to play the game, I'd like to see a variety of challenges imposed upon the players to keep things from stagnating to a formula.
Another thing with that video, he's in the Caves with a stupid amount of items. This would require either breaking the game really early on or he's effectively looped the game in a similar vain to Nuclear Throne's loops. The issue is that Nuclear Throne and Isaac aren't comparable with enemy spawns. Isaac rooms are all pre-determined by Edmund in the level creator so that impossible rooms can't be a thing. Nuclear Throne levels are large enough that you can cram as many enemies as you'd want into them to make it more of a wild challenge. So if looping is indeed a thing, there would be a sore lack in difficulty as you'd be tackling early-game challenges with a late-game build. The only way that could be remedied would be to impose some new challenge for revisiting areas: such as loop-bosses (ie Florian's eternal boss variants) or imposing a speedrun timer for looping like the Boss Rush. Either way, the video is a bit suspect, but it could just be Ed fucking around in a developer build where he grants himself whatever items he wants. My money's on fucking around because of how few consumables he has, it's unlikely to have that many items but that few consumables in the same session.
So if looping is indeed a thing, there would be a sore lack in difficulty as you'd be tackling early-game challenges with a late-game build.
If it's just supposed to be a "victory lap" (don't remember if those are Edmund's words or Tyrone's or a redditor's), then the difficulty wouldn't really matter.
If it's just supposed to be a "victory lap" (don't remember if those are Edmund's words or Tyrone's or a redditor's), then the difficulty wouldn't really matter.
Well that's pretty goddamn boring though. A powertrip can only last a floor or two before it becomes tiresome and pointless. If I'm going to be plowing through the early-game with a late-game build, I want there to be something at the end of that steamroll to justify my powertrip in some manner. It'd not be like much could be stopping me, so a time-related challenge could be welcome there. Ed likes it when there's some reward or goal to attain from a feature, a victory lap that's there for no reason other than to stomp the rest of the game goes against that mantra.
Also notice the golden hearts in the video, could be that community item suggestion
So wait what are gold hearts function?
So wait what are gold hearts function?

http://bindingofisaac.com/post/104716763444/lets-make-a-dlc-together-part2
golden heart pickups (when depleted you spawn a few hearts)
seems pretty confirmed
I'm pretty sure the yellow hearts were an artifact of recording a TV with a cheap camera. The whole video is overexposed and throughout the video, technology and brimstone come out the same shade of yellow. Plus, when the screen darkens, the hearts do show up red.
It's weird because the rest of the red (blood and stuff) is still red throughout
Yeah, it must be a darker or less saturated shade of red or something.
MN70 N4QP on hard mode go into the curse room and enjoy Different run: wOW
Hope you enjoy tears-based CQC.
well I just created an absolutely hilarious build. It involved ipecac, dr. fetus and soy milk with some other less important stuff. I rocketed across the screen instantly killing anything I came in contact with, it was beautiful

The previously teased Ragman boss is now revealed in full on todays blog update: http://bindingofisaac.com/ secret link goes here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jah9Dc874hU
one of the tags is "jzfK" it's not a bit.ly link, and it's too short for imgur any guesses? is it even a link?
whats 1d2?
We learn the official name of those psychic hopper enemies: Ragling. In the gifs we can see him reviving the deceased Ragling. Raglings don't normally leave behind corpses so this is most-likely a boss-specific quirk. Ed also state "now just imagine running into him in some crawl space… ". The hidden areas that typically reside under Isaac's rug or under random rocks is commonly known as a crawl space. Those rooms are far too small and tend to have some wonky physics to them because it's the game's attempt to function as a side-view when the game engine is top-down. Which leads me to believe that it's far more likely that this boss character will be an occasional spawn in the Black Market. How occasional is up to debate, but Edmund stated 1d2 shortly thereafter, which leads me to believe that it's a whopping 50% chance to spawn. Although given how rare it is to find a crawlspace and let alone a black market, that 50% will rarely be seen in the first place if that's the case. Another thing to note is that Ed is playing with achievements blocked, so he's supposedly playing in a challenge or is using a seed. The map is also disabled (not curse of the lost though) and he has the same consumables as if he had just spawned. Why would he need a seed when he has a developer's build that can spawn anything in when he wants. No, I think this is instead a further tease of that new mode that he's been touting about without giving any details. If you look back to the Fat Bat reveal, those same conditions are present: no map, no achievements, baseline/starting items. Ed also stated that someone who looks closely enough will see something in those Fat Bat gifs, what people noticed was the shadow of an enemy that was spawning in. With Spider on the team, it seems incredibly likely that it's going to be an official recreation of his survival mod made for the first game. We'll see how things pan out. [editline]1st June 2015[/editline]
whats 1d2?

one of the tags is "jzfK" it's not a bit.ly link, and it's too short for imgur any guesses? is it even a link?
combining the two makes 1d2jzfK as a bitly link goes to http://www.wikihow.com/Tie-a-Noose Also 1d2 can mean roll a d2 once.

They have an easy way to test specific rooms (which saves a lot of time), and it happens to hide the map that way and disable achievements (even as a developer, you might not want to accidentally unlock some achievements while testing). That also explains the basement theme, since I really doubt this boss is actually a basement boss given his theme. Nothing to look into there.
