I doubt Akella even knew what those optimisation features were, considering it was made by an inexperienced team.
I'm fresh out of my first try of Postal 3 and to be honest, the game isn't that bad. I expected to get something pretty boring, buggy and forgettable but I ended up having lots of fun.
It's not as good as Postal 2 but it still keeps myself entertained, which is enough.
There are 3 things I really dislike about Postal 3 though :
No open world. The open city of paradise was the main essence of Postal 2 which allows you to do whatever you want. Postal 3 has small maps with constant objectives. No time and room for fun.
3rd person. The moving animations are pretty wonky and when you sprint, the camera moves like if there was a goddamn earthquake. The ranged weapons are fine and cover works well but it's nearly impossible to melee people. I don't get how it's not 1st person. The game even uses Source Engine, which is actually used for 1st person games.
Source Engine. The engine itself is fine but cannot handle Postal 3 properly as the levels often end up being huge messes, full of people, props and stuff. Getting lots of FPS drops and sometimes crashes because of that.
So yeah, I think Postal 3 is good. But it could've been way better. Bought it on an impulse, and as the Dude says : I regret nothing.
No open world is one of the reasons Apocalypse Weekend wasn't that great, it often felt like a poor comedy FPS. I only played to the end because I knew it was short and I loved the base game. Getting to fight [sp]Mike Jaret[/sp] was worth it though.

Oh, wait, that's not Akella and/or Trashmasters. Wrong video. Here's the right video:

I have to say, I like RWS's development practices better. Much more arousing.

Beat the game and you are given free roam but you start with all weapons, ammo/weapons seem rare to find (Maybe not as common as Postal 2), and cops don't arrest you

I burned some guys and I found this head several minutes later. It refused to go out, and the effects got out of hand. So I had fun kicking it around town for a while, lighting everyone on fire with it.
Postal 2 has some of the best bugs in it.
"Would you like to sign my petition?"
No way you freaking pinko

it's a joke everywhere and been that way for a while
the joke is that druid's face. just look at it
it's incredibly silly

Apparently the game ends with you finding out there were never any druids, after using druid magic to go back in time.
