My problem with Cu Chi is hard to put into words. It looks like and plays like a map where random assets were thrown down on the map. It's like it never left the prototype stage and is still waiting on an art pass.
Every other map looks great though.
It's based of a series of battles in the Chu chi province, so each segment is a historical battle. Pretty cool, but plays like the worst shit due to it being a simple slog smoke and arty fest.
I tried forcing Nvidia's AA settings onto RO2 but no success, but their FXAA is hell lot of better. It won't fix all blurriness and jagged lines but it sure does improve it.
FXAA medium is the best setting without a doubt
I've noticed over my last couple days of playing that my burst-length with weapons is oddly specific. I keep everything on semi-auto so it has little to do with firerate, but I always shoot three shots with the AK, four shots with the M16, two shots with the M14, six shots with the M60 and RPD and four shots with the DP28 (which by the way is the best weapon in the game 10/10).
How?
Points D and E are where american dreams go to die, and that's using a gun that can shoot past 15m.
That was at the start, flanked the police station from the gas station, toasted about 7 VC in the back, ran in, about 5 VC first floor, six on the second, then a few snipers on the roof.

Also why Squad Leaders are sadistic.
Anyone else gone full Ducktales when you get hit by the Zuni rockets?
why does no one like the cover system?
in general cover systems are poorly designed from both a gameplay and realism perspective
gameplay wise being able to physically move behind cover in a variety of positions and distances is always more versatile and easier than a clunky "attach to" mechanism that almost never actually puts you in a position you want, and worse, commits you to a position.
Realism wise, hollywood style "hugging" to objects is dangerous. If something penetrates the barricade its next stop is through your body, as opposed to another half meter or meter of flight where it would lose a tremendous amount of energy and may be the difference between a fatal wound and a minor wound. Theres also richochets and shrapnel tunneling to consider....
theres almost no advantage to having a cover "system" honestly. Its a solution to a problem that didn't exist except in the minds of people who thought it would look cool to have hollywood style whack-a-mole shootouts
if games like these need anything, its the fluid posture adjustment system seen in titles like raven shield or arma 3 that allows for more practical options and use of cover beyond the almost standard fps combination of prone/crouch/stand/leanleft/leanright

I read some dude on another forum saying this, how's it even possible. A good balance between blur and pixel sharpness?
Anyone else gone full Ducktales when you get hit by the Zuni rockets?
What is that even supposed to mean?
I read some dude on another forum saying this, how's it even possible. A good balance between blur and pixel sharpness?
Basically, low is too jagged and high is too blurry
I sure would love if the SL's in squads I joined actually communicated and did their job.
What is that even supposed to mean?
Getting launched across the map or even out of it. Got hit by 1 rocket and I was thrown into the skybox

That seems to happen to people that I shoot with the M3, although it's never that drastic, they usually just leap 3m up into the air and fall back down.
yell at them to use the smokes then
opening your mouth is the fix to these kinds of situations 9/10 times
A bit late, but I've found it to be surprisingly effective as Pointman to just hurl my smokes the first chance I get. The sight of smoke seems to encourage people to charge, so even if I just throw my smokes directly forwards, I'm still being useful. It's not like there's any point being stingy - I'll most likely be dead in 5 seconds, and respawned in another 5, fresh with two more smokes to throw. And if my SL survives, my last two smokes will probably still be up by the time I get back, so I can just charge through and throw out two more, and keep the chain going.
I just learned that South Korea actually played a fairly large role in the war, they contributed the second most combat troops of any nation, behind the United States. Learning that, I'm kind of bummed that South Korea isn't planned, seems they get no recognition since I've not even heard of this until now. Even the wikipedia page on it is just one sentence about casualty numbers, compared to the Australian page. I really want South Koreans now, I'm looking into it more and they seem to be bonafide badasses.
Thailand gave a lot of too, but they also get no mention.
Honestly, the ones I'm the saddest about not getting representation are, you know, the fuckin' south Vietnamese themselves. It's real weird to me that they're not in the game. Not to mention all the cool shit you could bring into the game with them, and for basically no effort from the devs. Port in Thompsons and M1 Carbines from RS1, give them some sort of snubnosed revolver as secondary for authentic warcrime recreation, and they'd be golden. Maybe M1919 too, not sure how widely that was used by the ARVN.

I had a hilarious moment (to me at least) on hue city where I was running to place a tunnel in this area for my squad, when a guy who is solo in his squad dropped down infront of me and was placing the tunnel there. So I pulled out the mattock and I thought to myself "I wonder if this has friendly fire" and swung it at him while he was building his tunnel and it killed him instantly and his body went flying.
I just broke down laughing and started placing my tunnel and right as soon as I finished he came up and shot me in the heart and yelled at me for tking him and I just kept laughing my ass off.
I was his only kill that entire round too I believe
Pain is trying to throw a grenade into deep enemy positions but it hits a fucking window hitbox

DP28 is the closest thing to a BAR or STG imo, that thing is a beast at all ranges.
I learned to not use grenades in alleyways the hard way by blowing up my squad leader
I learned that backblast acts like flames and collides with the world, allowing it to reflect. Was at the end of Hue sewers(where the stairs go to C) and fired down the tunnel to kill a squad of GI. I had 2 squadmates directly infront of me get instagibbed but I got 5 GI with that shot so fuckit I'll take the +30s.
I've gotten 2 teamkills in a row as VC squad leader when digging a tunnel because people run into me
I dont know how people can fucking handle playing commander ever
like, every time you call in an airstrike you get ten goddamn teamkills because nobody listens when you tell them to move, and thats if you're lucky enough for SLs to be willing to mark shit for you
I have witnessed a bloodbath just now :wow:
