Kind wished it was just a clientside mod. Those sounds/weapon skins look mighty fine and it's a shame I can't use them on other servers.
Speaking of Heroes of the West [t]http://i.imgur.com/N3bQbul.png[/t] my STG44 conversion is being finalized
They also replaced most of the quotes of them referring to the Japanese with fitting ones, they being Tripwire themselves.
There's a bunch of other stuff in his other videos - bullet crack sounds, headshot effects (helmet comes off + squishy giblet particles), bayonets can be attached/detached, the prolonged death screams and flailing ragdolls are re-enabled, and dying involves a slow fade to back and sound slowly fades out. It's lots of little things.
Are there any populated servers that run it yet? I tried to play it months ago, but I could never find a game with more than 4 people
I love how Heroes can just shrug off bullets. Seriously, I got hit with a small MP40 burst, didn't even bleed. Also, if you start slowly bleeding, you can safely ignore it and it'll just go away. On the other hand, often times it'll tell you you're bleeding after you're already dead. Hamsteronfire was right, this game is a buggy piece of shit.

Hamsteronfire was right, this game is a buggy piece of shit.
Technically it's not wrong. You are, in fact, bleeding. Because much of the game was built by some inept mongoloid it doesn't take into account whether or not you're actually alive when deciding if it should display that.
I was hoping tripwire would eventually build this game into something great like they did RO1, but it's just not happening. I mean it's not a bad game but there's so much untapped potential.
Too bad the panzerfaust was produced in 1943, it would be miles ahead of that anemic trash heap called a ptrs
You know, I tried mapping for the Western Front but when I couldn't add more textures without my map turning candy colored I gave up. I wish you could drive the trucks though.
I wish you could drive the trucks though.
Fun fact: the code for drivable cars/trucks is all there, it's just not implemented anywhere.
Fun fact: the code for drivable cars/trucks is all there, it's just not implemented anywhere.
I must restore it now, then do a video on that. How would I go about doing that? Since you're the guy who's made freaking Japanese tanks driveable?
Fun fact: the code for drivable cars/trucks is all there, it's just not implemented anywhere.
Tripwire wins again.
Since you're the guy who's made freaking Japanese tanks driveable?
It was already drivable to begin with. All I did was just plop it onto a map. For trucks you'd need to actually do some work. The code itself is simple enough but I have no clue how to actually get it in the game. Plus you have to set up the model.

Nope. I checked, there are literally no tutorials whatsoever on how to mod RO2. All the code is in "...\steamapps\common\Red Orchestra 2\Development\Src\", but I don't even know how to compile it.
I don't have a development folder. Do you have the SDK downloaded?
Yeah, I do. You'll need that.
It would be really cool to be able to have large open maps for the Heroes of the West mod because I made working trucks, don't you think? What folder is the truck's source code in? The name?
It would. It would also be neat to have for existing Red Orchestra and Rising Storm maps too. The file is "...\Src\ROGame\ClassesROVehicleSimCar.uc". Good luck. If you manage to get it working it's best to make a thread here as well. That's probably the best place for RO2/RS specific stuff.
Am I the only one waiting for a mod for another front? Totally. There was a lot of potential here, but all people are interested in is just more boring old american stuff. Speaking of Americans, why is that in every single RS game I play, nobody ever chooses axis? I enter a server with only a few people, all allies. People join the server I'm in, instantly allies. It's incredibly irritating when trying to have fun against bots (and getting XP at the same time) when some random human joins allies and immediately shits all over everything. Every single game.
This sire is interesting I'll try passing it on to those who could be interested in this later today
Fun fact: the code for drivable cars/trucks is all there, it's just not implemented anywhere.
ahahah seriously fuck tripwire the lazy hacks [editline]5th March 2015[/editline]
I was hoping tripwire would eventually build this game into something great like they did RO1, but it's just not happening. It was nearly unplayable at the time of the beta/release. Of course instead of delaying it they released it half broken and took 3+ years to get it somewhere near scratch. Even then, the fact that there is unused code for trucks kinda encapsulates how tripwire dropped the ball with it. I miss RO1 :(

Damn, if I were rich as fuck I'd finance a fuckton of games like this (and also Shenmue 3)

Just makes playing axis with bolt actions even more satisfying.
I'm so tired of cheesy communist party war movies on my TV channel

Both in Rising Storm and Heroes of Stalingrad.
