Played a few rounds of Jungleraid. While defending as the US at objective A, there was an NVA outside the sandbags yelling 'Fuck you GI it's my rice', as the round progressed, more people started doing it, and as lockdown started, he and the rest of the NVA started screaming banzai and charged in through the holes in the walls. Don't know if I should upload this or not, I don't like it very much. Also don't know if the song choice is terrible or it's just me listening to it day after day; thought about Fortunate Son but it's used too often. Would definitely change the theme and tempo, but I wanted to stick to a more [I]ptsd[/I] style. The map is awful taking shots on due to it's emptiness, because I wasted 600 GB and caught only a few good shots. Can you imagine how difficult it is to follow people around during all that chaos, and just hope something happens? Anyway I thought you guys could have a preview on the progress so far. What is with the bizarre damage of full-power rifles? Peeps keep surviving these sure-kill center mass shots. In one particular instance, I shot a guy three times in the chest and he lived. Meanwhile I keep getting OHKs with AKs and M16s like it's the easiest thing in the world. I heard something about overpenetration not dealing all the damage but that's just dumb. I mean, it makes sense and is logically justifiable but it's still dumb, talking as a player.

I'm not sure but I think its simply the client and the server not matching up. Like they aren't actually where they are on your screen according to the server so you lit up nothing. Its incredibly infuriating to watch someone explode in a puff of red to then be killed by them instead and they waltz off like nothing ever happened.

RPGs and m79s sometimes just dont fuckin materialize either. I wonder if its the same issue.
RPGs and M79s seem to be weird serverside things that don't fire until the server hears that you've fired. On a high ping server you can fire an rpg and then back away from where you fired and watch the shot appear a second later.
Theres also a bug where it plays the fire audio and visually fires but doesnt actually do anything. Then youre left with a visually empty RPG that isnt reloading so out of frustration you click again and wipe out an entire squad of friendlies. :v:

I only [I]just[/I] realized yesterday that the double-barrel had a fire-both-barrels option that I had accidentally switched on mid-game. There I was, running around wondering why the fuck I kept having to reload even after making only a single shot. v:v:v At least i got a whole lot of kills with the ridiculous amount of unnecessary force I was throwing down range.
Has anyone noticed strange interactions with m79 rounds since the ANZAC patch? We were attacking the final obj on Rung Sac and I fired a round into a bunker from about 5m. It didn't detonate(as it should, didn't travel 14m) and it bounced back out of the bunker and detonated when it hit the ground next to us. I loaded up the firing range and tried to recreate it by bouncing shots off the roof of the buildings on the map but the rounds just harmlessly hit the dirt.

So satisfying.

The fact that I could get it with a viable backup-weapon made me actually want to learn the damn thing, and now it's probably my favourite non-rifleman class to play. It's just so damn useful, both on the attack and defence, clearing out buildings and firing-positions. Most cheesy fun I've had with it must have been on Chu Chi though, where I ranged in on one of the Vietnamese chokepoints from ~250 meters, then stood atop the police station and just mortared it infinitely, getting a kill every third or fourth grenade or so.
The double barrel is still the best sniper rifle in the game.

Damn, just seeing that makes me really want to jump back into RO2/RS1/HotW/. I like Rising Storm 2 and all, but the feel of the combat is certainly different, as it no doubt should be considering the change in period and location. With that said, I can't help but feel that it just lacks a certain "punch" to it, but that's probably just me. Still going to wait for the update-port thing that they're doing. Seeing the older titles on the new engine, with enhanced graphics, and a few RS2 changes would be grand.
I'm sure its partly to do with the voice acting. Noone sounds as impassioned or bloodthirsty or terrified as they should be. Also, melee is wholly ineffectual, and not just because everyone has automatics. You stab people in the face and either "miss" them or have to stab several times before they die.
You need to charge up melee attacks for max damage and you also need to aim them. Bayonets help but why fix them when you can spend the time, the dude's not turning around to shoot you, to beat him over the head with a fully charged punt?

I feel like it's one of the only things that objectively got worse. I really just want to see some massed banzai charges again, it was a fun mechanic.
