Eh, I'd wait until the blog post before I decide to grab my pitchfork. At least give him a chance to explain himself.
why get pitchforks at all? worst-case scenario edmund made a mistake and its already been fixed and all the items are in now, no harm no foul
why get pitchforks at all? worst-case scenario edmund made a mistake and its already been fixed and all the items are in now, no harm no foul
But how could we as videogamers go a day without getting mad at a controversy?
why get pitchforks at all? worst-case scenario edmund made a mistake and its already been fixed and all the items are in now, no harm no foul
Nicalis made the mistake, really. They're the ones working on this. Idk why we're having to hear from Edmund now about all this, or what Tyrone thought he was gonna accomplish with shit like that "when you think something is missing and is actually right in front of you" tweet lol. People should just be happy with what they got since it is a lot and the people getting super angry are silly, sure, but the communication could've been better here. Yes I'm aware they couldn't tell us exactly what the issue was, but just saying there's a error and it'll be sorted soon instead of making it sound like we just weren't looking hard enough would've avoided a lot of grief. What a silly situation lol.
Glad I finished all of Lilith's and Azazel's unlocks last night then lmao. But what a croc of shit with that azazel nerf. What's the harm in having one character be OP? This isn't a fucking fighting game lol. I enjoyed having azazel to wreck everything with whenever I got frustrated with other characters. Granted I haven't tried it yet but if he is as bad as people say then what a jokeeeeee
Not even isn't it any harm in an OP character in this game, but characters like the lost and blue baby are underpowered characters. Why can an underpowered character exist and an OP one can't?
Not to mention if a player does nothing but play azazel every single run like some keep implying others do, then that is 77 items (11 characters with 7 item unlocks each, not counting babies) which said player(s) will never, ever get. And with the new character that will be 84 items. That's a pretty big amount of items.
Not to mention how, as mentioned before, azazel is bland because he does not synergise with anything. I really can't understand his thought process, and it really does remind me far too much about terraria.
Just got one of the new items.
[sp]No. 2 "Uh oh..." Shaped like a diaper with a safety pin. You randomly drop butt bombs, which still damage you. Be careful.[/sp]
Getting real tired of nerfs in this game, Azazel already doesn't sync with ANYTHING so fuck me. These genuinely RUIN characters
Does anyone else absolutely hate the speed buff that War seems to have?
Getting real tired of nerfs in this game, Azazel already doesn't sync with ANYTHING so fuck me. These genuinely RUIN characters
If you missed it, edmund also said on twitter the Azazel nerf isn't functioning correctly. there's still going to be a nerf apparently, but hopefully it's nothing too major.

I have a love/hate relationship with this item. It both helped and almost destroyed my Greed run

Honestly I'm loving [sp]Toxic Shock[/sp], it's a really cool item. [sp]Butt Bomb cloud when you enter the room, poisons enemies and if you kill them while the cloud is active, they drop a puddle of toxic creep that damages enemies[/sp]
[sp]Black powder[/sp] seems like a cool item but I just can't utilize it effectively.

It's legit, i have no idea what it does though since i only got it by abusing [sp]the D7[/sp] in the chest

[sp]iirc it's called "Ultra Bum" or something similar, it combines the effects of all 3 bum friends into a single familiar with (I believe) a higher payout rate[/sp]

What's with the weird shadow gradient in that picture over the left half of the screen?
What's with the weird shadow gradient in that picture over the left half of the screen?
some levels have shadows over them. i think chest does as well and that's what that is.
I always disliked playing as azazel anyway, his short range brimstone felt really bad to use since it barely combos with anything. his only saving grace for me was his damage output and that seems to be getting slashed so I doubt I'll ever play as him again once I finish his postit lmao
'CHAOS!!' might be my favourite item, just 'cause of that smile.

Think it's supposed to be isaac looking into the chest
I have half a mind to wager that the modding API dlc that Tyrone mentioned for next year's second quarter will dip into the concept of paid mods that Valve has been pushing. Provided the system is set up well, I could realistically see it working decently with workshop support for items (LUA code and associated art assets), enemies, or room packs using a pay-what-you-want system.
The issue then comes from console versions though, there's no way for those users to get access to steam workshop content without steam itself. The only way I could imagine it working would be for Nicalis to package some hand-picked creations and sell them like normal DLC, with the revenue split being such that the people responsible for making them get an appropriate cut for their effort.

If that happens I expect a huge backlash, much larger than what we've seen so far.

Is it really unreasonable to have the option to pay people for code, art, and design that they are responsible for? Pay-what-you-want model seems like the best setup for something like this for steam modding workshop if they do go that route. Then all that'd be left is setting up revenue splits for a console version of the mod pack and then pricing it appropriately for the amount of content contained.
Without a proper API, all that can be done is changing existing content, not outright adding new stuff like with the Flash version. Here's an outline of things that cannot be done with the way the game is set up at the moment:
add new items
properly add new enemies
add new musics/sfx
add new stages
add new characters
add new challenges
add new babies
add new achievements
add new cutscenes
add new synergies
add new transformations

As long as the "Pay what you want" option has 0 dollars I'm fine with it. Being forced to pay for a mod is just dumb.
I find it funny how after egging the community on constantly about this 109 crap that Edmund has started backpedaling. "Oh no I'm not mad at anyone. I didn't do any hints or anything, y'all crazy."
As long as the "Pay what you want" option has 0 dollars I'm fine with it. Being forced to pay for a mod is just dumb.
If you go by the pricing of Afterbirth itself (I'm approximating using round numbers and pre-purchase discount), an item would be approximately 5 cents. While I don't know if they'd be able to enforce it, setting a standardized price-range for different types of mods could help curb any abusive pricing.
But of course, the pay-what-you-want approach can occasionally yield some high-ballers who drop a large amount on it, god knows that people drop tips on twitch streamers like candy.

The problems with paid mods in any fashion are support and licencing. As long as there are no obligations to keep mods supported and compatible, no way to protect and/or compensate other people's work, and no way to refund if things go wrong, there's no point in implementing a thing like that.
The only proper universal solution is for developers to curate mods, ie give the creators payment while taking responsibility themselves for the content in it. I doubt Nicalis would want to do either one of those.
Holy fuck I'm fucking pissed right now.
My USB controller has this weird hairtrigger that makes it occasionally press R1 at random times.
This time it pressed R1 and I used my Sun card
While I was fighting Ultra Greed
And had Habit and Blank Card
And had 80+ cents
I died
You know to never blame your controller for your losses but no not this time I'm 100% blaming my controller.

Yeah it's a real shit situation. While the game itself isn't changing too drastically, it'd cause issues if certain things require other mods in order to function in-full. Not to mention synergies can be broken and the inclusion of overpowered mods would require that modding blocks achievements.
But I know Valve's been pushing hard for it despite the previous fiasco with it exploding on them. It's a matter of how Nicalis handles the situation, especially since 4 of the 5 platforms to play the game on simply won't have this modding API in the first place. To get those players to experience it as well, it'd require a curated bundle of content hand-picked from the steam workshop.
One way or another, money will find a way to inject itself into the system. From there, things would need to be back-traced in order to set a system up in anticipation for when that happens....or just leave those non-PC platforms to sit without that content and be unanimously inferior as a result.
There's something going on (these were all taken from the collection screen). Note that money = power's item ID is 109.
