A co-op mode where P2 is invincible. Think Nabbit from New Super Luigi U. Tyrone has previously teased this as the K1DSM0DE cheat. Technology laser size scaling with damage like it did in OG Isaac. An incentive to defeat Mega Satan with each character (Lost included) More [i]new[/i] bosses instead of champion variants of old bosses. Champion bosses would be provided in a free update after Afterbirth, if at all. Consoles won't get a dedicated restart button due to lack of buttons. iOS port is being tinkered with, but won't see any progress until after all versions get Afterbirth launched and day 1 bugs are addressed.

While the Polaroid and Negative aren't nearly as bad as the Polaroid trinket was in OG Isaac, it's still following a similar format. Isaac is about items, and your best bet is to center your build around maximizing your potential. However, this style of unlock mechanic requires going out of one's way to [i]avoid[/i] items for a [i]chance[/i] to following the unlock tree for Mega Satan. This is where Spelunky and Isaac differ: Spelunky doesn't really punish you for avoiding items that make you stronger [i]and[/i] the necessary pieces for a best-ending run are always possible even with bad floor generation. As it stands now, Angel rooms offer largely-unhelpful items and it requires passing up some really solid Devil items just in case you want a chance at fighting Mega Satan later. Isaac is a game where 1-time unlocks are fine, because that's how it's built. With so many items available, it's impractical to demand a player to get a specific loadout in order to progress the 'story'. No one would have batted an eye if putting the key pieces together unlocked the Mega Satan path permanently. For a character like the Lost, skipping out on Devil items just to get the Angel's Keys is like asking Eve to stay at full health or Samson to never get hit. Even worse, the D4 can reroll key pieces away. Unless the items are given roll immunity like Polaroid/Negative are, you'd be voluntarily forfeiting [i]half[/i] of the character's available positive attributes; you'd be left with just flight, spectral tears, and no health otherwise.

Going back to the hidden links, I think there may be a bit more of tease than just "shopkeeper and money" again. A leprechaun may become a thing, probably in a similar style as the one in Crypt of the Necrodancer. Spawn enough money in a single room and the leprechaun shows up to take it. Although in Isaac it'd probably lock the doors and start a fight with you. A little something to curb min-max players from squeezing every last cent they can out of an arcade. Although once the surprise is over we'll just kill him and take his loot deliberately. So it's kind of a barrier-for-entry to be a die-hard min-max player that abuses arcades with the D20, if you want to break it you'll need to beat this arbitrary leprechaun miniboss. I dunno, just came to mind.

It's a reliable source of money, red hearts and soul hearts if you're willing to put in the time. The ability to block off ground enemies more than makes up for having to maneuver yourself to hit flying enemies if you're paying attention.

At the very least, I'd expect for cosmetic seeds to let the game function as per normal, but seeds that change gameplay enough to not be baseline fair to not be on the whitelist. BRWN SNKE, K1DS M0DE, BASE MENT, C0CK FGHT, C0NF ETT1, FEAR M1NT, FRA1 DN0T, and maybe PAC1 F1SM.
