This happens with about one in five of my a tunnels, I just stop building because it means it's going to run through the animation and then cancel it at the very end, which about half my tunnels do.

He was level 3, it was only 3 minutes into the round on Song Be, and he had 20 kills, so there was something really off about him. I spectated him to get what he was seeing in first person.
He was literally just shooting at one of the bamboo buildings on point E, killing the americans in their own base at G through the building. :glare:
Everybody else on the server roughly had like zero kills or only 1 kill.
Stupid question but how do I become effectively good at the game? All I'm really good at is camping in foliage ahead of objectives and carefully killing people who run past me :v:
Well that's one way of being good, there's also making sure that you work with your team, or at least gel with what's going on with your team.
When you see that one person has a door covered in their LOS, trust that they actually have it covered and cover a different doorway or window.
If you are playing as scout/pointman, use your smoke grenades to conceal your team's movement!
If you are a grunt/guerilla, make sure you use your nades, but check your map for friendlies in the area you want to grenade!
Never pick fights you know you can't win. Noticed 5 GI pass you? They didn't notice you? Wait until it's clear that there are no more coming and ambush them. If they notice you and start to return fire, run away.
Stupid question but how do I become effectively good at the game? All I'm really good at is camping in foliage ahead of objectives and carefully killing people who run past me :v:
Step 1: Get on the objectives, they're more important than kills. If you're VC, place traps whenever you can.
Step 2: If you have smoke grenades, throw smoke grenades.
Step 3: Figure out the path you want to run before you leave cover, and plan to stop running before you're in a spot where you need to shoot. Moving and shooting is the last choice unless you're just suppressing.
Step 4: Either give up squad leader if picked, or plan to play as SL above your specific role. Soldiers win fights, squad leaders win battles. If you're American, live at all costs, and advance cautiously. Picking a class with smoke grenades is also a big plus. If you're VC, dig a good tunnel, replace it when it blows up, and then you're free to goof around.
Step 5: If someone shoots at you, and neither of you die, you probably want to change position before a grenade flies in or they get a better angle.
Step 6: Learn the maps. Your current strategy is just fine, but you should be able to find good spots that are on the objective at the same time, or multiple spots you can take as you lose ground.
Step 6: Learn the maps.
In my opinion this is the #1 most important thing. All gameplay stems from it.
Before you're familiar with the map it's very easy to have no idea where you're getting shot from. Then once you know the map like the back of your hand you can easily tell where the enemy is, and then take an alternate route to sneak up behind them.
I've gotten may kills that way where I've engaged an enemy, and then fell back and circled around them while they pushed forward into my original location.
It's also very helpful in buildings to know where all the common camping spots are, so you can get that tiny upper hand in the resulting shitty twitchfest.
Same deal with traps. Once you know all the entrances to an objective you can keep a sharp eye on the ground in those areas, or vice versa absolutely litter them up.
got my first mvp : )

What's the diff between highest score and mvp? I've gotten one without getting the other before.

learn to use and love diving to prone, and when traversing with little cover, use rapid, erratic movement punctuated by diving to the ground every 5 meters or so (preferably into some kind of terrain feature that at least gives concealment, but if not you will be surprised how often simply diving to the ground saves you life, as opposed to what most players try to do which is keep running when they are being shot at which almost never works due to how easy following a moving target in this game is)
Don't get tunnel vision, most objectives and areas were people love to camp are easily flanked - chu chi for example, 99% of players will move completely linearly but the actual map allows for very wide flanking maneuvers, and flanking works because it gives you seconds to minutes of unobserved movement and shooting opportunities against unaware opponents.
Big rule of this game - when in doubt, shoot. Always shoot. The aiming model in RS2 is incredibly forgiving and its rather easy to hit people even when they look like a tiny pixel on your screen. Also most of the materials will be penetrated by bullets, so again, just shoot even when you dont have a "clear" shot. Chances are 8/10 you will kill whatever you are shooting at.
Semi-auto is very useful, even with the low recoil weapons like the M16. Get good at firing rapidly with semi auto, but especially so with weapons like the AK.

Headless chicken strats work for me, i just keep going forward until i can't any more and then find a spot to shoot them all in the back
