Alright, alright, I'll get you some ammo, jeez. :v:
If the bot AI was decent, do you think that would help?
I'm rather annoyed that whoever made the AI overlooked making them give ammo to machine gunners.
speaking of things that bother us I hate how not all the trees in the forests of Bridges of Druzhina are actually solid. If you move too far to the sides you'll be basically in open field, as the tree sprites do not provide any cover of sorts
I absolutely despise that they broke being able to mark artillery positions through some foliage.
Does anyone know if AI can be modded?
Totally. The AI behavior is in a regular .uc file just like everything else.
So I played Red Orchestra 1 for several hours today, and despite the outdated graphics it was quite fun. I even daresay it's more fun than RO2. Everything's a bit simpler, there's less things to concentrate on, and it just seems more relaxed. Plus it has some cool unique features, like detachable bayonets, armored cars, SPGs, static AT cannons, and entering/exiting tanks.

And tank battles feel like alot less of a chore. I mean cool as the ro2 interiors are I would rather the old tanking system, it actually promoted team play because the crew shared points. Also there was more uniform variety based on what units were fighting (ss, guards, etc) which is cool.
Everytime I run up against an enemy player in this game by surprise and manage to lay down a shot before getting capped to death, it's like it doesn't even register even though I know for sure that I got them in the chest with my rifle a second before they hit me. I don't get it, is it a bug? Also, I got a cool killstreak last night on Stalingrad Kessel. I was a Soviet squad leader pushing my squad up through the right side doors by A. We initially had lots of trouble getting through the first set of doors, as the other team had an MG42 spraying bullets in our direction from the destructible door. So I popped a smoke through the doorway and a few frags to clear anything out in the dead man's land between the two doorways. We pushed hard, stacking up against the blown out door, nades galore tossed at us. We were frequent diving for cover up against the other side of the warehouse. It was a long few minutes of waiting for reinforcements. I got impatient of waiting for support so I took the initiative; I ran out into the courtyard, spraying two Germans up on the stairs to the main warehouse. I didn't expect to hit anyone though, it was just suppressive fire whilst I ran for cover to the crates. By surprise, I managed to hit the two of them. Next, I scavenged a few grenades from the few dead Germans around me and tossed them into the next small warehouse. Boom, another one was down. I could hear their reinforcements move up however so I sprinted to the left of their door wave and dived behind another set of crates. When they ran out, they didn't see the muzzle flash of my PPSh-41. It was a good game. [t]http://i.imgur.com/FQYfMOG.png[/t] quick tactical sketch

You can shoot bullets that don't exist because you died before you fired them, even though on your client you aren't dead yet.
I don't understand the big deal with detachable bayonets. If I had to attach them every single time I spawned then I'd just never use them.
on/off by default in options with the other settings
Totally. The AI behavior is in a regular .uc file just like everything else.
You think I should try it? I'm not much of a programmer, though I've been doing it a few years (nothing serious mind you) I would feel so smug if I could out-do Tripwire by making it better. Maybe I could even make it good.
Make the bots immediately dash towards any live satchels, and bam, you've got yourself some authentic player AI.
Make the bots immediately dash towards any live satchels, and bam, you've got yourself some authentic player AI.
I might make the Japanese do their suicide charges in genuine real life fashion. That should be fairly simple to do at least. What all would you think? I'd like a reason to actually use the M1917 HMG. Speaking of HMGs, I wonder if it's actually possible to make the AI use the HMGs. I think that might be doable though.
The file is ROAIController.uc located in the ROGame package. Ask me if you need any specifics in setting things up. Good luck.
Can you also change AI names in that? I want to change all the Japanese names to Tojo.
No, the AI names are in the localization files. (ROGame/Localization/INT/ROGameInfo.int)
I really wish this game had more regular players, and not just "ohh free weekend/75% off everyone play for a night or so" it's honestly is the most satisfying WWII fps I've ever played
I had hundreds of hours in RO1 but for some reason RO2/RS just doesn't do it for me. The game itself is good and i can't put my finger on anything and be like 'AHA! this is what's wrong with the game' but it's just not as satisfying as RO1. These days i get my 'realistic shooter' fix from Insurgency.
You know, someday if I'm successful enough with my other games, or have the resources at least (modeler, texture artist, etc) I want to make a WWI game like this but better.
how do i play this game if i get 20 frames at all graphics settings
On a computer that isn't a calculator.
It's really fun running into people who know how to make you laugh, some dude had that Solid Snake voice down and would mockingly repeat everything some dude on the other team says and occasionally just blurt out "Metal Queer" in dat fucking snake voice from time to time. That and some dude said this cheesey joke "We gonna bring these Japanese to their knees because they belong on their knees, these Japanese. Knees, Japaknees" I laughed way harder then I should had.
Whenever I play on this Australian server I frequent someone will always say whenever the Japanese team loses "go commit Sudoku" and it gets me everytime.
Honestly memeshit like that is just annoying to me. But then again I only play with bots so I guess I just haven't been exposed to it enough. Also, the tripod MG34 is the best in the game. Unlike the other HMGs, you can reload it any time you want, and reloading mid-belt is much faster than reloading when empty.
I remember playing Rising Storm with an australian team leader once, every time he said something over his mike 5-10 people would just start saying NOICE NOICE NOICE.
how do i play this game if i get 20 frames at all graphics settings
I get like ~30fps regardless of resolution and most graphics settings weird
Whenever I play on this Australian server I frequent someone will always say whenever the Japanese team loses "go commit Sudoku" and it gets me everytime.
I seen some guy shout "For glorious nipple!" over voice chat during a banzai charge once.
Honestly i love how there are people that play their faction right. I remember playing on a campaign with axis and there was this called Führer and everytime we were on the campaign map people asked for his orders and everyone did what he asked. The community in this game is crazy sometimes, but that is just the way i love it.
