xm21 looking good now we just need an xm22 <3

"More automatic weapons" that's expected
"Crying out for a smaller more competitive game mode" I'm... not so sure about that.
I want big combined arms stuff. Needs more light armour.
I want big combined arms stuff. Which is sad because RO2 had pretty good tank mechanics although that also meant there were fewer vehicles in it than there was in RO1.

But that aside, since they are saying they are adding more open maps in RS2 I really hope we at least see APCs or maybe some light armor like the Sheridan.
Gumrak might be a wet fart that empties servers, but I believe that's largely because tank on tank combat was never really finished.

People like the maps with one or two tanks per teams, just not the big open ones like Arad2 where playing as anything other than a tank drastically decreases your life expectancy along with heavily increasing walk time back to the front.

I think they could work if the player count was increased to 64v64 and we had some better AT weapons. Because the AT rifles won't do jackshit if you don't know where exactly to hit the tank. If you do then you can just blow it up in 2-3 shots maybe even less.
I know I'm just a nostalgic knob but I still think they should've just kept tank mechanics more or less as they were in RO1. I mean sure the animations and shit look nice but it's not practical to create and just bugged the hell out of the game. Leave it to the tank sims. By comparison tank and combined arms maps in RO1 were easily some of the best in the game. Leningrad and Black day July of particular note.
The tanks in Red Orchestra II are about as stable as a one legged barstool. Hit an enemy T-34 in the rear where its armor is at its weakest and the engine is easily damaged? Bounce, bounce, bounce Have your T-34 hit once, head on at the front glacis where the armor comes together at its strongest bond? Explosion so powerful your turret is broken open. Not to mention the animations bug out half the damn time and I've had it to where my guy is fidgeting in his seat like a crack addict
So I got to play a round of Rising Storm 2 at PAX East yesterday. As a fan of the first, I absolutely cant wait for the second. We did a scrimish mode which was infantry only, but as far as that goes, it basically seems to have improved upon RS1 in pretty much every way. The sound design and visuals were totally awesome.
I'm so fucking tired of finishing a RO2 match and watching the progress bar for my class to fill, and then finishing another match just to see that the bar has gone back to where it started :suicide:
I'm so fucking tired of finishing a RO2 match and watching the progress bar for my class to fill, and then finishing another match just to see that the bar has gone back to where it started :suicide:
Here's hoping that Rising Storm II fixes that. Progression in Red Orchestra II/Rising Storm I was an absolute slugfest mainly because each class required the same amount of XP to progress. I'm not able to be a machinegunner all the time. Hell, I have a fairly high honor rating but have still only gotten the pistols for MG since I don't always get the MG slot when I want to.
At least weapon unlocks have been removed.
This is basically the idea. We won't have 'better' stuff locked behind a level wall (improved weapons, better stats, &etc) but you will have ways to track and indicate your experience and progress. We figure being a more experienced player is advantage enough.
http://forums.tripwireinteractive.com/showthread.php?t=117221
At least weapon unlocks have been removed. http://forums.tripwireinteractive.com/showthread.php?t=117221
unsure how i feel about this
unsure how i feel about this
Heroes of the West should give you a pretty good indication?
Heroes of the West should give you a pretty good indication?
was too focused on the terrible balancing

Didn't really find much imbalance with the weapon unlocks. It was kind of useless that they were there given the upgrades themselves weren't much good and took forever to get. Besides the amount of weapons in RS2 will definitely offer better variety.
I still think the lvl 50 garand should get the grenade launcher upgrade
There aren't any upgrades better than skill. Except maybe the 250 round belt. I like that one.
tbh i think upgrades and unlocks should be lateral opposed to purely vertical
tbh i think upgrades and unlocks should be lateral opposed to purely vertical
It's kind of hard to do that and keep the game authetic. Except for maybe like the ability to allocate those percentage 'skill' bonuses you'd get in RO2 so even if you hit the top you can only min-max or be completely balanced instead of just being 100% good.
Finally, some actual gameplay footage!
Looks and sounds like it's only Vietcong that you'll be fighting and the NVA doesn't exist. Still hyped, regardless.
