Did you say upgrade the default pistol and nothing else?
I remember playing the PC port of RE4 at one point and it being really really bad. I mean quicktime events displaying the wrong buttons and things like that. I couldn't ever progress past the first boulder scene because I couldn't figure out the corresponding buttons. Does the Steam version fix these issues?
That was the fuckin garbage Ubisoft port, it seems like the Steam version is a from-scratch port done in-house.

Red9 is literally best gun in the game, default pistol isn't called Red9, I think it was called Silver Ghost.

No the default pistol is literally just called "Handgun"
Personally I think the Hnadgun is the best one when fully maxed, insane crit chance letting you 1-shot headshot most enemies.

the red9 is worth it purely for the stock, the fact that it does shotgun-tier damage is just a bonus

...I never knew this and I beat that game 10 times over.
End game spoilers:
[sp]It's been like 4 days since I beat the game and it just fucking clicked as to how the Grandmother in the wheelchair is Eveline. Holy fuck I'm slow.[/SP]

[sp]man you stab eve with the shot before the hallucinations wear off and see she's the grandma, how do you miss that[/sp]

exclusive upgrade pushes the red9 up to 6.5 damage, the unupgraded shotgun does 4.0 and the unupgraded semi-auto rifle does 7.0. it's so ridiculous
[sp]man you stab eve with the shot before the hallucinations wear off and see she's the grandma, how do you miss that[/sp]
[sp]I was confused as to how she was linked to the Grandma. Then I remember in the documents you found in the bunker talked about how they kept Eveline in captivity and her hairs were turning silver. I remember that Mia stated she was throwing up a lot of that black gunk when she wasn't given her injections. So I'm assuming she rapdily aged and began deteriorating. But it only just clicked now.[/sp]
Since I saw an opportunity to get Resident Evil 7 on PC for thirty bucks, I took it.
Now, consider that my last Resident Evil was the fourth, and I despised the fifth and the sixth with a passion.
This game, however, is blowing my fucking mind: the setting is absolute gold and the gameplay is solid as hell, with that yer olde survival horror feeling but exciting action sequences and "boss fights" too.
My current PC can also run the game on very high graphical settings, minus some, althought there are these occasional freezes I can only assume happen because the game is loading the next area.
Also, I'm finding hylarious how basically every fight is turning up for me:
1) The fight starts
2) Being genre savvy, I start to swing my knife at my enemy in order to save ammo
3) As I keep at it, the enemy starts damaging me exponentially
4) When things really get dire, I decide to mutter "Fuck it" I pull off my gun
5) I fire a single shot at the enemy
6) The enemy dies
I should really keep swinging that knife.
The knife fucking sucks unless you know exactly where to attack certain enemy types. And even then the base handgun without enhanced bullets outstrips its damage.

I only really hold onto the knife for item crates and [sp]knocking bugs and shit off doors and cabinets in a slow and methodical way as to prevent losing either health or ammo[/sp]
snip
The best part about completing this game is that I can now click all the spoiler tags in this thread.

I have this odd phobia of finding myself short on ammo in survival horrors in the very moments I'd need it the most
Early game spoilers [sp]What is Jack doing with Ethan in the dinner scene when he gets the knife out? He starts cutting Ethan's face or something but it's never explained afterwards, I think, nor does Ethan look injuried there.[/sp]
Anyway, hugely enjoyed the game, although there was some weak story in parts but it definitely felt like a whole new studio had taken over. Happy that it's being received so well. Although I vastly prefer Resident Evil like this, I will kinda miss the over-the-top but fun as hell coop Resident Evils of the past.

[sp]I think hes prying his mouth open by gutting his lips and scraping his teeth with the sharp end of the knife, not a nice feeling I bet.[/sp]
I wish we could've [sp] saved Jack. [/sp]
[sp]It's too late for them[/sp]
What do you guys think is worth more, the assault coin or the magnum? If I got the magnum I think I'd only use it against [sp]the fatties in the barn.[/sp]
So whens someone gonna start a petition for Capcom to get Platinum to develop a Wesker spin-off.

For a casual run. Both.
If you have to choose, the magnum. The assault coin's boost is marginal at best.

magnum, assault coin does jack shit
I finally got out of the house and made my way to the save point in the trailer right outside.
What were the things in the basement? They didn't seem like ouroboros, las plagas, or g-virus. How fucked up is the world in this series that there are several pathogens that turn people and animals into monsters and the main character in this series still manages to live a sort of normal life up until he goes to the Baker residence
magnum, assault coin does jack shit
I went with the assault coin anyway, got enough coins to get the magnum shortly after. It generally took one less pistol bullet to kill an enemy, so it's not completely worthless I guess.
Got unlimited ammo now though. :toot:
It weirds me out how characters actually age in real time.

It would fit with his mega edge actually
It would fit with his mega edge actually
You know you'd buy the shit out of a Wesker character action game.

They'll explain later on, keep playing.
So, is it worth it spending your Strong Chem Fluid for Neuro Rounds? Flame Rounds and Super Healing Spray seem just so much more useful.
