I'm a giant dumb, I was looking at the depot history to find the manifest numbers, when the app history had a much longer list that goes back way further.
This is from May 29th, 2013 Rising Storm/Red Orchestra 2 Multiplayer - App #35450, Depot #35451, Manifest #468492942112955372.

EDIT:
Seargent, have you possibly found the Alpha banzai icon? It was an MSPaint drawing one of our guys did of a charging Japanese officer, and when a banzai was done, it'd come up and go into ravelights. It was amazing.
Hah, nice. I don't think that exists anymore unfortunately. Anything that was not packaged in the main game at one point is forever lost.
As you saw, the dedicated server has a bunch of true beta stuff, but due to the lack of textures they're useless.
The Beta SNLF have been completely restored!

I got to say, they look waaay better than the silly junk they have currently.
Congrats, you officially love this game more than Tripwire.

Hey now it only took like 3 years for them to bring transport vehicles, it's clear how much they care.

Which were little more than the transports ripped straight from RO1 by some modders. :v:
Those outfits look so damn cool. I wish they were used on Betio and Otorishima like they were supposed to be.
Especially Otorishima, the IJN team just sticks out so much on that map compared to the Americans.
Question: I have mostly played Forgotten Hope 2 when it comes to WW2 multiplayer FPS games, but what with it being a mod of Battlefield 2, it's starting to show its age. If I went into RO2 or RS now, would any of my skills learned from FH2 translate over to either of the new games?
In other words, would it be a good idea to buy RO2 and RS?
While FH2 is much grander in scope and content, the infantry gameplay is generally pretty comparable so you should fare alright.
Personally I'd take FH2 over RO2 but nobody in Australia plays it.
Yeah sucks man. The only consistently populated server is in Germany. There's also an American one that's fairly regularly populated as well, but I don’t know about it.
I might give at least RO2 a try and see how I like it. Worse comes to worst, I can always get a refund like I did with Verdun. Thanks for the info.

I take it you were disappointed in Verdun as well?
Verdun's bad?
That's kinda disappointing it looked pretty neat.
I like Verdun; even more so than RO2 :c
I guess that what I meant to say was that the game itself wasn't objectively bad. I just didn't expect the stuff like absurd class progression (you only start with a melee and two nades as a German assault class at level 1... what?) and a sense that the battles are really just skirmishes due to the number of players and the map sizes.
Oh sure, I absolutely ate up the atmosphere and the authenticity. Charging into a trench with a bayonet and killing an MG nest with a swift stab to the back was pretty damned fun, but overall I couldn't bring myself to enjoy it. Not when I've become used to FH2's scope and class system.
You might enjoy it. I sure didn't though.
Edit:
I mean, ffs, I can understand stuff like the early-war assault class having nothing other than a couple of grenades and a melee weapon, but then everyone in the match has to have similar if not the same limitations. Coming up against an assault with a trench gun when you only have a measly knife is not fun at all.

It's not bad if you take it on its own and don't compare it to anything else, but if you're expecting RO2 in WWI you're going to be disappointed.
It's a shame Unreal is such a poop to work with, because I would have loved to see that one WW1 mod come to fruition.
Verdun suffers from sluggish controls, more so than RO2. The squad level thing is a little wonky too. Otherwise its perfectly fine.
Yeah I really enjoy Verdun and RO2 as their own seperate games.
I'm still working on my WWII game about the invasion of Japan for whatever that might be worth. I decided to try and make a working survival gamemode first so I can just focus on making stuff like AI work.

Very nice, the Special Naval Landing Forces were pretty hardcore.

I was having a look at the store page for RO2 and noticed that there's a Deluxe edition. What's the difference between the regular copy from the Deluxe one?

Deluxe gives you immediate access to certain unlockable weapons, and a badge/medal on your ingame character. The latter might have been a pre-order thing, though.
You can upgrade to deluxe any time you want actually. It's not a pre-order bonus.
It also comes with the soundtrack if I remember correctly. Should be in the game's folder somewhere if you have it.
Also, hats.
You got any rips or whatever of the burned textures of the soldiers in Rising Storm? I'm trying to make some burned textures for guys in my game and I was hoping they could help provide some insight.
RS uses an absolute godawful burn/gore method, I recommend you look at COD WaW instead.
Got any examples of the textures WaW uses then?
Well.
I can safely say that I enjoy RO2 far more than Verdun.
How are you supposed to git gud at sniping? Practicing against AI is fine and all for learning how to actually hit targets, but they don't act even remotely human so that's about all you can use them for. But if you go on a server, select sniper and you're not the reincarnation of Vasily Zaytsev the first time you take sniper, you're bad and should go back to rifleman.
