I almost took out a whole fort just by poisoning one guy :v:
so I was watching some gameplay for this the other day, and I noticed that in at least some situations, a stealth kill wasn't an insta-kill and it ended up throwing you into combat? Can someone explain how this kinda works to me, cuz I'm on the fence about getting it, but in all the vids I've seen I don't see much stealth, and if there isn't much of a focus on stealth anymore I'd probs pass on it.

You can still sneak around, but it's a bit harder. It's more like Far Cry or Wildlands where you need to scope out enemies camps first to see where they are before you make your move on them.

Getting into combat during stealth isn't that bad either, as it doesn't alert the whole base to where you are, just the enemies that spotted you. And even if more guys get alerted, you can always get out of sight and slip away. They'll still be on alert, but they won't know where you are, allowing you to be all sneaky again. While it is impossible to play the game 100% stealth like, you can do most of the game in stealth if you want.
Yeah, for an AC game it's actually pretty good at giving you a chance to avoid detection even if you're spotted. Generally I can kill the guy who spotted me, either in melee or with a bow, before he's able to actually alert anyone else.
First AC game I've played since Black Flag, I'm having a blast. And holy shit, I can't believe the stuff you can do with the ingame photo thing. I've been just fucking around with it and taking pictures I thought were ~aesthetic~: [t]https://i.gyazo.com/f0993fa775fb121d051eba33b824665d.jpg[/t] [t]https://i.gyazo.com/4bd4e838fa0c6b33e6bac9dcaa7a0b88.jpg[/t] [t]https://i.gyazo.com/06f4e2c0f1d0233abb622f16bafe34a3.jpg[/t] [t]https://i.gyazo.com/00847a1447e774fca092267e11d04dd3.jpg[/t] Edit: Sorry if this takes up the screen, how do I downsize my images?

Do you get to Cyrene to free roam during the MQ, or do I need to stop at The Aftermath to hit all the zones the MQ hasn't taken me to on my own?
Do you get to Cyrene to free roam during the MQ, or do I need to stop at The Aftermath to hit all the zones the MQ hasn't taken me to on my own?
You're able to free roam in Cyrene when you hit that part in the main quest. Only one quest in the game actually locks you out of Free Roam, and after you beat that quest you're back to being able to run around doing whatever you want.
[vid]https://giant.gfycat.com/DopeyPowerfulBongo.webm[/vid]
I've been playing through Syndicate recently and the game reminded me of how much I missed the over the top executions from the previous games.
One of the things that bothers me about Origins is that the combat doesn't quite feel as smooth as previous games. The hidden blade especially bugs me since most of the time there's a long animation when you stab people. Like, I get this was before the assassins really had their technique nailed down, but I miss being able to get really quick and easy kills like before.

Sometimes Bayek will just stab the guy in the lower back quick while crouching behind them, other times he does the animation. I think what I missed the most was having a smooth double assassination. The chain assassination ability is awful and always feels clunky. It works, but it always looks weird.
I've been playing through Syndicate recently and the game reminded me of how much I missed the over the top executions from the previous games.
Is it just me or do those animations look ridiculously sped-up? It's like someone turned on fast-forward. Is that just a Syndicate thing? I don't remember it looking like that in the older games.

Like I doubt that's the case, but I could cap the FPS and see if they slow down. It wouldn't be all that shocking though considering the cloth in game is capped at 30 FPS unless you change a line in the ini file.

I've heard it was done to make combat feel faster and more savage. What you see there is the result. Check out any videos of AC Syndicate and you'll see the same unusually fast combat animations.
so why in ac1 does the hidden blade need a finger removed, in ac2 leonardo says it doesn't because of a modification he made, yet in origins you just plop it on and you get to keep all your fingers? is this an oversight or is it something that gets explained later?

Just keep playing and you'll find out.

What's the best way to kill crocodiles? I'm level 14 I found this big ass level 14 croc in Sap-Meh Nome while following a papyrus riddle but I even have trouble killing the smaller ones even though they are lower level than me
Dodge spam is your friend, I played it in the same approach as witcher gameplay and it seems to work fine. Also make sure you are upgrading your armor and weapons, if you dont go to the crafting menu regularly you should.
Man this game's performance is all over the place
I wanted to bump this thread because we are on a time of Holyday Sales and I'd like to point out how fucking good Assassin's Creed Origins is, should anyone need an opinion on the subject. They took their time with this game and it definitely shows. While it's not the best game I've ever played, it is arguably my favorite AC game and the developers kinda came close enough to create something as close to The Witcher series as possible. The general gameplay takes the best hints from both Unity and Syndacate (especially the renewed emphasis on stealth) and doesn't feature any sims-like bullshit from the past games. The new RPG elements they introduced also tend to work most of the time, althought at the point I am in the game the new levels system seem like a way to railroad me more than anything else. At any rate, I'm having a lot fun with it. The plot is nothing exceptional but it's presented and delivered in a very satisfying way and I'm getting more and more invested in basically all the characters involved. There's also a better attempt at follow hystorical accuracy, especially after Unity. The present days plot is not intrusive at all and provides some welcomed breaks from Ancient Egypt, althought it doesn't have much significance on its own. It's pretty clear that the time they took with Origins made it a massive return to form for the franchise. At time I'm even suprised Ubisoft managed to produce something like this due to the little fine details you can find pretty much everywhere. Like I was doing a side quest and met a NPC nearby who gave me another side quest prior which I completed: Bayek actually recognized the woman and addressed her properly. In short, give Origins a try. It's really worth it
Is there a way to turn off the smoky particle effect on legendary weapons? Am I overlooking something obvious?

I feel like playing a decent new open world game where I can just invest some time, how does Origins hold up? It looks really neat from what I can tell. Heard some mixed stuff about the combat though and being to overleveled when you do to many quests.
I don't think you'll be disappointed. It doesn't do anything new or special among RPGs, but as an Asscreed game it's very exceptional. It has the usual RPG fun of setting an objective and heading for it, then getting tripped up by a new quest, location or patrol full of loot along the way. The combat is so fun that I actually wanted to partake in it, which is very unusual for the series, and the sidequests obviously beat whatever flower collecting shit there was before Origins. It's just a nice action game with RPG flavour, with a massive and detailed map to explore. Also, they added level scaling recently if you want to never be overleveled.
It's a shame you can't replay your assassinations, 'cause I really wanted to record those sweet new Memory Corridors for my YouTube channel
Just a heads up if anyone was looking to grab Origins on the cheap, it can be had for $35 right now on greenmangaming by using their "GMG17" discount code.
