Just sold some items from my TF2 inventory to get Afterbirth. Feels great to be worry free, now I cant wait for the update!
I wonder what other new characters we'll get, or if Lilith will be the only one. Jacob would be kind of a cool concept, maybe. Starts with the ladder and has a 100% chance of angel rooms regardless of how well you do in the preceding boss (which always contain pedestal items as offerings, instead of the more common three soul hearts, two eternal hearts or a themed trinket), but if you want the offering you have to fight the angel when you pick it up. You can still make devil deals however, as the joker will always take you to a normally unreachable devil room, and devil deals as Jacob do not prevent the angel rooms appearing every floor.
I keep getting steven drops. He's dropped 3 times in the past 5 games I've played.
Yeah, I got the steven. I actually have a chance to complete the game now. All I need is the 1up and meat boy. wait, actually, that doesn't give me a chance does it...

I'd say replace all devil rooms with angel rooms only when a devil room would normally appear otherwise. Other than that I like the idea. Would make grinding for Sacred Heart and Godhead less painful for people.
Maybe just a higher chance of pedestal items. Either way the theme is risk versus reward, particularly early on. Are you willing to fight the buffed version of the angel (full heart damage and all patterns available) on only the second floor, just for its blessing? By the time you're deep enough for it to be an easy fight, the items might not be worth the attempt anymore, so you're encouraged to sack up and give it a shot as early as possible to reap the biggest benefit by the end of the run. Also unless you choose to ignore the rewards, you're fighting at minimum two bosses every floor B2 and onward, so there's that. [editline]t[/editline] What stats would Jacob start with anyway? Starting item is the ladder (for obvious reasons), but would there be a usable item too?

[editline]26th September 2015[/editline] Also idk if his name would be Jacob or Israel, maybe he'd receive an item that gives him a boost and renames him to Israel after fighting one of the angels.
Maybe he'd have the D20. Would work well with the ladder in letting you not only decide what pickups on the other side of gaps are, but help you get to them.
got the The Lost, so easy to get it once you die via Isaac. I still do not have 4 meat cubes.
Maybe Jacob would start off being very slow but having the ladder and a random book from the library pool?
Maybe not low speed. That's the key reason why maggy isn't very fun to play.

Getting angel rooms means more chance of seeing scapular, making him a really good character for breaking runs

Easiest is just using Undefined on the chest and repeating the chest so many times you empty out the item pool, then there's Sharp Plug+Wafer, Blank Card+Jera, Habit+Scapular, etc

It's always someone else getting their hands on the monster manual and meat boy, meat boy is all I need now but I probably don't even have the time to get him...

Doesn't take too long, just kinda annoying to grind it.

Reset until you get pyromaniac and keep playing until the sharp plug appears in the shop. Infinite rerolls. It's much, MUCH more broken if you also get ipecac or fetus (doctor or epic), but even without, as long as you don't run out of bombs (or you can leave a room full of enemies that shoot explosives for you to return to), you can get basically anything you want. Also rerolling the shop will help the sharp plug appear sooner, so don't give up if you don't see it in the first few floors.

You'll need Sharp Plug before you get there. Play the chest until you get a chest drop that gives you a spacebar item, then reroll the starting room until you get either monster manual or book of revelations, then bring the book (whichever you get) and deposit it in the other room (by this I mean keep the monster manual/book out of the starting room, so you don't reroll it) and continue rerolling the starting room until you get the other book. Bring both books to the same room (one active, one pedestal). Wafer+Sharp plug makes you only take 1/2 heart of damage per spacebar charge, and Book of Revelations gives you a full spirit heart. You can abuse this to get to max HP, then activate monster manual until you get down to 1/2 spirit heart, and then cheese back up with Book of Revelations. Repeat until you get 4 Meat Cubes/Bandage Balls and complete Meat Boy/Bandage Girls using the Monster Manual. This is by far the easiest way to get both of them quickly, because hoping you don't get conquest/mr fred can take by far more time than just resetting for wafer and rerolling for a sharp plug.
Died in the cathedral two times in a row as maggy, both times to giant troll bombs. They're faster than her default speed so they get stuck to her and push her around until they explode. Couldn't even move.
Yeah that's the flaw in Maggy, and in a way the flaw in high health/low speed concepts when improperly executed. Having higher health means next to nowt if you keep getting hit because you cannot outrun your hunter or outheal all the near-unavoidable damage you keep taking from things way faster than you because you keep getting everything BUT Speed Ups. Thing is, when getting the crap kicked out of you and it's not down to your own lack of skill or sense, that garners frustration.
I figured she'd be the easiest one to farm angel room items with because she has more red hearts to convert to soul ones with guppy's paw (which I reset to get on the first floor), so I can avoid taking red heart damage during bosses as best I can. But nope, she takes damage from pretty much everything anyway, and I wind up getting either the fast bosses or the ones that deal a full heart on only the second floor, so what I thought would be easier is proving to be nigh on impossible.
Yep, sizeable mechanical issues with Maggie being slow yet have 1 more heart. Having more hearts but less speed just doesn't work out if you don't do it right. I imagine that she'd be a bit more playable if she also had more invincibility frames, so that if she does get dogpiled by a bunch of speedy globins she has more time between each hit to smack them down.

If Brimstone costs two hearts it really makes you wonder what Satanhead will give you with five hearts on the line.
Straight up turn into satan is my guess. Imagine getting a super powerful daddy long legs, brimstone, 10 way shot, flight, randomly spawn friendly bomb flies, spawn the fallsn as a familiar, and take enemies' health in exchange for items.

those lazers mmmm
impressive-looking synergies
Epic fetus + loki's horns + sad bombs + tiny planet (might be wrong) + mom's knife 20/20 + inner eye + mutant spider + spoon bender Technology + 20/20 + mutant spider + wizard effect (?) + rubber cement + spoon bender Dr. fetus + technology + 20/20 + inner eye + wizard effect (?)
20/20 + inner eye + mutant spider + spoon bender
needs brimstone.
Also this confirms that not only two, but all three major tears-per-shot modifiers will synergize at once, resulting in nine tears in a single volley. [editline]t[/editline] Judging from the fact it's nine and not ten, my guess is they stack like this: Mutant spider (4) x 20/20 (2) + inner eye (1) = 9
