So.... what is everyone hoping for in Postal Redux?
So.... what is everyone hoping for in Postal Redux?
I hope for Postal 1 in HD
I hope for Postal 1 in HD
And then it turns out that RWS release The Adventures of Melvin Freebush in HD instead and everyone is disappointed
SO apparently Toploader has/had/use to have the P3 beta (if I can call it that). Biggest question I've got is whether or not it even exists anymore.

If he did still have it, wouldn't he have put it on t'interweb for fans to download and mess around with?

Cold, bitter [sp]POSTAL[/sp]
Honestly, I'm hoping for more disturbing mindfucks.

RWS are more than likely still capable of doing the whole "disturbing as fuck" vibe, considering there's a fair few disturbing moments in P2 and even Paradise Lost. (If you walk into one bathroom, there's a guy who says "mother never loved me" and then proceeds to shoot himself in the head.) So hopefully Redux will manage to keep the disturbing theme.
They better not remove the "charm" from Postal 1. I'll be sad if they do. :frown:
They better not remove the "charm" from Postal 1. I'll be sad if they do. :frown:
what is this nebulous "charm" exactly?
seems like a nostalgia goggles kind of thing

The psychological horror theme. It's pretty much the best part of Postal 1

I played the game for the first time last year and I know exactly what he means. It's got a great atmosphere, can't say I've played anything like it.
Postal 1's "charm" comes from how it's a pretty much humorless game about mass murdering innocents
You're not played out to be a hero, or even a villain, but more just a deeply unwell person who snaps and goes crazy. At least that's my interpretation, others may see it differently
[editline]18th February 2016[/editline]
I use "charm" sparingly because killing innocent people isn't exactly charming :v:
It's also just a plain fucking creepy game
The loading screens have seriously fucked up images, not due to things like gore, but just from being surreal and disturbing

There's no context to the images or sounds you hear, but I think they're implying that the postal dude is hallucinating really badly both audibly and visibly
[editline]18th February 2016[/editline]
You also get fun quotes with the level screens like these:
"[10/17/97] The earth is hungry. Its heart throbs and demands cleansing. The earth is also thirsty..."

It's probably an unpopular opinion among the postal fanbase, but I very much prefer Postal 1 over 2. They're almost uncomparable though, really. Postal 1 is an isometric horror shooter (I would describe it as horror, at least. Horror themes, maybe?) with little to no humor, and Postal 2 is a satirical FPS with politcally incorrect humor and over the top violence.
Great news, guys. Catharsis: Reborn's been officially approved by Running With Scissors.

Considering RWS's opinion of postal 3, it is really surprising. They also didn't have any issues with the project remaking Postal 2 in unreal engine 3 (not sure what happened to that). Plus when you consider that most of the core staff at this point were postal 2 modders, it would be strange for them to not approve.

Not the way I expected it to look like, but I like this style too. The only thing that disappoints me is gunsounds from Postal 2.

I really like the style they've chosen as well, yeah. Not too bothered about gunsounds. Definitely hyped for this.
What gun sounds from P2 do you hear?
I personally recognize the bullet flesh impact sounds and lots of automatic weapons using P2's M16
"The game will lbe quite different from what gamers may remember. Instead of a first-person perspective, screenshots show Postal Redux playing from an overhead and isometric perspective." -Polygon.com
Because according to games journalism, POSTAL 1 was in first person. The game's not even out yet and they're already talking bollocks.

It's a niche game of course the big sites are going to be extra lazy and avoid doing even the most basic research just to get their facts straight.
Why inform people correctly about everything and have some credibility?
It's disappointing that they didn't go full on with hand drawn children illustration book art style for the characters. They really stick out like a sore thumb, like something you'd see in a late 90's CGI
To be honest, I was expecting graphics to be more like in Hatred. By that I mean more realistic. And this looks pretty cartoonish.

Thank god, the atmosphere remains unchanged. Glooooorious~
Even a small glimpse of the loading screens and a bit of music, which looks and sounds pretty good. Can't say I like some of the sounds tho. :v:
Interesting thing I found: The original storyboards for Postal 3 by RWS artist Steve Wik. http://imgur.com/a/qItoO

How did Akella manage to fuck up Postal 3 so goddamn badly?
How did Akella manage to fuck up Postal 3 so goddamn badly?
There's a writeup of the whole story somewhere
TL;DR Game was supposed to be developed by Akella's A-Team, but they got fired mid development due to Akella hemorraging money
At this point the game got handed over to Akella's B-Team, which was simply no match for the previous team. What could've been a good game was basically doomed

I know what you mean, the storyboards here and the concept art look genuinely great compared to what we actually ended up with. I'd love to read the rest of the storyboards but these were all I could find.
Postal 3 Unreal? I haven't heard anything.
Postal 3 Unreal? I haven't heard anything.
http://www.moddb.com/mods/postal-3-unreal
Made by the Russians who did the Beta mod for P3.
