So I just pre-ordered Origins Gold Edition. I have hope this is the AC game we deserve.
I couldn't get into Syndicate. Having two separate characters ended up just being annoying after awhile, and everything felt way too sped up. The climbing was too fast and looked glitchy, while the combat was way too sped up so it looked like none of your hits had any wait to it. I agree on the PCness of it too in some ways, where it feels like it barely has anything to do with the time period's society.
Oh joy! Release is due next week :excited:
Please be one of the best in the series
I hope they also get to hold the title of "late 2017 AAA without consumer assfuckery".

Origins comes out the day I start my Humanities class which is all about Ancient Egypt. Coincidence? I think not!

Some reviews are out, and of course they're pretty positive, but if you do end up trying it yourself please let us know what you think.
Ordered a copy after seeing the reviews. It was always on the cards because Ancient Egypt is such a draw for me - the world looks incredible. Have been away from AC for a while so there's that, too. Though there is another obstacle to clamber over....

Downloading my free copy of Origins right now. Can anyone with an AMD GPU confirm that it runs like absolute ass? PCGamer says even the Vega can't hold a smooth 60, on medium.
aye games alright

I am on 4690k @ 4.5 and GTX 970 - can I run this game with at least 60 fps? If so: Any good? is it worth buying? Last AC I enjoyed was Black Flag.

It runs fine on my RX480 on high settings, 1080p. That PCGamer article is either nonsense or the recent drivers made a big difference. The game seems alright. They've refreshed the AC gameplay loop, but not enough. I have this feeling that the loot system is gonna be more of a grind for identical looking equipment with better stats than anything Dark Souls-like with new items having their own particular character.
Okay I can run everything on max but it will be in around 45-65 fps average range. or AA to Low, Shadows to Very High and Fog to High and run it at 90 fps average. Going for 2nd option, I am actually surprised how well this game runs, I had way more issues with AC Syndicate than this one.
The more I'm playing it the more I like it, much to my surprise. I've just had a close encounter with an angry sand ghost on my camel.
I fucking love this game, the story got me hooked right into it just like black flag did. P.S - I spent 30 minutes flying eagle because I couldn't figure out how to exit it.
I'm not a huge fan of how sometimes in combat enemies will just take away a third of your health in one hit even if you're the same level as them, but outside of that I'm really enjoying the game. Perfect game to play while I listen to Drakengard music in the background.
about to buy origins, it's my first assassin's creed game since the first one in 2007. I read a "story so far" article on this ubisoft website, but it was written before syndicate came out. can someone give me a quick rundown of the syndicate story?
Anyone know which settings have the biggest impact on CPU, runs well for me except in town?

Starrick, meanwhile, is searching for access to a vault holding a Piece of Eden: the Shroud, which can heal wounds and presumably make one immortal. Jacob handles the gangs and those within Starrick's cabal and Evie searches for clues as to the location of the Piece of Eden. The Shroud is discovered to be underneath Buckingham Palace and the twins with help from fellow Assassin, Henry Green, stop Starrick and ensure the Shroud is safe where is is. In the modern day segments, Shaun, Rebecca, and a female Russian Assassin named Galina Voronina, search for the Shroud's location. You "play" as an anonymous Assassin Initiate who is searching Jacob and Evie's memories for the location of the Shroud. After discovering the Shroud's location --Buckingham Palace --the three of them pursue it, but when they arrive, Templar agents, Juhani Otso Berg, Violet de Costa, and Isabelle Ardant are already there retrieving the Shroud. After a short fight, Isabelle is tasered, presumably killed; Rebecca is shot and wounded; Berg is knocked unconscious; Galina covers Shaun and Rebecca's escape as Templar reinforcements arrive. Afterwards, Violet de Costa is shown giving the Shroud to Templar scientist Alvaro Gramatica, whom has been trying to build a clone of First Civ people using the DNA of Sages, like John Standish, and Desmond Miles. Gramatica states that with the Shroud he can resurrect an actual First Civ person, rather than just a clone. The final shot is of Violet speaking to Juno as its revealed that Violet is working for Juno. Juno then appears on screen telling the audience that she "will save you all." [/sp] I believe that covers most of it.

It would explain why he, Altair and Ezio looked alike (despite the old "Animus pasting face" excuse) but he doesn't look like the other sages.[/sp]

To date there is only one confirmed basis for a Sage, and that is Aita, Juno's husband. Desmond is unique in the sense that he does have a higher concentration of First Civ DNA/genetics (which is why his father William couldn't just take his place). However, Desmond has been confirmed to have a young son who is a Sage. If Desmond were to be revealed to be a Sage (maybe of Adam or someone else) then that would certainly be a better explanation to the face thing but wouldn't explain why neither he nor his ancestors had recollection of their past lives.[/sp]
I'm having a lot a fun with Origins. It's way more fun and interesting than Syndicate was. The map is fucking gigantic too.
I'm tempted to get Origins but I just sunk 60 bucks into Wolf 2.
