You know, I can't remember the last time a fully focused vietnam game came out. Maybe shellshock back in like 03.
I hope dice makes a bf vietnam 2 with frostbite 3.
Battlefield Vietnam in '04, Vietcong 2 in '05. Not really common, seems they mostly died out too when everyone moved away from WW2 games. There was a sequel to Shellshock in 2009. Most of the latest ones seems to have been in '04 or '05 though. So I welcome this game.
Here's a list of of a few of them: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Vietnam_War_video_games
It's also interesting to note:
Hopefully these actually will come into fruition compared to the spiderholes we were suppose to see in Rising Storm.

Vietcong: Fist Alpha was the best Vietnam game in my eyes. It also had the most badass soundtrack possible:

They did show one, but it was only a static prop.
Either way, if they don't make it drivable, I will!

The fact that the NVA gets RPGs, I realllly doubt they're meant for knocking down helicopters. Helicopters are speedy mofos

They should add in the M113 w/ Saladin turret and give the NVA the PT-76.

I wish there was a place to find all of the radio songs in the original in HQ. I really want to find an HQ version of this song:
Good thing is pretty much my whole playlist is nothing but songs from that era.

I would count Bad Company 2 Vietnam as something like that, it was a decently sized for an expansion. And it's arguably still the best multiplayer Vietnam shooter.

I agree on the best nam shooter part, but it was still only an expansion and had half the content of vanilla bc2. The production value was tits, though. I still have the soundtrack on my computer because of how great it is.
If we do get ground vehicles I hope this is one of them:

I would also be fine with a Sheridan.

I don't think those were used in Vietnam or even by the U.S in general.

I'm sure everyone saw it coming, but this screenshot confirms the M14 will be in the game, not just the XM21
Speaking of screenshots:

It seems that human heads are still a weakness for AMG's art team. At least they look somewhat better than some of the RS1 monstrosities.

there's clearly a sense of pain and suffering behind his eyes. that man has seen some shit, and is fighting for his homeland.
don't you dare criticize the modelers.

I think a standard M14 was also featured in the "boots on the ground" trailer

Hot off the presses!
Manufactured at the Tula arsenal in 1937 this 1891/30 found its way to Vietnam by way of a Soviet supply crate. A significant number of old Soviet surplus supplies, plus weapons captured during WW2, were sent to The People's Republic of Vietnam (PAVN) and to the Nation Liberation Front (NLF or “VC”).
The Mosin Nagant is the most mass produced and plentiful rifle of all time. Over 100 million rifles were made from 1881 to 1965 by many manufacturers from several different countries.

Fun fact - Remington and New England Westinghouse were two US companies that produced some of the first Mosin Nagant rifles. Pre-WW1 Russia had manufacturing contracts with both of these companies but could not completely fulfill payment for all of the rifles produced. This was devastating to Remington and almost put them out of business. The US government bought the remaining, unpaid-for Mosins and sent those rifles with the soldiers & engineers who participated in the Allied intervention of the Russian Civil War, Operation Archangel in 1918.
In game, the 91/30 is used by the NLF and the 91/30 PU is used by both the NLF and the PAVN. Both versions of the rifle include an attachable "pig-sticker" bayonet - making it the longest rifle in the game, by far.

I'm thinking of a mod that'll let you choose between the Mosin, Type 38 and Kar 98 rifles since those were all used at various points in the war.

Didn't pretty much any and all weapons of the second world war find their way into VietCong hands?

Might as well let them use M60s, MG-42s, MG-34s, RPKs, RPDs, the list goes on.
The VC didn't give a hot fuck. There's certain groups that used goddamn muzzle-loaders iirc

Some US forces used BARs in Vietnam.
Some US forces used BARs in Vietnam.
you're making it sound like it was out of necessity - but it actually was a conscious decision made by US troops.
I think the BAR saw most action when the M16 was first deployed - as it was an infinitely more reliable option. The VC would focus on stealing BARs because of how good the weapon was in the jungle environments, actually!
I forgot that the M14 was in that trailer, sorry

Anyways, Heroes of the West is getting an update with vehicles
What? Where the hell did that come from? Who made those models?
There's been literally no posts in the HOTW thread for over a month, why is this suddenly a thing, wtf.
EDIT: Those don't even look that good. It's certainly not Twreck's work. Lallup maybe? I doubt it.
Now I'm genuinely curious as to where they came from.

They have plenty of modelers helping them out. I remember getting my hands on some vehicles, as well
