Guys do you have any tips/tweaks to improve FPS in the game? I already have it at 800x600 at lowest settings with shadows disabled. It's really smooth at the start of the game but when the minions/creeps clash in the middle it starts dropping and really really goes down when the 5v5 hero clashes happen.
specs?
I'm certain heroes gold prices are reduced over time.
They are but it seems completely random who they reduce. Jaina being the most recently reduced hero.
While I do like this game, as someone else mentioned above, the amount of gold gained is simply abysmal no matter the method and the prices on the different heroes seem to be picked at random
They are but it seems completely random who they reduce. Jaina being the most recently reduced hero.
they probably base it on sales metrics
Not a lot makes you feel greater than some quick thinking with Illidan (Had music in the background when this happened, can't help that one.)
It really feels like too many Heroes in this are too expensive. I can understand Specialists being expensive, since they're not for beginners and noobs like me, but so many heroes are locked behind 10k gold prices and it's meant that I'm level 28 and I have three Heroes unlocked that I want to play. Johanna, Jaina and Arthas. I want to play people like Diablo, Leoric and Sylvanas but the grind is too real. It feels like I'll have to start buying cheaper Heroes so I can get the 500g for Level 5 and then I have a pool to deal with quests, and it's a shame that it's that way.
I played to level 40, only spent $20 (for 2 weeks worth of Stimpacks and to use the 50% off sale to get some of those 10k priced Heroes cheap) and I have 19 Heroes to choose from, including some overlap from the Free Rotation. More than half of those I bought with in-game gold, which I currently have 10k of because I haven't wanted to buy another hero yet. You get 16k just for making it to level 40. You get 500 gold for getting a Hero to level 5. So if by level 40, you get 8 heroes to level 5 (not at all hard...), that's 20k gold. You get atleast 20 gold per game, 30 for a win. Let's give you a 50% win rate and say you played 100 total games to get to level 40 (not sure about the accuracy about that, I think I hit level 40 around 120-150 so this might be conservative). (50x20)+(50x30) = 2500g = 22.5k Considering there is shit like "Win 8 games: 800g", let's go ahead and assume that brings the total to 25-30k gold. You could buy A) Kael'thas, Artanis and Sylvanas (30k) or B) Valla, E.T.C., Li Li, Malfurion, Muradin, Tychus, Tyrael, Diablo, and Gazlowe. (29k) You have to be smart with your money when it comes to the 10k heroes. I've bought the ones I want with real money and just used my in-game gold to buy the cheaper characters. I will agree that the pricing is a bit steep and I don't want to defend it in the least, but given this is a free-to-play game and I've only spent $20 and have about half the full roster of Heroes and almost all the Heroes I actually want, I'd say it's a decent sense of progression.
i really wish they'd favor the new maps in rando rotation or at least have a preference thing...i've played like 20 matches since release and only played it once
i really wish they'd favor the new maps in rando rotation or at least have a preference thing...i've played like 20 matches since release and only played it once
ya ive only played the new map once and my team steamrolled the AI before we even got to the good stuff

This is one of the most entertaining kills I've ever gotten with Abathur.
I can't for the life of me figure out how to play Abathur correctly. I'm like 0-7 with him right now, and I really want to learn how to make him work. Help me, o wise Facepunch.
The meta for Abathur is currently locust/mine builds. The general consensus on his ult is that Ultimate Evolution is much better then Evolve Monstrosity. I like to occasionally take Monstrosity because it can do some real sick right clicks if you get enough stacks on it, and it often diverts attention since the enemy team will focus it quickly. Although having another hero in a teamfight is very difficult to pass up, and in most situations you should take it. I mostly stick to towers during the early game and focus on mining the map while keeping tabs on all my allies. A good way to play Abathur is hopping on someone, blowing all your hat skills, then removing the hat from them, this is because the cooldowns on all the hat abilities will reset. So instead of having to wait 12 seconds to reshield, you only need to wait 4. If nobody is in a lane and your team currently isn't getting murdered, pop a hat and a couple mines in the lane and clear it out for some XP and push. Once objectives start popping up, that's usually when I start to move around the map more as people will be less inclined to look for you. Never stay in the same spot for more then maybe a minute or two if it's close to a lane, because people will catch on very quickly and check. Before you do leave however, I always advise pooping out a mine on that spot in case you feel like coming back later. That's about all I can think of off the top of my head right now.
I used to be really into DOTA2 but now I suck, how easy is this game to get into?
i played dota for like 200 hours and pretty easily got into hots, just know its really more about your team than individual skill (but your skill still matters too)
I used to be really into DOTA2 but now I suck, how easy is this game to get into?
As long as you work well with your team and prioritize objectives, you'll do fine.
I used to be really into DOTA2 but now I suck, how easy is this game to get into?
Incredibly easy. A nice upside to this is unlike Dota there's actually teamwork.
What's your guys opinion on the Lost Vikings? I can handle the micro pretty well, but it didn't really feel like I dealt any damage. Longboat felt like it was made out of paper, dunno if Play it Again is the better choice.

If you sacrifice a viking to let an ally get away that is getting chased, that's often worth it as well. I'm not saying GO AFK IN A BUSH like many do, but assembling them is only for objectives. Don't focus on breaking forts with all vikings together or getting kills.

I love playing as Nova She's a bit pricey in gold, but I'll see what I can do
Man why are half the heroes 10grand? I just wanna play my nigga Zeratul.
I really wanna play Sylvanas, the Pusheeing Queen, but again, 10k is blueballing me here.
I really wanna play Sylvanas, the Pusheeing Queen, but again, 10k is blueballing me here.
I picked her up after saving for an age. I can fuck minions like no-ones business, shame those pesky champions keep trying to get Pvp in my PvE game.
I think I'm saving my current stashed up gold for when Lunara releases and drops down to 10k. Really excited to get to play her after they showed off what she can do at Blizzcon. Plus, the only hero who I don't own right now who I'm especially interested in owning is Thrall.
"Dude ur a noob at playing hammer" Yep the lvl 9 skin, the 20 kills to my name, and being top of the chart for siege, hero damage and kills means I am a noob instead of maybe I'm just asking you to stop blaming while everyone else is heading to the objective [editline]8th December 2015[/editline] Like every time i don't just sit and do siege damage people say I'm a noob even though hammer is a goddamn sniper of a hero when built right but apparently all I should do is take out towers

^ They also removed talent gating (not having all talents unlocked, one of my only complaints while leveling) and increased the hero rotation from 7 to 10, 6 by default and the last 4 slots become available earlier than the last 3 did previously. The Recruit-A-Friend system lets you get two Heroes, Slyvanas and Raynor, just by leveling up AND gives you a 5-day stimpack. They extended the Black Friday sale to the end of the year, and they made a point to mention "What’s more, any brand new items released during this time will also be available at 50% off their normal real-money prices." Seems like Blizzard wants more players and this is a pretty good way to do it imo.
I really hope the increased free hero rotation will improve the quality of match ups in quick match. They must of had real success out of the black friday sale. I know it got me to buy some things.
