Talking about hording did anyone else get the [sp]SMG in the ship? That thing basically completely replaces the pistol, since its ammo is really easy to find and you can carry a ton of it and it feels about as strong as the pistols do.[/sp]
I thought that you cannot not get it. I mean it's in mission objectives so it's kinda required to do so.
You can skip the shotgun but it shows up on the objectives

No it's not, if you don't go out of your way to get the key to the locker, you won't get the SMG out. And there's no objective there to get it, the objective at that point is just [sp]get Ethan out.[/sp] I didn't get it in my first go because I got to the end of that section before I finished exploring, but then I just reloaded a slightly earlier save and got it.
[sp]A tragic monster plotline is also a nice throwback to RE1 with Lisa Trevor's similar fate.[/sp] Does this mean Resident Evil 8 will be resembling RE2?
So would anyone suggest buying this game now or wait later? Is it fun? Looks fun, but I want your opinions on it.

Game is great. I bought it and not regret it.
Spoilers [sp]So what happened to Lucas and who is the unknown third party that he was sending several encrypted messages to?[/sp]

I imagine we'll find out in that free extra content coming soon.

Very, very good, but also very short. If you're fine with that and want a damn good survival horror experience, go and buy it.

It's not "very" short. It's not very long, yeah, but I wouldn't call it very short either.

Took me about 8 hours to complete the game, so I wouldn't say it's very short
[sp]What happens if you go straight for the password when you play as Clancy in the birthday video?[/sp]
[sp]What happens if you go straight for the password when you play as Clancy in the birthday video?[/sp]
[sp]It doesn't let you, you have to learn the password as Clancy, I guess because otherwise there's no logical way Ethan would know the password and sequence break it.[/sp]
I just died so hard my leg fell off and I could pick it up as an item, then bled out
I just died so hard my leg fell off and I could pick it up as an item, then bled out
That can happen? That's fucking amazing.
I can't get over how this is just an old RE game but in first person. Like down to even how the encounters are planned. The knife even feels exactly like what doing the dumb old swings would
It really feels like it, even dodging and avoiding monsters feels like an old RE game.
Why does Ethan not just pick up a chair leg... or a pole. The knife is so bad
Why does Ethan not just pick up a chair leg... or a pole. The knife is so bad
Probably to save inventory space. A pole or chair leg would probably take up two or three slots like the [sp]shotgun.[/sp]
The real question is why can't I just replace the [sp]shotgun[/sp] on the statue with an umbrella or two just like the ones next to the door.

Gameplay questions: [sp]Do the mold fuckers come back after death like the Bakers or do they stay dead? Also, does getting hit by them matter like in the demo or is it fine here for some reason?[/sp]
[editline]a[/editline]
I mean I'm sure I'll figure out that first one real soon but the latter I'm doing pretty well in not getting hit so that one I'd like to know
[editline]a[/editline]
I'm just going to assume it's the latter answer in each question until I get fucked in the ass

[sp]They don't come back, and there is no infection mechanic to deal with in this game. That being said, areas with molds you previously cleared out may spawn new ones in different locations when you have to revisit the area.[/sp]

honestly as much as i'd love for fixed camera angles to come back if REmake 2 plays like this i'd be down
honestly as much as i'd love for fixed camera angles to come back if REmake 2 plays like this i'd be down
I don't think tank controls are going to be coming back any time soon. Not enough of a userbase that it'd pertain to.
honestly as much as i'd love for fixed camera angles to come back if REmake 2 plays like this i'd be down
I mean, a large part of it depends on if they're falling back to pre-renders or going full 3D environments. Today's tech can totally do the 90s backgrounds with full rendering, though it might not look quite as good as REmake or 0 as a result. If it's full 3D environments then I can see an optional FPS mode to celebrate RE7, or alternatively see someone modding it in depending on if it's even comparable to previous games in the series in terms of unofficial modding capability thanks to the fans.

I never held a [sp]shotgun[/sp] before I assume it's mostly cause of the weight triggers on the statue
I never held a [sp]shotgun[/sp] before I assume it's mostly cause of the weight triggers on the statue
Honestly you could stack up some of the many bricks around the base of the statue to set the weight limit off. I think it's just a video gamey thing they don't expect people to really dig into the details of.
honestly as much as i'd love for fixed camera angles to come back if REmake 2 plays like this i'd be down
then it would be more of a re-imagining instead of a remake
I want it to just be REmake 2, keep the same structure of the original RE 2 but make it pretty and add some new gameplay/story elements (stuff like burning bodies in REmake, lisa trevor).
So I finished the game and wow. What a ride. This was a great surprise, totaly different from the god forsaken radioactive turd that was RE6.
The one thing I loved about the first person view is the doors. Remember how classic RE games had those little cutscenes at every door, showing them open slowly ? Now that you do it all by yourself in RE7, I find it really scarier. You always fear what's gonna be on the other side.
Also, about the ending :
[sp]I hated the cargo and the mine levels. Those are just tedious. Actually I didn't like how the game exclusively focuses on the Bakers then suddenly throws them out and makes Eveline your new enemy, who's pretty much your cliché, evil, magic little girl who messes with your mind and does innocent stuff sometimes because irony.
This is gonna sound retarded but if the game was only about you escaping from a cannibal Baker family who aren't infected but just psychos, I think I would've enjoyed it more. Even though it'd cut all ties with the RE lore.[/sp]
To those of you who've played RE7 at this point, can anyone tell me if this is the kind of game one should play alone, or could it be played with friends without messing up the experience?
Jesse & the squad seem to be enjoying it.
So the [sp] Cop at the beginning is the worst cop ever right?[/sp]
Honestly you could stack up some of the many bricks around the base of the statue to set the weight limit off. I think it's just a video gamey thing they don't expect people to really dig into the details of.
I usually start digging through the logic of puzzles whenever I miss a key element
like, I missed [sp]the room opposite the TV on the second floor[/sp] for quite a bit and only found through casual exploration once I'd dropped to 6 shots for my handgun thanks to [sp]clearing out all those mold monsters including the 3-As-and-a-handprint one[/sp]
once I found the [sp]broken shotgun[/sp] it made so much sense and the fact that it was a throwback puzzle clicked in my head and I felt like a dumbass.
So the [sp] Cop at the beginning is the worst cop ever right?[/sp]
He literally has a person going [sp]"THERE'S PEOPLE IN THIS HOUSE TRYING TO KILL ME I NEED HELP" and he's just like "I'm out here investigating a missing person case but you're definitely crazy lol"[/sp]
I just died so hard my leg fell off and I could pick it up as an item, then bled out
Same thing happened to me. Except I didn't bleed out. I healed and it shows the healing juice gluing your leg back on while Ethan sounds confused about it.
