Red Orchestra 2: Heroes of Stalingrad V5 - Rising Storm

Ah, that's not so bad then. M79 would be for longer range grenadiering (or using those sweet ass buckshot rounds, better to have he and smokes tho so you can help team) and the other loadout for closer range assaults
The great thing about the M1 & M2 in real life was they were incredibly light. Less than five Kilograms I think? Less than most bolt-actions or submachine guns. Yet it still had such mild recoil.
Somehow I actually managed to kill somebody with a huey door gunner.
Even beat my previous distance record.

Would any one know how I can host my own private server with bots for a few friends in RS2?
At the moment bots are hardcoded to be offline singleplayer only. Plus most maps don't have correct pathing for them.
I've been wanting to edit the stock maps to add proper bot support but I haven't found the time for it yet.
Just played on a 128+ player server and I think I have PTSD now.
The Mega Server is actually incredibly good fun, even if most of the maps do not jive well with the numbers. On the other hand, I feel that some maps like Operation Forrest really seem like they were made with 100+ players in mind in the first place.
The server is actually surprisingly playable with the numbers, but ping and FPS do no doubt suffer.
For a couple days the mega server was pretty much just a lie, it was just 32v32 with a bazillion spectators. Guess they managed to figure it out now.

This guy somehow got turned into a living smoke grenade
Am I the only one that actually enjoys playing commander?
I used to, but it's been awhile and I completely forget how to play Commander or SL now.
The only thing I'm good at is dying
Smoke grenades, particularly US smoke grenades are . . . weird. You can pull the pin of the smoke grenade just like the US frag grenade as if you were cooking it. If you fail to chuck it right away though some buggy shit happens such as getting stuck on your other non-cooked smoke grenade, forcing you to use your drop key to get rid of it. Also rarely, if you do this for whatever reason you will end up throwing the cooked grenade, and immediately dropping another cooked smoke grenade at your feet! That, and if you do this you have to throw it like half a second or so after pulling the pin or it just drops at your feet.
I am not even sure if you are supposed to be able to cook the smoke grenades in the first place.
So you're telling me if I cook off all my smoke grenades in my hands I turn into the Lost smoke monster? I see no problem with this.
Don't feel too bad. Everyone had to start there eventually.
If you tough out the early learning curve, you'll find yourself learning enemy weapon sounds and uniforms. Then it's pretty much 99% map knowledge and awareness that will carry you to the top of the scoreboard.
Patience is everything. Starting off, I had a real problem just spawning and running towards the control point, I still do on occasion. If you want some semblance of longevity in life, you gotta cut your pies and be willing to sit in a bush for 2 minutes until you're absolutely sure nobody's gonna shoot you the millisecond you step out. Matches in RS2 are almost excruciatingly long, so you don't have to rush.
So there are servers now for over a hundred players?
Pretty much, but like I said; it's weird.
There is one currently, the Mega Server, and I heard they went up to something like ~60 vs ~60. It's really fun and hectic, as I said, but your mileage will vary in terms of map balance; watching 100+ people trying to duke it out on a skirmish map is absolutely horrifying.
This is to say nothing of frame rate and ping, which will continue to suffer more and more as the number climbs. Oh, and don't bother trying to seriously kill anyone with a single explosive on the server (grenades, cobra rockets, rpgs, C4, etc) as their damage has been cut down laughably.
Had a badass standoff with someone the other day. Me and an American run into a small open area and see each other. I fire and hit him, he goes into bleed out and starts firing his semi-auto at me. I'm hit and go into bleed out, I keep shooting and hit him again and he goes down. Then as I'm dying another GI comes up from the same area and finishes me off.
I miss last stands in RS2: Vietnam.
ARVN coming May 29th!
Hell yeah! Can't wait to check these bois out.
They even added all the guns I was hoping they'd add with them.
@SgtJoe not sure if you would have preferred to have this here or on your mod's page but I figured here it would allow for some discussion.
I had some ideas for your mod that should be feasible and not "add a tank". Basically it's just changes to Northern gameplay to reflect more on the type of warfare they practiced.
For spawning I had 2 competing changes. First would be the bring back the "spawn bunkers" we saw in early Rising Storm 1 footage (except it obviously being a tunnel instead). The second is replacing the forward deployment ability for the North commander and allowing him to place down a "team tunnel" that anyone can use, even if you're playing the NVA who don't normally get tunnels. Maybe add a certain amount of spawns on it (if possible) if it's too overpowered.
The other thing I wanted to suggest was tickets. Not sure how tickets are set up on every map but I think generally when on the defense the North should get a lot more tickets than the Southern forces because the NVA/VC had lots of manpower to rely upon. I guess in a way somewhat similar way to real life tactics the North should be about slowing the South's advances to a crawl while also making it so the South can't just deplete the defender's tickets to win the game through its firepower advantage. Basically a way to make the US commit to attacking instead of staying back and killing respawn waves like I see in the base game.
Cheers!
PS: Wish I could play your mod more often but it's never on a server in my region when I want to play it. That Powerbits server is apparently supposed to run it but every time I try to join it never does.
Wish they'd had the Garand with scope in RS1.
I dunno what the hell is going on with that server, sometimes I go on and it's on, sometimes I go on and it's just stock cu chi, hue, and hill in a loop.
Theres a bunch of new achievements currently locked in the game, check them out
Commander is the cushiest role.
Transport pilot, now THAT's a difficult job.
Either go all the way or not at all is my standpoint on it.
I like the ambush spawn the Vietnamese can do with their commander, makes it much more useful IMO.
ARVN being released today right?
Oh hey, they made a Facepunch DLC for RS2.

I didn't even know this game had DLC.
