it's called realism
or an attempt at it
Over the last few months I've really gotten back into RO2. I think it's partly due to a particular server I play on that always has some players who communication using voice. Literally bumped my hours from around 50-ish to almost 200 now. Which is nice leap as I work full time and only play a few hours when I get home and on the weekends.
I don't bother playing on other servers cause of it. I usually just sit on the favourites tab and spam refresh until there is a slot open.
Has anyone got recommendations on English speaking servers that have a lot of voice communication going on with the players? I currently play on the 40-1 UK #1 "WHERE EAGLES DARE" server.
so is that vietnam game/expansion/dlc/whatever going to come out any time this decade?

release date is 2065
They want to release it on the 100 year anniversary of the start of the vietnam war
Hmmm, there's a lot of bots stuck in one spot.

Whoops.
what are you running ro2 on?
I'm finding it rather silly that your character opts to shout at the top of his lungs when hiding behind enemy lines.
Seriously, the amount of times my character has shouted in their mother tongue about how something hurts or how he hates whoever whilst there are multiple enemies in the other room is both funny and annoying.
ARGH
FRIENDLY FIRE LIMIT EXCEEDED
IF YOU'D STOP STAYING BEHIND ENEMY LINES, MAYBE I'D STOP HITTING YOU FROM A DISTANCE WITH MG FIRE
this just happened again
all that progress lost
Getting behind enemy lines is one of the most effective ways to fight the enemy though
it is but don't expect me to apologise when i mistake you for the enemy team when you're running about in the shadows with the enemy team
Then good luck with that -3 kill :)))

i expect you to have better eyesight and realize what the hell is going on when you see a guy shooting at people and he's on your team
I still don't understand how easily people can TK.
Especially on Eastern Front maps.
The Soviet and German uniforms look so fucking different that I can't remember the last time I teamkilled (not including grenades and retards running infront of my MG while firing)
The only exception is maybe the Soviet hero skin, since the colouring of the telogreika at long range is dark
Even if the colors are hard to distinguish the general shape of things should be a bit of a giveaway, those stahlhelms are pretty distinctive

I've had people shoot me all while there was no enemy in sight or i was surrounded by our team. I've had people shoot me whilst i was shooting at the enemy, away from our team. Like on Rakowice, we were attacking the last objective. I was shooting inside the building with an mp40 trough the window from our side, surrounded by teammates and had a fucking idiot shoot me from behind. I've had snipers kill me from 70 meters. But the absolute fucking worst is when you look at your teammate from less than 10 meters, he looks back at you for two seconds, and only then he shoots you.

Wishful thinking. It makes me wonder why they even bother with it. It's like on the level of Black Mesa development wise, except probably worse. I know that they are doing it for free and it's a mod, they are not talented etc... but then don't take on such an ambitious project. Especially since RO2 isn't the easiest game out there to mod. I mean RO3 is going to be out by the time an alpha or something comes out.

That's probably where it happens the most. Tried the german side? I only play there and there is always someone talking and coordinating.

The worst part is, from what I've seen they're all legit, professional game developers. Not AAA or anything, but still.
Also, it's not even a mod anymore, they're turning it into their own completely new game.
Which just solidifies the fact that it'll sit in limbo forever, teasing people with screenshots only to never be released. Much like every single pacific/vietnam mod for COH.

Both the German and Russian teams seem to be a good communication, even if it's small remarks such as "Tank at C" or "They're pushing the left flank" . The main issue is players who just don't listen to sound advice. Often caps are lost simply because players opt to hang back outside of the cap zone in fear of being killed. This happens a lot with Riflemen and some assault players. A lot of people on the server often say "If you're not a sniper or MG, you have no reason to be this far from the cap".
I always try to use voice whenever I play and depending on other players as well.
most people that tk are usually people under 20 honor, and since there was a sale recently i don't hold it against them on not knowing the differences between teams.
Just need to tell new players about the unique ways that Axis and Allies sprint.
Axis: Sprint with weapon in one hand
Allies: Sprint with weapon in both hands
That has stopped me TKing a good few people. Works the same in RS as well.
This game really makes me feel useless. Since I have really long loading times for what ever reasons I always end up in Rifleman slot. Then the gameplay is just spawn, walk a bit, die and repeat. Useless in close range and just burning tickets. That makes me feel terrible and think I am not part of the team.
Never had that in any other game before and I have no idea what I am doing wrong.

The duty of the rifleman is to charge the front line and reveal enemy positions. By that i mean get shot so your teammates can see where the tracers are coming from. GLHF

Well decent Squad Leaders will stop you having to spawn far back and usually will allow you to spawn either at the front line or just behind it. I understand your frustration. So many rage-quits have happened because I have just gotten sick of the spawn-die-respawn-repeat cycle.
I was usually fairly rubbish at playing a rifleman because I am terrible at using bolt-action rifles. But eventually got better and now it's alright. Sometimes I can get really good streaks with a bolt-action.
Manual bolting is awesome though, it usually lets you shoot faster then auto bolt
no but at squint distance (bear in mind focus was disabled on this server) it is very difficult to distinguish between players especially if they're running about in a darkened building, might I stress behind enemy lines, with no prior communication at all
this was on commissar's house, I laid up against the broken wall outside of Charlie facing Alfa with my MG42 shooting into the Shed(?) to the side of Alfa, take down a team member who was behind enemy occupied Alfa (therefore behind enemy lines), so I apologise and ask him to be careful because I'm basically taking potshots at muzzle flashes at this point, so 2 minutes later after I took out a few of the enemy team, I land a hit on one more player and boom I'm kicked
tl;dr SITUATIONAL TEAM KILLING BECAUSE OF POOR COMMUNICATION DUE TO NO FAULT OF MY OWN and yes I know about the difference in weapon handling between soviet and axis sides jesus christ
Manual bolting is awesome though, it usually lets you shoot faster then auto bolt
Manual Bolting also allows you to top off the mag without wasting a cartridge if you reload instead of working the bolt to chamber another.
Most of my TKs are either from grenades or shooting someone coming around the corner.

I agree with you there, if you are behind enemy lines you should tell your team that you are there, so they will at least be a little bit careful.
manual bolting should just be the default option
i barely even bolt anymore, i just top off the internal magazine unless i need to lay down quick shots
someoen else suffers from this bug in Tula? When you drop and aim your machinegun in the railway overlooking the last point you clip into the floor and you cant move at all.
And no, is not under the train wagons, even when nothing over you you still get stuck

I've tried manual bolting and i always forgot to press R which caused me a lot of deaths so i just gave up. Which is funny because i always quickly zoom out when i kill somebody.

Just double click whenever you are using a rifle.
