It's not even a rumor, it was confirmed officially in an news update.
Can you please give a link? I can't find anything about it.
Rumor has it that RO2 is being ported forward into the updated RS2 engine
So what does this mean for RO2?
So what does this mean for RO2?
Ro2 has already been sunset in regards to update. The fact that they are planning to probably mix RS2 and RO2 mechanic means that RO2 isn't quite ready to become irrelevant like L4D1 did, yes
My sources are a couple scattered reddit posts from Tripwire developers

I have to clarify, what sort of updates can we expect from RO2 if it gets updated to the newest engine?
Better performance? Some visual overhauls? Bigger maps?

I don't think RO2 itself is being updated? The announcement spoke of bringing RO2 stuff into RS2:V
So maybe a couple graphical updates here and there, and RO2 taking advantage of the new RS2 stuff I'm guessing
ANZAC update might be released *November 28th*

It'll probably be 90% autistic screeching.
Did someone manage to download it already? I've been playing for the past couple hours but no signs yet. Maybe it'll get rolled out later for Yurope cuz timezones or something.

We TF3: Vietnam boys
JFC some of those "aussie" voices are fucking annoying.
The dumbest thing about this update is that they removed one handed first person sprinting animations for VC. Now everyone runs with weapons in two hands (except in third person) which I have no doubt will cause more confusion for new players.
Kind of a silly thing to be upset about but the reasoning behind this change is even sillier.
Is it just me or do L1A1s, M14s, and SKSes sound the same in third person?
still cant run 64 player servers without horrendous lag, great

Wow, that sucks, especially since my eyes can't differentiate between NVA and US peeps well to begin with. This is just gonna lead to more TKs.
Yea the new anims suck. Add that to all the aus running around in boonie hats and youve got a recipe for +45s spawn timers.
Welp, first few rounds went much the same way my entire playing of RS1 did; see bugger all, get shot by it. Did get a nice accidental hipfire kill with the M72, sprayed a helicopter with the RPD and got a kill, and flanked a couple of flankers.
So the new XM177 can extend and retract the stock, but it has absolutely no positive impact to retract it. Not even making it shorter, it's the same distance to cover the weapon-obstruction mechanic comes up at. It literally just increases recoil, nothing else v:v:v

Also, fucking around in the firing range really shows how much they've put into the ammo management system. If you keep firing and reloading half-mags with the SKS, you'll retain the ammo but at some point you run out of clips, so your character will have to manually reload the rounds one by one. Also encountered a glitch doing that, with my guy loading 16 rounds into the rifle. Sadly, it did not give me 16 rounds to fire, so it was really just a longer reload animation for no reason.

You also reload the M14 with stripper clips between 4 and 11 shots fired, which is a lot slower than just switching magazines and since you don't have a separate stripper clip pool, you're technically taking bullets out of your full magazines to put them in clips to put in a not-full magazine. But that animation, man.

You should definitely hit the firing range and learn some of the kinks with the weapons because there's quite a bit to consider with multiple weapon variants and different preferences between classes and factions. You also need a lot of patience if you want to make it to objectives unscathed, especially now that everyone gets automatics. It's always a given that you're gonna be like a confused child first time playing any RO game, even as a series veteran. Nitronik can probably write you an essay on how hard of a time I was having when I started.
Try playing the classes that have the most obvious utility. The scout/pointman has smoke grenades so that gives you something to do without having to outshoot or rely on other people. Also I recommend turning on the option that defaults your weapons' firemode to semi-auto (if possible) because it's much more accurate as the animation doesn't do the shaking that it does on full-auto. If you think you're about to fight someone up close, either in a cap zone or inside buildings, feel free to switch to Fun

Doesn't it put you in an improved "hipfire" state when you aim down sight with a retracted stock like the other weapons?
Doesn't it put you in an improved "hipfire" state when you aim down sight with a retracted stock like the other weapons?
Nope, you still use the sights. You just get increased recoil with no decrease in simulated length of rifle. Entirely worthless to do.
I am pretty new having only played 20 hours. As a helicopter gunner how am I supposed to kill people? I can't see any players at all from up there with the speed the pilot is whizzing. Do I need to paly this game on a 4k tv when in a helicopter? :nope:
Door gunning is more for LZ security rather than fly by strafing.

Well, it makes the ironsights come in a little closer while aiming too. Puzzling, since the M16 has an alright ADS profile, doesn't take up much screen space and the rear sight is thin enough to not be a hindrance. You could argue shortening the stock gives you more recoil and a worse sight picture since now the gun is closer to your face and taking up more screen real estate.
