I don't think I am. If Connor stopped to think about the future of the nation he wouldn't have let Washington be that future. He still harboured a personal hatred for Lee because Lee was the moustache twirling Disney villain that attacked him as a kid. ACIII's narrative has some real merits but despite the clashing ideologies of say, Haytham and Connor, Connor is still a framed as a merciful hero and the Templars are full of baddies doing baddy things. Even Haytham becomes a merciless asshole in his later years just so he's still clearly the villain.
