I feel like the community is really hostile most of the time, people absolutely bashing each other for teamkills or being overly negative pricks when somebody doesn't perform as well as a commander or squadleader. I saw some pretty rude stuff most of the time, I don't feel much offended but I noticed it quite a bit. Wish the community was more cheerful.
The in-game community is cancer, yes, but the community as a whole, like on forums and such, all agree that people like that are a plague, so it's more like a small percentage that's like this.
There I was, Hill 937, top score. Protecting our rice fields with my trustworthy SKS. Killed yankies all over the place, and suddenly, a half-naked man appeared. Was he a friendly? Or was he an enemy? I don't know. As he stood there with his bare chest and american looking farm hat, we aimed at each other, for at least 7 seconds. Who shoots first? Should we take the risk to either kill ourselves or die by an unknown enemy? I made the hard choice and squeezed the trigger. A childish scream was heard, and it was my friend. But no more, as I left with shame. Our rice fields are covered in brotherly blood.
I have played on a server in the last few days that don't have any 'teammate' indicators apart from the map. Predictably, the amount of teamkills went through the roof for the entire server. Especially on Hue, my fucking God, I've never felt such shame playing Grenadier as on that occasion. On the receiving end, it's just as frustrating as talking to a teammate to not shoot me, only for him to lose his marbles and still shoot me full of holes. On the other hand, the complete lack of teammate indicators made it way easier to lure people in an ambush. And given how the killfeed had a half-minute delay too, it made far-range combat also more tense given that you pretty much had to confirm having scored a kill yourself.

one of those cinematic moments [vid]https://my.mixtape.moe/rlqkes.webm[/vid]
I just got RS2 and I got to say so far it's amazing. Really immersive. Feels like you're really in the shit sometimes.

There really needs to be a particle effect associated with limb loss. Taking off someone's head with a shotgun just makes the default head shot particle. It's like popping a balloon.
Went back to the previous games and honestly had more fun. Not saying I don't like Vietnam, hell I already got rank 70. But the other games felt more intense and PTSD, and that's what got me into the series.

It's very engaging and I do love the setting. But I agree the previous games feel a bit more grim and more depressing which is mostly tied to the drab landscapes and very authentic and brutal voice acting. When I play as an GI and hear that rock music while blasting around in the helicopter or storming a hill is very enjoyable and always makes me smile. But overall it feels a bit more light hearted mostly due to the voice acting and music. I always turned that off in RO but the GI rock music is so damn groovy.
So that was you on that server! I asked if you were from FP, but you didn't respond.
I must have not seen it :v:
At least in RS2 people don't need to occupy a command role if they want their full auto gun
The things RS2 is missing badly from the previous games are the melee that actually works, and the ability to scream on command with shift + mmb. Also the voice acting is trash in comparison.
I got stabbed by a bayonet when a VC charged into the hut I was holed up in. Got me right in the gut. Startled the shit out of me.
dying to a bayonet is honestly freak accident tier - I've found the standard buttstock to work much better If you charge a melee attack by sprinting it generally tends to be an instakill too
Honestly what I hate is when there isn't a commander for half the match and then you decide to become the commander and then everyone starts bitching about how the commander sucks.
Honestly what I hate is when there isn't a commander for half the match and then you decide to become the commander and then everyone starts bitching about how the commander sucks.
I hate commanders and squadleaders that cannot shut the fuck up and are way to active on the voice channel. Sure, it's nice to communicate but some people basically have their mics on all the time. Also yesterday I had this french fuck with a horrible accent that told everybody how to play the game and basically insulted his entire team.
I hate Commanders that sit there and insult the team the whole match.
The weirdest commanders are the ones that are silent and never talk, but appear to have psychic abilities and call in perfectly timed artillery/spawns etc

I'm looking towards making some custom maps based in North Vietnam, is that distasteful based on how most of the major battles took place elsewhere? I'm thinking about a place in the Ninh Binh province but all I know is that the only two major conflicts found in the North were air raids in Hanoi and a mining camp assault. Could one make a map that is based on a small invasion that could have taken place leading up to those two major battles in North Vietnam? North Vietnam, South Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, China, Thailand, whatever. Nobody said all maps have to be 100% realistic, just do what you want and don't worry about it.
I mean if they ever implement the campaign mode again they'll have to give us northern maps
They'll prolly give us campaign. RS1 didn't launch with it and had it added later.
just a clean kill [vid]https://my.mixtape.moe/wkkjzo.webm[/vid]
Nothing like taking down a chopper by firing a full magazine of an RPK into the cockpit, I downed one Huey and Little Bird who hovered dangerously close to the ground.
I really like playing marksman in this game, but I rarely get to play them as people always lock onto them asap
Buy an SSD.
What SSD would you recommend for "reasonable" amounts of storage for modern gaming machines (500GB to 1TB)? I'd like to have my games load FAST. This is coming from a guy with 470GB of space taken up for two of three steam game folders.
