Why have you gone from gold member to slightly-bluer-than-blue member?
Garry
He's in room testing mode, just saying. They have an easy way to test specific rooms (which saves a lot of time), and it happens to hide the map that way and disable achievements (even as a developer, you might not want to accidentally unlock some achievements while testing). That also explains the basement theme, since I really doubt this boss is actually a basement boss given his theme. Nothing to look into there.
Why would he need to be in room-testing mode to test an empty rectangular room with a boss in it when the developer build of the game lets him spawn enemies and items inside them at will? And furthermore, room-testing mode fails to answer why shadows of a not-yet-spawned enemy are appearing in the FatBat gifs. Additionally, accidentally unlocking achievements is a rather small thing, especially when it'd be very easy to merely revert any unlocks made: it's a developer build after all. And even if we take into account that Ed isn't that tech savvy, clearing a save isn't exactly all that difficult to do.
Why would he need to be in room-testing mode to test an empty rectangular room with a boss in it when the developer build of the game lets him spawn enemies and items inside them at will?
Because that's a lot more convenient. Bosses all have their own room with up to 10 different variants, they're not always empty rooms. He needs to create those rooms himself, and at this point it's a lot easier to demonstrate any boss by loading up one of their rooms.
And furthermore, room-testing mode fails to answer why shadows of a not-yet-spawned enemy are appearing in the FatBat gifs.
Who knows? It could be a new gamemode, but it could also be an unseen enemy that drops from the ceiling. Either way the fact that achievements are disabled or the lack of a map have nothing to do with it and they are very definitely tied to the room testing mode.
Additionally, accidentally unlocking achievements is a rather small thing, especially when it'd be very easy to merely revert any unlocks made: it's a developer build after all. Disabling achievements is as easy as flicking a switch on or off, so if it saves some trouble, why not?
This guy is making a flash-styled mod (which is a massive work since he has to redo every sprite) for rebirth and it looks pretty good http://cleanisaac.weebly.com/

This dlc can't come out fast enough

Oh...

Not sure if that says too much to be honest. I generally had an easier time beating Mega Satan than I did the Fallen.
Lord knows what could surpass Mega Satan... Probably because he Himself could, though he'll probably still get his shit slapped by a mutated toddler with holy water for tears. "If there is a god, he will have to beg my forgiveness". Which is quite relevant even though Isaac was never in Mauthausen in those striped pajamas.
Not sure if that says too much to be honest. I generally had an easier time beating Mega Satan than I did the Fallen.
It's mostly because by the time you reach Mega Satan, you're overpowered as hell. Fighting Mega Satan using basic tears is 100x harder than fighting Mega Satan with all kinds of items. I hope they figure out some way to make the bosses fun still because if Afterbirth has even more floors, then you're probably gonna get even more ridiculously overpowered and I hope that isn't the case.

I'm going to guess at Mega Isaac or Mega Mom.
My money's still on God.
Yeah I like the idea of fighting he who is "I am"
But the big question is "old white dude or burning bush or evil space octopus?"
But the big question is "old white dude or burning bush or evil space octopus?"
Why not all 3 as the boss transforms? That'd be really cool honestly. Though I'm quite fond of the "God is completely unfathomable" idea though, where he just shows up as an incomprehensible mess of information. Like that Onion interview with God basically.
I enjoy the idea of having to fight a giant flaming bush. Maybe give it some fiery branch arms.

Mega Satan isn't very hard because in order to get to him which means picking up both key pieces that already implies you have a great run. At that point you can usually just out damage MS to the point that you barely see any of his attacks.

I still think we need to fight azazel, since we've fought isaac as an angel and isaac as a corpse
God definitely makes sense as the "Final-Final-FINAL Boss". It also makes sense for him to look specifically like Isaac, because "God created Man in His image". Would be cool if the look changed depending on the character you played as.

First man ever created by God.
Fighting God as a boss would make as much sense as fighting Dad. You're not supposed to directly meet him or even know what he looks like (even though you can somewhat see Dad in the Polaroid), he's just a sacred fatherly figure that's always somewhat there even though you can't see him. Note how Satan himself personally waits for you in Devil rooms while Angel rooms are guarded by simple angels. You also end up fighting yourself in the Cathedral, even though most people with no religious knowledge would expect to fight God instead (which kinda makes sense since you fight Satan in Sheol). Edmund knows how religion works, he'd never put God in the game as a visible entity, let alone as a boss.
Edmund knows how religion works, he'd never put God in the game as a visible entity, let alone as a boss.
nobody said you would actually see God during the bossfight against him
nobody said you would actually see God during the bossfight against him
God as a concept is supposed to be the ultimate. Perfection in every way: all-knowing, all-good, all-powerful, all-present. To bring the concept of God down to a defeat-able state is to strip him of being that ultimate and actually defeats the purpose of fighting against God, as it's no longer the God that's being fought, but a false God.
