Hopefully this DLC adds more trinkets to collect. I still need like 50 more for the trophy.
So, dumb question.
Is the consensus about this game that it's actually a good deviation from the formula and a overall decent game? Is it worth full price or sale price?
Just wondering as I've been getting more and more desire to play this despite having sworn off AC games for a few years now.

It's fucking good okay
It's significantly better than Syndicate, which was significantly better than Unity, which was worse than Black Flag but Black Flag was awesome too.

I heavily dislike AC games in general, but I had a great time with this one. I'd say go for it.

gameplay wise my favorite since rogue, story wise my favorite since ac2

i sunk about 40 hours into it mostly focusing on the main story
How are y'all doing in terms of performance? I meet the recommended settings and regardless of graphic quality my fps often goes down to 40ish inside of towns and it's really bumming me out

Turn down I think it was AA to medium and you'll get better performance.
I get a steady 90 as that's what I have it locked to.
Poor Romans, always kicking the puppy and stuck being the bad guys.

It's more of an RPG game and less of an AC game. As someone who has never finished most AC games, this one was great from beginning to mostly end. (it gets a tad slow)
Story is good, main character is one of the best, overall the cast does a wonderful job, and the world is beautiful.
I got it for $40 on sale but I would be happy had I bought it for $60.
I wish they'd done the loot a bit differently. It felt like they kind of got halfway there for letting you gear yourself up, but stopped before just making it full RPG, which I think would have been more fun.

Unity(bugs aside, I played it later on) was wayyyyy better than Syndicate. Otherwise, I agree though.

Granted I'm a huge Ancient Rome fanboy, but the game's portrayal of late Republic Roman legions as basically hordes of barbarians entirely devoted to burning, pillaging and raping upsets me far more than it should

I usually like Assassin's Creed (got all of them 'cept for Rogue) but I got kinda scared off Origins because of terrible animations from previews like YongYea shows off here, did they fix that in the finished game or are animations still kinda boned?
Still kind of a dealbreaker for me at the moment so I'd appreciate the perspectives of those who played it. Just still got nightmares from Mass Effect: Andromeda constantly taking me out of the immersion with their awful faces & animations.

Don't take Yongs videos at face value. It has some funny glitches and animation issues here and there but it's still a lot better than past games.
So, why did Brutus have to [sp]stab Caesar in the dick?[/sp]seemed a bit harsh I reckon, I didn't like the bloke either but christ he was already on the way out.

i haven't had any bugs that broke immersion. sometimes i'd witness people do really dumb things, but i haven't seen anything that takes me out of the game. You really have to go out of your way to make stuff work weird. I think the most annoying thing I've had is having my mount spawn in impossible to get out of areas when I call it. It spawns in fenced in back yards or up on top of buildings at a 90 degree angle, but if you call it again it respawns somewhere else
Is origins much better than syndicate?

I think that was just an illusion. :v:
So I beat Origins finally. Is it just me or [sp]did the ending just really come out of nowhere? One mission you're helping Cleopatra onto the throne, then suddenly you're killing Flavius and then Aya goes off to Rome to kill Caeser and bam, game's over.[/sp]
I felt like I did everything on the map pretty early on only to find out that the end of the game wasn't that far off.
I honestly think they ran out of time. The pacing and story were really good until you hit that last end section and then you're at war and then you're finished within about 30 minutes.
The game felt like it was dragging a bit for me at that point, so I didn't mind it wrapping up quickly. But I also did a ton of side stuff and didn't power through the story quickly, either.
What would be the advantage of a NG+ in Origins?
Are there things you can only do in multiple playthroughs?
It kind of annoyed me that enemies didn't scale. So going back to do a side quest you missed in the beginning wasn't a challenge at all.
Being able to do structured content, even if repeated after the main quest would be fun with new equipment and knowledge
I want to kill bosses with my golden anubis set
Same. They have a nice system where characters can spawn and pathfind far away, and pick random places of interest to use in daily quests. It seems like there's a good foundation for repeatable quests that chain together or something.
Theres an option in the settings that enables that
Damn they thought of everything
I completed the main quest in roughly 40 hours while doing quite a few side missions, yet there is still much to explore and do.
That said I genuinely enjoyed this game quite a bit and it was totally unexpected. It's been a long while since an open-world game like this has hooked me this much. I feel like Ubisoft actually managed to fill their world with meaningful sidequests and more variety than usual. Honestly when I think about the entire game, they must have put some serious effort into it. The amount of stuff in the game is ridiculous.
That said the main quest gets a bit rushed at the end and there were a lot of cuts which were somewhat annoying. The end itself was pretty decent though, it's a good way to end the game and yet still make you want to continue playing on the game.
I think the best thing to do is play through the main story first before doing the side quests. The story progresses along with your level pretty consistently so you really aren't ever out-leveled by enemies and the story stays interesting long enough to keep you engaged
my problem is that I'm a completionist and so I won't leave a region until I've 100%ed it. By the time I got halfway through the main story I was so bored of the game I could barely muster the energy to finish it. I think it'd have been a better payoff on my part if I just did the main story first and then the side stuff later
