So, who's betting D7 will eventually get an additional room added to its charge time At this point you can pick it up, go redo an easy previous room a hundred times for a ton of resources, and then just put it back when you're done if you already had a spacebar item you liked
Then all you'd need is a 9-Volt or AAA Battery to bump it up to that 1-room charge glory. Even if that weren't enough, people would just farm a 3 or 4 tile room to reap an extra charge and keep the combo going indefinitely. The only difference is that it'd require abusing more systems in order to get the setup just right for infinite payout. Really, the only way to curb its usefulness for abuse without completely destroying it's general usage is to make it so it's only applicable a limited amount of times for each room or cap its usage tally per-floor.
I'd argue it's a little TOO easy of a run break honestly. The moment you find it, you've won; depending on how much time you want to spend, you can get twelve hearts, 99 of everything, the entirety of the treasure room pool AND maxed out stats to your liking, and then just put it back and keep going like that. It's not a special item and it doesn't even have whatever "this item is good" flag that tells hard mode to make it rarer, so you're very likely to find it. Flagging it as a special item would probably suffice without breaking its usefulness, though I'd still say two-room charge wouldn't be all that bad either. So what if another item can restore infinite use? Congrats on finding that combo, the run break is your reward. As it stands, it's just handed to you for free the moment you pick it up, which is a bit unfulfilling.

Even with the charge being changed to a 2-tick, a player could easily just farm one of those rooms when it presents itself, no extra items required. Make it a 3-tick and things are getting tougher to exploit, but still doable since you only need one of two items (with one of them being a trinket). 4-tick is the threshold where exploiting requires the combination of all 4 of these things combined. You underestimate just how determined a run-breaker can be. Same goes with the restock machines and explosive tears. There needs to be a sensible point where a cutoff is introduced to prevent infinites; similar to how a bartender will stop serving drinks to someone who's clearly had more than enough.
You realize that rooms of 3 or 4 tiles will each replenish 2 ticks of charge upon completion?
Is that new? I never noticed it. Maybe three tick but it will always give you the same reward it did the first time? IE, if it dropped a chest or an eternal heart, you're guaranteed to get another. This way it becomes an "I liked that drop, more please" item, which would still be very, very useful. It would actually make run breaking with it a little easier too once you've got the combo for it, since you can seek out a room which has the specific thing you want more of (like a gold chest, 48 hour energy or jera), and redo it as many times as you can to stock up. Though I suppose that would take the dice element out of it by not being random, so I guess I'll shut my mouth.
is there some breakdown somewhere of how EXACTLY daily run points accumulate because edmunds blog post on it is outdated as fuck [editline]3rd November 2015[/editline] i must continue to assert my dominance upon the people in my friend's lists but these scores are getting uncomfortably close and that is not ok
Yeah I know "have a question use the wiki" but it isn't an answer, I'm looking for opinions. Having played little of Rebirth, only unlocking 74 achievements, is it worth it to buy afterbirth right now? Should I get "better" at it, like unlocking stuff etc?
It doesn't matter too much, the stuff in the DLC doesn't really make the game as a whole easier or harder. They might make some balance changes in the near future but things aren't especially skewed one way or the other now. Though there are all these circulating rumors of content being withheld at the moment so it's up to you if you want to wait for the "full" release
God dammit, another run fucked up by the 1-dot dice room :suicide: I always forget what it does by the time it shows up again, now I walked into one like an idiot right before facing [sp]Satan[/sp] and ended up with a bunch of bad familiars and low attack technology. Also, this happened: [t]https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/s/chaw7zx57w6v862/2015-11-04_00001.jpg?dl=0[/t] :why:
Something I just thought of: If edmund has been hinting at the moon, has anyone tried using the moon card on the bottom floor of greed mode?
The moon card doesn't show up in greed mode. People that have hacked it in report that nothing special happens.

lost my last three lives to an awful trap room in the womb full of red poop and two heads shooting projectiles at you, granted the run was doomed at that point as i had awful damage and was being carried by my familiars but what the fuck anyway, anyone got any ??? tips
WARNING: HYPER SPOILERS [sp]The hidden items have been "unofficially" added to the game by dataminers, circumventing whatever complicated garbage Edmund wanted people to do. I just got a blue pooter familiar that acts as a mix between multidimensional baby and demon baby. Grab it on the modding of issac reddit [/sp]
Woah, with all due respect fuck dataminers. [editline]4th November 2015[/editline] This is exactly why they are holding back all this content, they ruined the Lost surprise and they're going to ruin this too.
Fuck dataminers, I'll unlock this stuff myself

Okay forcefully modding content in is kind of a dick move. Regardless of whether or not there are stupid bullshit puzzles required to unlock said content.
Imagine being the guy who suggested the familiar that upgrades when you feed it money, only to realize that the thing that you are responsible for is arbitrarily barred behind some cryptic puzzle.
I'd be really happy either way knowing that my item got in. What's your point?
Ahahahahah, I can't wait for Ed to be super butthurt about it just like he was for the lost. Forcibly modding it in is garbage, but getting upset about dataminers is childish.
Remember when secrets in video games stayed a secret until someone found it by playing? I miss those day.
Honestly, I think the items were just missing pickup sprite art due to time constraints and this was just to stall for time. I'm not even sure if that was a spoiler or not.
Remember when secrets in video games stayed a secret until someone found it by playing? I miss those day.
There is a difference between an actual video game secret and a forced mini ARG.
Remember when secrets in video games stayed a secret until someone found it by playing? I miss those day.
Locking out half of something I paid for behind an ARG that, let's be fair, knowing Ed, isn't actually designed very well is not great. For the Lost it was fine, if really stupid, though it didn't matter because it was kind of a joke character, so you unlocked it in a weird, bullshit way.
I mean I get some people don't like ARGs and just want to get to the point, but why can't people be patient until some smart guy finds it out and posts it online so that everyone can know the answer? I'm almost completely sure the Lost would have taken just a few weeks or less if no one datamined it, but it ended up being completely spoiled within a few days.

No one gives two shits about the Missing Poster. The only use it has once the puzzle was cracked is that it's an item that can be rerolled with the D20, that's it. At least the Mysterious Paper has practical uses to it, despite being unreliable.
I see the problem here though, there's 2 groups of people in this: the ones that are for the ARGs, and the ones that are against it and just want to play the full game.

It took like 4 days to figure out that puzzle back then, and then edmund made up the misconception about dataminers spoiling the mini ARG from the start.
Imagine being the guy who suggested the familiar that upgrades when you feed it money, only to realize that the thing that you are responsible for is arbitrarily barred behind some cryptic puzzle.
this isn't team fortress 2 lmao its not like people suggest items for profit or personal gain this puzzle stuff is fun and its not like they'll never release content they worked hard on making, just play along for a while and cool stuff is sure to come
Well I decided to try out the challenge everyone seems to be shitting themselves over, Guardian. Ended up beating it first time lol. After accidentally rolling away my Lil Brimstone, I picked up Small Rock, Cricket's Head, and Steven and promptly somehow steamrolled every enemy, and this includes facing off with a Bloat in the Womb who spammed lasers at my little Mulligan. Protip use yourself as a meatshield.
