The modern day story hasn't even been relevant since Black Flag. The plot is progressing at such a pathetic pace it may as well not be at all, and Origins' modern stuff is just pointless. It'd be better if they just abandoned the modern day plot instead of bringing up its rotting corpse only to do nothing interesting with it at all.
Like I said before, they should just make a full game set only in the present just to end those segments in the series once and for all. The conclusion to all the present-day sections in every game. Maybe even try to do things in reverse and have the player be able to go through small segments in the past in different times, like the time anomalies in Unity and Syndicate.

Honestly I think a modern assassin's creed would be difficult to do as it would basically just be splinter cell, they would have to find a way to deliver it in a different and interesting way.
I think Assassin's Creed III did the modern segments in the best way: several short missions every so often. A game dedicated to the modern day would kind of defeat the purpose of the game and detract from what makes Assassin's Creed good (the past). My problem with the modern day plot is that after Desmond died it goes to crawl and really just fleshes out more lore than it progresses anything. I didn't mind it too much in Black Flag, playing as some anonymous character. That is, until they did it again for Rogue, Unity, and Syndicate; which disconnects you from really caring about what is going on. Granted, Desmond wasn't that interesting, but at least it allowed you to feel somewhat connected to what's going on in the present and each game felt like it was going somewhere. I haven't finished Origins yet, but hopefully it sets the stage for an interesting modern day character and plot to continue the series.
I caved and bought it a couple days ago and I've put 10 hours into it already. It's pretty damn good but my wallet still cried over the £50 price tag
If games come out with AC Origin's quality, happy to justify the price tag but we've all been bitten by a rubbish game before, unfortunately.
I know all of you Asscreed fans are crazy about them for some reason, but my god do the modern day parts suck butt. They weren't so bad in the first three, but now they're just "hey, stop doing cool shit so we can tell you about the *real* plot" Bitch. The real plot is me assassinating people in Egypt. Stop with this stupid framing device.
Yeah, they're awful and they could probably drop it entirely and it wouldn't affect anything. Given how there's like 10-15 minutes or less of modern stuff in Origins I think it's time to just get rid of it. The whole series would have been cooler just globe/history jumping anyway. You could probably relegate the whole thing to a part in the menu set for emails or chats or whatever.
Goddamn the game is huge. I zoomed out on the map and was like GOOOOOOOOODDAMMIT. Less than halfway through at like 20 hrs played. In other news I'm keeping my case fans cranked to the max. The CPU gets hot. The socket even more so. It's Prime95 loads for that rock.
This game would be amazing if it was optimized/no shit DRM on PC It's frustrating that my friend on PS4 is playing at a higher FPS with better graphics...
I don't seem to be having any problems with an unclocked 6600k + 1060 6gb + 8gb, granted i can't play on ultra but the game's handling fine at high/very high with only a few minor slow downs which i can probably blame on the 8gb of ram. it'd be interesting if they took the DRM off to see the performance difference though.

It was set up as a huge event but for half of the series we've been anonymous hackers while occasionally Juno spooks us through computers. (I can't speak for Origins, correct me if I'm wrong about it.) I've always found the setting to be a really cool concept and a great way to connect the series but for the most part it's been handled poorly. It started off as a sub-plot and now it's basically irrelevant; Ubisoft don't seem to know where they're going with it.

trying to get this reshade to work is so aggrivating fuck me\ https://www.nexusmods.com/assassinscreedorigins/mods/1/?tab=4&&navtag=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.nexusmods.com%2Fassassinscreedorigins%2Fajax%2Fcomments%2F%3Fmod_id%3D1%26page%3D1%26sort%3DDESC%26pid%3D0%26thread_id%3D6120628&pUp=1 it only works when im in the editing GUI for it, as soon as i put the GUI down the effects turn off and im left with bland vanilla (doesnt look bad but after being cockteased by this sweetfx i cant go back) somebody please help me before i lose it fixed: had to set the "show fps" button on(?) it doesnt even tell me my fps but it works, hey
Do Trials of Anubis repeat every so often? Don't want to have to grind to max level just to do it before the time limit expires.
Do Trials of Anubis repeat every so often? Don't want to have to grind to max level just to do it before the time limit expires.
The Facebook page's spokesman says they will be a recurring thing and will also feature different gods, if I recall correctly. All I want is the Anubis outfit, but all I got was a sword and every attempt after was merely gold...
Do Trials of Anubis repeat every so often? Don't want to have to grind to max level just to do it before the time limit expires.
Is this some timed BS that means there will be content that's locked just because I'm not playing when the game came out? I'm still a little upset by those guns and that outfit I couldn't get from Black Flag.
Anubis will rotate back in. You get a piece of gear the first time you beat it each time it rotates, I think.

It's still a little shitty, but you aren't permanently locked out of gear just because you weren't playing the game at that time.
It's a fucking moronic idea to lock single player content behind online-based timegates. Hitman tried to do that and no one liked it.
I just completed the main quest last night and it has kind of left me mixed on my impression of the game. At least story-wise. Overall the gameplay is quite fun, there's plenty to occupy your attention, the world is magnificent, and I believe Origins has breathed new life and possibilities into the series. But [sp]given how the game ended, showing Aya's transformation from Aya to Amunet, it made me wonder why we are playing as Bayek and not Aya. Bayek kills most of the targets, but Aya's personal connection and reverence for Cleopatra --as opposed to Bayek's passive opinion of her --would make the inevitable betrayal have had a larger impact on me/the audience if we were to follow her, especially if she were to be the one doing Cleopatra's dirty work this whole time, instead of Bayek (he feels the betrayal, too, of course, but the adoration and disillusionment that Aya had for Cleopatra could have been interesting to explore more). I like Bayek, and he's great throughout, but Aya seems to have been in a position where renouncing her old life would have been more rewarding if we had followed her more closely on her painful journey (towards the end it even seems like she comes up with the idea of the Hidden Ones and how they operate, and Bayek goes along with it). It just seems that we followed Bayek through every target and hardship since Khemu's death, but we end with him doing what he's practically already been doing (protecting Egypt) and Aya's gone through a personal transformation that is the genesis of the Assassins. Maybe making Bayek and Aya dual protagonists, like Syndicate, would have been a good compromise (rather than having Aya relegated to a few naval mission and the final mission). I cannot help but think that some Ubisoft exec(s) just don't have faith in a triple-A title with a female lead; thinking it would reduce sales or whatever. It's speculation on my part, but it would not surprise me if it were true. Additionally, I think the Order of the Ancients would have been better if they were precursors to the Instruments of the First Will (having Flavius or Septimius as a Sage); and Bayek's efforts eliminating them (through the influence of Cleopatra) inadvertently allows the proto-Templars (led by Caesar and Cleopatra) to fill the power vacuum. Bayek and Aya would realize this too little, too late, gather allies and descend into the shadows forming the Assassins. I was also disappointed that there wasn't more focus on the Pieces of Eden (the ankh, maybe a was staff as a PoE, etc. the apple and Alexander's staff play such a small role) or Egyptian gods as being Isu (of course, the voices from the stone blocks that can be found in tombs could be Horus, Osiris, Isis, etc. communicating, but still) and missed an opportunity to explore more stuff from the Isu's time and humanity as slaves --being called 'Origins' and all. Some miscellaneous things: - Really surprised that they did not pronounce Caesar's name "kaisar" as it would be. - I like that William Miles is back, if he's to play a larger role again, I hope they can get John de Lancie back to voice him. - I am hoping Layla is explored more because she really didn't do much or have much to do to make her remarkable in any way. - It's frustrating that the game is mostly a prequel and, once again, does little to advance the overall plot, but maybe with Layla joining William the story will take off a bit more. - One of the stone pillars seems to be talking about literal/physical time travel... going that direction for the series kind of worries me, but we'll see (I may have interpreted it wrong, they are cryptic after all). [/sp]
What is up with these horse archer guys that ride around as the heads of the bronze/iron/cedarwood convoys in Memphis/around the area? I'm talking about the guys that shoot red arrows at you (not the tower guards that throw javelins) they are literally the Dark Souls II Drakekeeper equivalent of this game. They just pound you with these super-accurate red arrows that knock your shield aside and then two-shot you. They lead you on a crazy goose-chase through the entire city so that every other passing convoy now joins in and is blocking out the sun with arrows like fucking 300. I'm playing on the hardest difficulty. I get it. The game's supposed to be tough, and it is. It's also been pretty fun so far with how tough it is. Melee fights feel alot more rewarding when either of us could die in two hits but this makes me second guess the whole game. I can't chase down convoys at all anymore because its the same formula of "kill the two easy guys as fast as possible and then hope the OP guy doesn't lolshoot me or ride away and get his friends to" I've tried getting a better shield (one that has a couple ranks of ranged resistance! perfect, right?) but it literally does nothing different. Everything else in this game has felt solid and balanced but wat the heck is this. If someone has some hidden solution to this that I haven't figured out, feel free to make me look like a jackass.
I just picked up Origins on PS4, and so far it's pretty good, but for some reason intense music comes out of nowhere sometimes and gets super loud. It's hilarious, but really annoying. Anyone else having this problem?
[vid]https://giant.gfycat.com/DarkWholeGuppy.webm[/vid]
Axes are pretty good :v:
Damn, those bounty hunter guys that come after you are scary. I was searching for loot in an outpost and one of them came out of nowhere and started chasing me. I hid in a closet and he lost me. Felt like I was playing a horror game for a second there.
Took down one of the elephants. I look forward to getting brutally murdered by the rest of them after I go tinker with my gear some more.

Anyone playing on PC know what the 3 diaganal line bind that shows up as "Hold to track" for quests is supposed to be? Playing with a 360 pad, tried holding every button imaginable and it doesn't do shit.
