The previous thread got locked in the thread massacre and nobody had made a new one yet, so I decided to do it.

Heroes of Stalingrad takes the award winning Red Orchestra franchise into the next generation of gaming. Cutting edge graphics and audio built on Unreal Engine 3, inventive features and streamlined realism deliver an unrivaled WWII experience. Focusing on the Battle of Stalingrad and the surrounding operations, both German and Russian, from July 1942 to February 1943 the game allows the player to experience one of the most brutal battles in all of human history. For the first time ever in a first person shooter gamers will be able to experience WWII from the Axis side in a German single player campaign. As always with the Red Orchestra franchise, Tripwire deliver unrivaled accuracy and attention to detail, along with gritty, vicious combat in multi-player, co-op and solo modes.
Rising Storm is a standalone expansion of Red Orchestra 2, it is set in the Pacific campaign of 1941-45. The game covers the famous island-hopping campaigns in the Pacific from 1942 to 1945 as the US Army and Marine Corps fight it out with the Imperial Japanese army and Special Naval Landing Forces. Featuring some of the most brutal fighting in the Pacific theater, players are able to experience beach assaults, jungle fighting, close quarters night fighting and more across Guadalcanal, Iwo Jima and Saipan, among other historic hot spots. The player is able to take the part of either side – American or Japanese – battling it out online in full player versus player multi-player.

Game Modes
Territory Mode: This is the original gamemode that made Red Orchestra famous. Attack, Hold and Defend objectives within the set timelimit, or until one side runs out of reinforcements.
Countdown Mode: Countdown mode is a single life gametype that is governed by a short countdown timer. Players will have to attack or defend a series of objectives, but with only one life per objective. If the attackers capture the objective, all players respawn and move to the next objective. If they do not capture the objective before the timer expires, they lose. Maps will have "key objectives" which when taken will allow the attacking team a single respawn on a later failed capture.
Firefight Mode: Red Orchestra's version of team deathmatch. This mode has no class limits.
Multiplayer Campaign Mode: The campaign map is divided into 10 smaller maps. The players vote which map to attack, and can decide how much of their Combat Power they want to use on the attack. Each campaign can last a maximum of 4 hours.
My cover had been blown. The doors slammed shut behind me, and then I was dodging bullets like raindrops.
context:
Only a few guys left on Bridges and with 7 minutes left in the match with no chance to win I decided I'd just kill myself. Then my brother informed me there were a few guys to the right of the building and then of course the rest you can see in the video.

also does anyone know how to fix my ability to see through stuff
its really annoying and i keep walking into walls
love this game, i should reinstall soon
In the previous thread there was a discussion on how bots learned to prone, but is it just me or did they learn more than that?
I've seen them crouch-sprint occasionally, and the Rising Storm bots using sniper rifles.
Woo.
After nearly 400 hours of playing, I finally got all of my classes (except engineer and auto-rifleman) and most of my weapons to max level.
It was lots of fun, but my favorite class remains to be Type 38 rifleman hero.
MGer is fun too, love using the Type MGs specifically.
Watched two recon planes collide into each other earlier today:

They got stuck to each other for a second and then continue flying by like nothing happened.
I recently started Red Orchestra 2 when I was really bored and had nothing to do. Hadn't played it since it was released. It's a magnificent game, nothing really compares to it. I've tried to get into BF4, but I got bored after 3 hours of gameplay.
It really should get more recognition. My greatest wish for this game is that it would be updated, with better server browsers/lobbys and a better menu UI.
I usually play on The Wild Bunchs servers. Come play with me!
my problem with this game is that its really really unoptimized. i run BF4 on max and i cant even run RO2 on lowest settings.

i'm the opposite so you're wrong.
Thread version title should have been "Bought it for the mods."
Ha.
Ha.
Fucking ha.
I was hoping there would be a winter war mod but the only one is dead
Yeah, the modding process for this game is incredibly annoying. Plus there's seemingly no way to make client-only mods.
EDIT: speaking of mods, if anyone saw the unused drivable Japanese tank I posted in the Modeling subforum, I started a project on putting it back in the game.
Frustrates me to no end that there's so much shit that tripwire just gave up on and didn't implement into these games. Hopefully you can manage something with that ha-go, looks awesome!
Usable field guns and AA, molotovs, unarmed melee, disarming people. The latter two were in RO1 weren't they? Field guns were in Darkest Hour. Lots of shortcomings with tank combat as well, even when just compared to RO1.
It's still a great game though, which makes me even more annoyed that tripwire seem to have just given up on improving it.
Unarmed melee combat and disarming people is kinda unnecessary imo. It's far too situational to make it worth implementing.
One of the greatest things in RO1 was shooting someone as they were bounding from cover to cover and hitting them in the hand making them drop their rifle and watching them panic, trying to decide whether they should go back for it or not.
They should add that back in.
Unarmed melee combat and disarming people is kinda unnecessary imo. Your rifle has a chance of stopping a bullet for you, but then you have no rifle. It made for some hilarious moments, and if sniper jacking was ever a problem you just prevent it from happening between teammates. Having unarmed melee "hands" would also remove the need to prevent players form dropping their last weapon, which I've managed to basically always break anyway.
And punching people is always fun. If you disagree you're wrong.
I thought disarming was some kind of unarmed combat move. That'd actually be cool to shoot a gun out of their hands though.
So I got 45 kills on Commissar's House, and this happened.

Unfortunately it got reset when the map changed, even though it was a ranked server.
tbh I think they should iron out all the bugs including above first, before adding anything decent in
[editline]24th January 2015[/editline]
I miss being able to join as spectator and bypass the maximum player limit, that was a good bug.

Well, to be fair Rising Storm was made by a community mod team, not TWI themselves.
But still. I've been poking around in the files, and the amount of unused stuff is absolutely INSANE.
Spider holes, portable radios, grease guns, field guns, bazookas, Japanese flamethrowers, suicide bombers, the list goes on.
I know people hate machinegun hip fire but going full kerberos panzer cop with a MG42 against a room full of russians never gets old.
I know people hate machinegun hip fire but going full kerberos panzer cop with a MG42 against a room full of russians never gets old.
I don't. It's incredible.
I find it a bit disappointing how most people in RO2 rather choose the endless cycle of Apartments, Grain Elevator and Barracks instead of the more complicated maps like Arad and Demyansk.
I had a match on Arad tonight and it was an absolute back-and-forth game the entire match. Combat with Tanks, Transport Carriers and Infantry all together makes for some incredibly hectic gameplay.
It is a shame that the maps with transport carriers don't get voted on too much, they are a very interesting addition to RO2.

It's because most players want infantry combat with little to no interference from vehicles.

Ninjaing around a tank and destroying it with anti-tank grenades is so fun and cool.

they should stop trying to make it cod and let it be how it is. that is why i love battlefield, that great feeling you get when you take down a tank by yourself.
Speaking of which, you got your wish CertainDOOM!
