Now pointman just needs grenades. Like claymores are fun and all, but literally only useful when the US is on defense, which is almost never.
Then pointman would just be a better rifleman Imo they should change claymore so that you get either 2 remote detonated or 1 tripwire
I've used claymores effectively once. As attackers I ran up to a low wall right in front of the point, placed them on top, ducked back down and fired them off. Got a triple kill. In most cases it's not worth the effort of putting them down then watching that avenue instead of just shooting them with your gun, and it's a bit of a weird gadget for a class based on moving forward of the main element.
If they added a tripwire for the claymores it might actually make them somewhat useful, but like you said, running them off a clacker and waiting to set them off is rubbish when you could just shoot them.
Part of the problem is Claymores aren't being deployed realistically, and the way they're actually used has little place in most shooters. You either set them up in an area that an enemy patrol is expected to pass through, and use them as an ambush opener. Or you set them up in a line around your perimeter as part of a defense system, so if enemies try to break through you detonate them to decimate the attackers. Problem with those is no shooter has that type of ambush elements, or base defense elements. Another obvious issue for this game is if the Pointman dies, his mines disappear, so even if they are being used as a defense, you can't have just anybody trigger the devices.

RS2 certainly doesn't, especially for the US side.
Claymores on Point C of An Lao Valley can be pretty devastating in my experience. If you place them along the Northern trench line or just in front of it, you can cover almost the entirety of the hill near the entrances to the point. After you get them placed the trick is to avoid the front line, and blow them by reading the map or by judging how the firefight sounds. C also has an ammo bunker, so whether you hit or miss you can get another line of mines out without too much work.
I wouldn't say "no" shooter has these elements. No matter how good your simulator, you'll never achieve the feel of a real world setting. Players will always know that if they're in the game, then they're about to fight. You'll never have a moment where one team is walking down the road and the other is laying in wait, because both teams will know combat is imminent and act as such.

Capture The Island gamemodes specifically.
Good God, I'm almost done with the cinematic video, and I got to say it sucks ass. 400 GB of video material and 90% is just bad camera angles. Why am I even doing this
I hope we'll get the South Korean Armed Forces in the game at some point, they contributed more forces to the war than Australia did
I know, it's bullshit. Adding the Australians before the ARVN or ROK is like adding the Romanians before the Germans in a WW2 game. Literally the only reason why they rushed to get them in first is because one of the producers is Australian. As much as I'd love to see the ROKMC implemented officially, they're probably not going to. Hell we'll be lucky if they even bother with the ARVN. I was planning to add both of those factions myself for the contest, but then all the voice actors quit so it went nowhere.
I would have liked to see Thailand myself.
I wish we could get another Pro-Hanoi force. It's a shame there really isn't much to work with in that aspect though, unless you want to rebuild a road as a Chinese engineer. Me, I'm actually excited for the updated RO2/RS as I've been itching to have another go at the title for a while now. I hope we get some additional content as well. Stupid as it may sound, I really want some WW2 virtual dress up.
I want larger maps :v:
yo I made a mod with some people [t]https://steamuserimages-a.akamaihd.net/ugc/853856090824391238/26B3C761F0082E9DF6402226FED302253A0D53F7/[/t] check it out
Cool game. Reminds me of Home Wars by another Italian guy on Steam.
Cool game. Reminds me of Home Wars by another Italian guy on Steam.
that was one of our many sources of inspiration
Is there anything special we need to do once we've installed it?
pray that it works (sometimes certain models refuse to load for whatever reason) and run one of the two maps. Right now there's a community server hosted over at 176.31.102.200:7777, you can join it manually by pressing F3, typing 'open' and just dropping the IP there There's a bunch of bugs but due to organization issues & the workshop being the workshop it's taking far more than I'd like to patch them out. Either way just post shit over here tyvm <3

Enjoying the Australian forces. Highlights of my games have been hearing the Aussie bayonet charge approach over proximity chat and a round where me and my squad all fell through a small hole and went around capturing objectives from beneath the map [t]https://steamuserimages-a.akamaihd.net/ugc/865116363346366075/92D9BE3F78A18755803E8B8210B6DC5E6C0B0FDC/?interpolation=lanczos-none&output-format=jpeg&output-quality=95&fit=inside%7C1024%3A576&composite-to=*,*%7C1024%3A576&background-color=black[/t]
the what?
Rumor has it that RO2 is being ported forward into the updated RS2 engine

Everyone loves Australians The south vietnamese army're basically the badguys to the vietnamese, and nobody really cares for them. You're forgetting most people in the west think "Vietnam" as a war before a country. And I didn't even fucking know about koreans so... Hey, maybe it'd be a good idea if you were going to market towards that huge korean market.
Rumor has it that RO2 is being ported forward into the updated RS2 engine
It's not even a rumor, it was confirmed officially in an news update.

The L1A1 is an awesome gun and shit and maybe they just wanted to include it along with other Australian used weapons? It's sort of like complaining about a game where you play as the British in WW2.
It's sort of like complaining about a game where you play as the British in WW2.
Insert butthurt about how the brits fought way more than the Americans and still lost out to them in who got the expansion. Thanks, Hollywood. Then again, I think asymmetrical war would've been taken a bit too far were they to add the Italians.
It's not even a rumor, it was confirmed officially in an news update.
Yeah, that. Still, I can't help but wonder how they're going to deal with weapon unlocks. Obviously heroic skins can be easily adapted to fit into the leveled customization system, and bayonets can simply be added as an attachable. As for the weapon uprgrades, I really can't say. If they simply make it a toggleable option everybody is just going to thread a suppressor onto their Nagant, or slap a scope onto their Mkb 42H, which would be ridiculous. I really hope they figure something out as it'd be stupid simply to remove the upgrades, and ridiculous to make them freely available, as some were quite a rarity.
some were quite a rarity.
They've already proven they don't give two shits about that. The AVT, MKB, Japanese Scoped LMGs, and the upcoming CAR-15 were all super rare or only used in specific times/areas, and yet in this series they're freely available to anyone at any time. Although, who knows. The RO2 port is being done not by AMG or Tripwire, but by Kernow Interactive: a collection of modders from HOTW being led by a former member of AMG.
