Um it already is a gif, what are you on about.
Just for historical funsies, I've decided to travel back in time to collect the earliest ever released screenshots of POSTAL 2 for posterity. These date back to March 2002, about a year before the game's release, all the way up to early 2003. Here's the album of the 125 images I was able to gather presented in somewhat chronological order:

Fun vintage story - The following screenshot was considered controversial at the time:

Apparently, people were misidentifying this obese bystander as being pregnant and assumed you could kill pregnant women in the game.
Oh man, I really like the pistol and gas can model.
While doing more research, I managed to unearth some additional POSTAL-related relics. As I'm sure many of you have noticed in POSTAL 2, there are a number of billboards scattered around Paradise advertising silly things. One of these billboards advertises something called "Splatterpope and Postal Grrl" supposedly appearing in the Sunday edition of the Paradise Times. Unfortunately for us, the apocalypse occurs on Friday and again on Sunday, so no Sunday newspaper is ever received. But, as it turns out, this was an actual short-lived webcomic hosted on the official RWS site in late 2000, about a year before POSTAL 2 was even announced. They've all been archived here except for one panel:

But that's not all! The more astute among you may have noticed a poster located in one of the beginning houses advertising something called "Bob and SatanMonkey". This, too, is a webcomic, albeit one made in MS Paint. Amazingly enough, it's been archived in its almost entirety here:

The frame featured on the poster in the game is here:

these are always fascinating
I had known about the Splatter Poper and Postal Grrl comic but not that satan monkey was an actual comic as well. Had always assumed it was just a generic ms paint poster.
RWS should put its old site content in an archive somewhere. Some of it I recall is quite fun to read, and not all of it deserves to be tucked away to be viewed only by thoose bored enough to look things up on the webarchive site

Yeah, not such a bad idea.

Fuck yes. Got the achievement as well.
That gif of the bouncing scissors reminds me of what me and my friend used to do back when I first got the game - because all we had at the time were shit pcs to play it on, we used to find endless amusement throwing loads of objects down in the pipe behind the dude's trailer, constantly adding more and more until the game would just crap out at like 2fps and crash.
Part of me misses having a shit pc.
A really, really small part.

Looks like some early Germans were ahead of their time.

So what's the current ETA for the Postal 2 Workshop?
So what's the current ETA for the Postal 2 Workshop?
Never, we are never going to let you have it
I finally got around to beating this game (in the full week mode). Good stuff!
I wonder if anybody's tried combining the various maps together into one, even just as a single challenge map to get from one end to the other in one go.
Well this thread slowed down considerably.
It'll pick up again soon, few things going on worthy of discussion!
So what's the current ETA for the Postal 2 Workshop?
Not sure yet, but all the major hurdles are now jumped so most of the work is getting example mods and the documentation up and running.
is the next postal game coming
is the next postal game coming
I hope so, I've been wanting a third game for a while.

Postal 4: Wrong Number

Postal 3 would be better.
Because Postal III wasn't that great.
I did a Google search on a bystander quote to see if was a reference to anything and came across the book "What Every Parent Needs to Know about Video Games" which features an entire section dedicated to POSTAL 2. Luckily, this preview includes the entire section:

I suppose it's meant to decry the violence in the game, but it comes across more as a glowing review lauding the numerous free roam choices you can make. Judging by the screenshots, though, it looks like the author never even left the first map.
Also, I found this Master's thesis which specifically makes mention of POSTAL 2. Apparently, the author does not recommend the game for educational use in ESL classes. I think that's a missed opportunity there.

That was painful to read, and either the game's been modified so much throughout the years or half of the things he says are complete bullshit (leaning towards the latter)

POST4L: Return of MikeJ
either the game's been modified so much throughout the years or half of the things he says are complete bullshit (leaning towards the latter)
Actually, I just realized something pretty damning: the author makes mention of a hint that says "Hit Q to kick open doors and kick people in the face. It's fun!" That's certainly a helpful and funny hint, but there's a problem here: this hint is not in the full game. It only exists in the demo version of POSTAL 2, which, as I mentioned before, is nothing but a single map with one errand and a seven minute time limit. Hence, combined with the fact that all of his screenshots only take place in the first map, I conclude that the author has only played the POSTAL 2 demo, not the full game.
Naturally, when you're stuck in one map with a time limit ticking down, there's not much for you to do other than go on a shooting spree. It also wouldn't make for good reading if he simply said the real goal of the demo he played was to walk down to the store, buy some milk, and then head back home, all of which can be done in about a minute without a trace of violence.
So any of you play much Eternal Damnation back in the day?
It was a bit of an odd ball mod, with many new people learning how to mod as they went along (me included). The game didn't really have any design, it was just kinda improvised. Despite all this it ended up being quite an ambitious mod spanning a good 3-4 hours with a lot of features missing from P2 at the time. It had it's highs and lows but over all I was pretty amazed at what came to be, even though it got very rushed towards the end as Resurrection Studios promised Vince we'd have it ready for the Fudge pack compilation, and even though I got taken on with RWS I never quite let go of ED and picked away at a remake of it over the years. In the end I let it go and these updates sat unfinished and unreleased.
Fast forward to today, and due to workshop coming to P2 I decided to blow off the dust and pick it back up, and will also bring some of the team into effort to polish it up a little as it seems more worthwhile to now (many more people likely to play it, and it's a good way to showcase Workshop). Will be interesting to see what people make of it, but really it's just fun to return to my roots and getting the game a bit closer to how I wish it was back in 2006 using the knowledge and team I have now.
Hell yes I loved Eternal Damnation. When it was first released one of my quotes about the game referring to it as 'fucking kick ass' was used on the resurrection studios website just after release.
Great, then you'll love what's been done since!
