Ha 11 of you have applied already, amazing, I'm sure you'd all be a massive help. I'll probably cap it at 30, please only apply if you are really serious in the long haul and are happy to play the game beyond the point it's fun anymore ;)
When I applied I had that in mind. I know that being a QA tester doesn't just mean you get to play games for fun. It's tedious work.
Didn't think much of it, I thought you just needed playtesters
Not to say I'm not up for it, but if you reach your cap feel free to give my spot to someone else
It might just be that I finished the game like 5 times in the past 2 weeks so..
Yeah, it's a bit more than playtesting although that will be helpful too, we'll see how it goes and how many others sign up. Still blown away by all this, love you guys!
And lets take a moment to thank Gary for bringing us all together, I'll go guy Rust right now for that reason alone. (funny fact, I was posting here for a few weeks before I noticed this was actually the forums for Garys' mod ect....)

Rust is toxic
Looks like the sort of game I should not play because I'll never get any work done...

Okay now I have to try this game, I don't normally support the 'selling Alpha games at full price' model, but as I say, I'm pretty thankful for Gary right now and that video was priceless.
Just to be clear, I'm not anti this way of doing things, just not something I'd normally buy into.

no no, it's toploaderr
Yo Toploader, I got a slight question. How on earth is the the whole testing thing going to happen? Is it going to be the generic "Come down to ____ at cumstain o'clock" or is it going to be something like "We'll email you the stuff etc"? (I live in the UK, so realistically I can't fly to America just to visit the RWS HQ :v:)
Also I believe you could implement a closed beta via steam, and let people activate it with a key if it'd help.
If I had to guess, they would take advantage of the Steam Beta feature. He mentioned earlier that it was all remote.

Exactly, this is how we operate. I live in the UK too and lead things from here, we work remotely. You'd be allowed into our dev forums and our bug / suggestion trackers and you make threads there and link them to the tracker.

10/10 Would make desktop again.
I played this a few years ago, A friend gifted me the game and been replaying it. I still find the game fun and enjoyable.
And question, where can I find the scythe?
Speaking of bugs, I found two minor ones.
My friend had problems doing the brewery on POSTAL/Impossible so I recorded a quick video for them for fun. During recording I found a bug and caught it on film. (I never intended to have this publicly released so forgive the poor production quality.)

Under this table from 6:25 to 6:40 is a grenade launcher and I simply cannot reach it.

This is the Greenbelt map, the one with the bank in it. This tunnel leads to Main Street, the map with the Library and Lucky Ganesh. However, the picture displayed at the end of the tunnel shows the Ghetto map, the map with the police station.

Could you be more specific as to what it entails? I know playtesting is more than just dicking about in a game, but i don't know to what extent. I'd love to contribute in playtesting as i've been playing this game for years and i also have this really odd talent of breaking games completely on accident but i'd like to know HOW involved it can become.

I encounter that quite often actually but have always been able to kick the weapon out from it's tight jam.

Depends. Basically we'll roll out updates to our beta, you guys would see the change log, and I'd ask you to either test something directly or you can just try out various things to see if you can break them.
If you find a bug, you then open our shared google spread sheet and then add it onto it so for example:
A46 - mysteryman - 06/06/06 - Mike J should dance, not puke, when pissed on - www.linktoforumpost.com - Critical
Also there will be times we simply ask you to play the game, start to end, as you would for fun, and report any bugs that my occur in a natural play though. We'll also get you to try and break things for the hell of it.
Any more questions just ask, I should really have elaborated more at the start.

Oh man so it's literally mostly stuff i already do. I'd absolutely love to help you guys. Would this serve as an application as is or should i still pm you? Granted you're still taking folks.
It'd be neat to help further a game i played when i was much younger.
Gotta get the postal dude some acne cream, looked in the mirror and spotted a blackhead!

First thing I'm doing when workshop is out is making a pistol capable of shooting individual limbs off people too. Or multiple weapons of sorts that are capable of that

I remember in AWP, the silenced pistol in Enhanced Mode had this property.
Got time to waste but not the attention span.
Are load zones ever going to be removed?
Do they need to be, though? I mean, on a modern system maps load in seconds.
I imagine all they'd have to do would be take all the little map parts and connect them together to make the map, but
A) There's probably engine limitations on that so they'd have to remake the whole engine
B) There's probably code limitations that would require them to rewrite almost all of the main coding (Ped spawns, event triggers, cutscenes, and so on)
The levels load pretty quick now so I dont mind

That's also ignoring the fact that the frame rate would be freaking horrendous if they actually did connect all of the sections into one map.

Defo PM, I'll go though them in a few days and I might forget you if you're not there.
And yeah, load zones will not be removed in this engine, we'd need streaming for that and it's well beyond what we can do.

I dont have a job right now, and got nothing to do right now, so ill be able to roll in the bug reports.

So how did you meet the other devs, was it in person or is it all remote? Also I wish I had more free time to become a tester but I won't lie, I'm rather busy. Is there any more ways chumps such as myself can lend our support? I love what you're doing, I want to help in one way or another.

Then you guys should kidnap a development team that does know how to, and get them to train you guys.
I'd love to be a beta tester, but unfortunately school would get in the way.
So how did you meet the other devs, was it in person or is it all remote? .
Sure, I spent time in Tucson back in 2006 / 2007 when PIII was starting out before that all went to shit, but they first heard of me due to the mods I worked on and the heavy involvement I had in P2 MP back in the day. They advertised a job that I applied for, they accepted me and flew me out to the states and it kinda went from there. I was working in bars and clubs before that...

I don't think you understand what engine limitations are...
