AMG put a rpg backblast webm together. --------------------------------------------------------- Last week Yoshiro mentioned that he was going to be at GamesCon this week and wouldn’t have a chance to post another media update. The guys over at Antimatter Games put together another webm for you to demonstrate the RPG-7’s backblast. Anyway. The effects shown are WIP. [vid]http://media.tripwirecdn.com/081816/RPGBackblast.webm[/vid] The backblast from the RPG can be very lethal due to the gases and the concussive force involved with sending a 2.6kg rocket flying through the air at 110 meters per second, almost instantly. That cannon like force is projected out the back end of the RPG’s barrel and will affect other players up to 7 meters away. Another point of this video is to demonstrate the continuation of the gore and dismemberment system form the Red Orchestra series. You can also note the sawn-off variation of the IZH-43 and the change of elevation on the RPG-7’s rear sight. The level shown in this week’s media update (and last weeks) has a name. Song Be River, named after the Song Be river found in South Vietnam. I can already see the hilarity that will be occuring because of the backblast. How RPG players are going to get kicked from servers for backblasting teammates stupid enough to stand behind them?
Wouldn't be that much of a problem if RS2 let you use freelook to see if anyone is behind you.
Or I suppose give you a warning if someone is standing behind you. Not really immersion breaking, but can't be more annoying than "Cannot prone here".
Too bad the game won't have proxy chat, so good luck getting most people to realize you're talking to them.

I really hope that they give owners of Ostfront, RO2 and Rising Storm some sort of benefit, even if its just access to the beta.
I really hope that they give owners of Ostfront, RO2 and Rising Storm some sort of benefit, even if its just access to the beta.
You know the funny thing is, I've never received anything for owning a game before. Hoping that it'll be different this time.
I really hope that they give owners of Ostfront, RO2 and Rising Storm some sort of benefit, even if its just access to the beta.
seeing as mailing list asked nothing about steam profile or previously owning games i personally doubt it
seeing as mailing list asked nothing about steam profile or previously owning games i personally doubt it
I dunno, just having hopes. Shame tho
I got into the RO2 closed beta way back when, it would be neat to get in the RS2 closed beta too.
I can already see the hilarity that will be occuring because of the backblast. If you want acess to the Beta, you'd have to have a certain ammount of post in the TWI forum. and then once you do, you can participate in a thread. or contact someone close to TWI.
TWI forum mods have had access to the beta since early 2016 iirc
Once you get 1000 posts you get access to some super secret subforum, and there you could apply for a closed alpha. Although that's kinda moot now since they're going public beta.
Here's hoping there's a campaign mode for RS2. That's literally all I play in RO2/RS now. It's so much fun and you tend to find far more coordination
Devs confirmed campaign won't be in at launch, but maybe in a future update. Unfortunately I can't provide a source link since the forums have been down for like a week now.
there's a co-op campaign? or you mean just the regular singleplayer? also, rising storm has singleplayer?
Campaign means the large map/force on force stuff that happens at the end of a round on a campaign server. It's a map with different zones that each side votes on 1 area to attack/defend, and get bonuses or debuffs on how many troops they have. Then, whatever was voted on is the next map the server plays and decides the number of tickets on each side.
there's a co-op campaign? or you mean just the regular singleplayer? also, rising storm has singleplayer?
I think he means the multiplayer campaign where the teams decide who's attacking/defending certain maps
Holy shit, just opened this thread to see what you all were talking about and see that they are opening the Closed Beta. Honestly, I really hope I can get in. Was one of the Alpha Testers for Rising Storm back in the day. One thing that they need to release from the Alpha Build though is the MSPaint variant of the Banzai icon. Was absolutely glorious and most of the testers have been looking for it ever since the game's release.
in all my time playing red orchestra i have never seen or done this, i always jumped into a realism server.
most populated servers are like this i have no clue how you have never seen this
most populated servers are like this i have no clue how you have never seen this
idk, never clicked on it. it's definitely enough to get me back into the game though.
idk, never clicked on it. it's definitely enough to get me back into the game though.
Yeah, campaign meta is decent enough to attract most of the population of RO2/RS from what I've seen. And it's really fun too. The first servers that I jumped into were realism campaign servers, and I have tried the other game modes, but could never get into them like i did with the campaign servers.
It's back!
Hello everyone! We are back with another media update for Rising Storm 2: Vietnam. Today’s media update covers our (as always Work in Progress) gore and dismemberment system for Vietnam. Consider this montage a continuation of the previous media updates about the new ragdoll system and RPG-7 backblast. The above montage shows various types of strikes and their outcome on the ragdoll. Mines and explosives can obliterate or gib enemies. Big machine guns like the DShK have the ability to tear limbs off of players. It wouldn’t be Vietnam if Lt. Dan wasn’t losing his legs.
http://forums.tripwireinteractive.com/forum/rising-storm-2-vietnam/rs2-vietnam-news-and-announcements/news-and-announcements-ag/2268048-media-update-gore https://steamcommunity.com/games/418460/announcements/detail/976540585704250239 So it seems the gore is pretty much the same as in RO2, only new thing is that heavy MGs can now trigger it too.
Those blood decals don't look very good at the end but maybe they'll grow on me once I get to have a good look at them in-game.
Those blood decals don't look very good at the end but maybe they'll grow on me once I get to have a good look at them in-game.
Yeah, those decals don't look like they have shadows cast on them. Maybe someone forgot to set a flag on a texture or something?
Exciting news, everyone! I was able to get an early copy of Rising Storm 2 and got some pictures of me playing it! I have to admit that I'm a bit disappointed, though. While the gameplay's fun, the graphics seem pretty dated. [t]http://i.imgur.com/uoetY5U.jpg[/t] [t]http://i.imgur.com/hImzlUx.jpg[/t] I hope they add multiplayer at some point!
Devs confirmed campaign won't be in at launch, but maybe in a future update. Unfortunately I can't provide a source link since the forums have been down for like a week now.
Gahhhh, lame. The campaign mode was so kickass with RS. There's so much more cooperation and dedication to win, rather than people just trying to be Simo Hayha all the damn time
