scaling is a good mechanic imo, it's just blown out of proportion (if that makes sense). What I mean is it takes like 3 minutes or so to kill hush, it shouldn't take more than 1 or 1 and a half. The "armor" needs to be lowered a bit because it just takes too long
and there's no fucking way I'm doing this as the lost without a chaos card or something
I'm really hoping that all of this nerf galore/one-sided balance bullshit is here for the period of this dumb greed ARG thing nicalis got going on. They'd better back the fuck off with nerfs after this blows over.
I kinda wonder if this game is suffering right now from a little Dark Souls syndrome. Like, when Demon's Souls and Dark Souls came out, the games gained a reputation for being hard, even though that wasn't really intended as their gimmick. So then with Dark Souls 2 they decided to milk that unintended gimmick, and a lot of parts end up a lot less fun because they're like "who CARES if it's too hard, it's DARK SOULS, git gud lmao"
I think BoI also has that reputation of being a "hard game" so the devs are getting this mistaken idea that people are playing it BECAUSE it's hard, and so they don't pay much attention when people say the game is unfair or less fun in certain ways.
Whomever thought putting hurt barriers in TREASURE ROOMS is a moron. Like, the fuck is the point?
I'd rather there be gold and silver treasure rooms in normal gameplay, with gold ones needing a key and nothing else, and silver ones freely open but requiring you to solve a puzzle, take damage, have flight or fight some enemies to get the item.
That way even if you have shit luck and no keys, you can still get SOMETHING at least. Maybe silver is always a usable and gold is always a passive?
A lot of the new transformations are really underwhelming.
There's a transformation that literally all it does is give you a random Pill.
Like, what? :v:
I know Guppy is basically "ez GG" but I would like some more transformations that would actually be worthwhile for me to go out of my way to get.

I feel like I'm the only one that thinks [sp]Ultra Greed[/sp] is still pretty easy.
Right now I don't shoot key coins I just let all the enemies come out and kill them. It's an adaptation.
huge item pool and I swear the game only ever gives me the same 10 items

Infamy every single run

He's never been hard, he's just tedious as hell because it doesn't matter if you glass cannon'd into a build that kills any boss within a fraction of a second, he'll still take 3 minutes to beat. Same for the secret one.

Actually he is harder if you are a glass cannon, since it takes just as much time as it would without all those satan deals people make along the way. The game PUNISHES you for leaving health in favour of damage, and that is a bad mechanic.

He's worse if you LITERALLY have the glass cannon as an item.
Krampus really needs a bigger item pool. I'm so sick of getting Coal or his head every other run. I know it's a reference to the evil Santa Claus myth but seriously it's so uninteresting when you encounter him because you know what you're getting out of it.

Before Rebirth there wasn't even a Krampus head, you were guaranteed to get coal.
[editline]9th November 2015[/editline]
I think the issue is just that Krampus is too common, it feels like I run into him every run. He should have a significantly lower chance of spawning.
Krampus coal is amazing though, I'm not complaining

Spikes and enemies in devil room can go fuck themselves, does Satan not want to make a deal or something?
Krampus coal is amazing though, I'm not complaining
Such a bummer though when you get Krampus's Head, especially when you already have a good space bar.
Worse yet, the head will still drop even if NO! is held
Why
[editline]t[/editline]
IMO head of krampus needs to be buffed again. Either reduce the charge time by two rooms, or have it fire eight beams instead of four (brim + tammy without damage scaling)
As it is now, it's... Really not worth it, unless your current spacebar item is awful and you're still at the point it can kill bosses.
All challenges done except SPEED!
There is no way someone playtested this challenge. I'm barely making it past the caves, at best.

Too right. But still, I can't help but think that multiple activateables would still be cool. Broken, maybe, but it would still be fun to have multiple things to pop, and alleviate the frustration of getting lumped with more activateables than you can hold and you don't want to swap out.
But we all know that it ain't happening, and instead the idea could apply to many other potential "Isaaclikes".

16 minutes is fucking ridiculous. I consider a speedy run (as in, "Tammy Brimstone nuke every room") to be 20 minutes to the Heart. Someone needs to lucksack hard to get under 16.

Even without the time limit it's ridiculous. I'm talking damage in almost every room. It's just not sustainable unless you get really lucky with items.

Challenge should start you off with the knife. Would perhaps be doable then. Add lokis horn and high luck and you've got something that's actually fun.
Fun greed run: 8MGC QGWR. I'm cain but it probably doesn't matter.

Wait a minute you have to get to the fucking heart in 16 minutes? I thought it was just to Mom.
SPEED! should start with treasure map, blue map, compass, roid rage, speed ball and growth hormones.
The former three to help you quickly figure out where you should be going and plan the fastest route, and the latter three to ensure you can actually survive encounters with certain enemies (which normally will just dash up and glue themselves to isaac since they're faster than him). The latter three would also fit the theme of the challenge quite handily, as now isaac is incredibly fast too with a whopping +1.3 speed up, capping the stat at +2. You're basically playing the whole game in fast-forward, which would be more fun than just sped up enemies and a time limit IMO.
With those starting items they could probably keep the time limit the same and it'd still be doable, since you'd be spending about a third as much time just going from room to room.
Boy I love it when I get a good run with lots of coins for the donation machine and the final shop is replaced by super greed (with a steam sale just to rub it in)

Well, you don't HAVE to do it in 16 minutes. You just start taking periodic unavoidable damage once 16 minutes are up.

It's worse when you finally have 15 coins on the fifth floor (and steam sale), and you get greed, THEN super greed on the next floor.
