I think he'd make an exception for the man who singlehandedly took on a whole village cult thing to rescue her in the first place.
Knowing how literally anyone in a position of authority acts in the RE universe, Leon would be lucky if he got a pay bonus.
I just completed the tape in the ship. I'm guessing I can't go back to the house and finish looting it

I think once you start the [sp]Happy Birthday puzzle,[/sp] you're locked from the rest of the game after that point. [sp]Which is why they give you an item box after the puzzle so you can get the D-Arm to Zoe. Once you fight Jack's final form that's another point of no return since you're forced into administering the cure and heading to the ship. There's also missable coins in the ship's linear opening before a door locks behind you as you're stuck in the main section. Once Ethan is rescued, it's another point of no return from there.[/sp]
Ethan is obviously the most badass because he survives chainsaw attacks.

But Leon, Chris, and Sheva all did that too.
But Leon, Chris, and Sheva all did that too.
I remember that the chainsaw attacks would instantly take your head off in RE4. I remember my first playthrough of RE4 was the hardest because I chose to fight the huge swarm of enemies and the chainsaw sisters instead of the troll
You can get slashed a fair few times with the chainsaw in RE4 without it taking off your head.
But Leon, Chris, and Sheva all did that too.
Wait what, they did? Multiple direct hits? My memory is failing me.
Wait what, they did? Multiple direct hits? My memory is failing me.
You said attacks, not direct hits.
They were all attacked with chainsaws.

That's untrue. The chainsaw men/women in RE4 were all instant death if they hit you. In RE5 and Mercs 3D (which is underrated just throwing that out there as long as I'm mentioning it) the only time they don't instant kill you is when they're in berserk mode

I'm not willing to bet a whole lot on it, but I know they have a "slashing in the air" attack that's entirely possible to just scrape you.
I'm not entirely sure, but like, 90%.
I did some light phone googling and it's not looking good for me. Damn, my memory is failing too

they don't have pop-off limbs though

Fuck, I just beat the game for the fifth time, and I'm still missing one trophy. It's the one where you have to craft everything. I think the only thing I haven't crafted is the neuro rounds. Is it possible to do that fairly early on? I'm pretty burnt out at this point.
So I started off playing RE7 rather sarcastic, voice acting was the classic Capcom B horror film script with poor wording and just over all weird lines sometimes, almost completely predictable jump scares for the first half, and all the stupid little things like seriously needing god damn scissors to cut some tape you could have picked off for christs sake.
That was before I got to [SP]spiderwoman[/SP]
Holy fucking tit biscuits it's been awhile since a games really made me fear getting chased, [SP]then you got the damn sixth sense mummy[/SP] and it's all just so fucking sudden, bravo Capcom, you got me to fear things like I used to fear lickers in RE2 and god damn mother fucking still creepy as fucking re-generators in RE4.
I really liked the molded because of how much they reminded me of the regenerators.
The molded were great at first, but by the time [sp]you have to blast through a small horde after getting the D-Series Arm[/sp] they'd worn out their welcome for me. [sp]Then the finale just has waves of them and it suddenly feels like i'm playing a spooky Raid Mode.[/sp]
While a big change of pace, I honestly rather liked the sections from [sp]the ship[/sp] onward as well.
[sp]Sure they are more action oriented, but I found them immensely fun. Like, after everything you go through, getting to just run around with a shitload of ammo unloading it in to everything you see in the caves was a lot of fun. Just being able to take them on without fear was exhilarating. Like, I had a similar feeling at various points throughout the story such as during the prologue when you can grab the handgun and fight back against Mia while she has the chainsaw, or later when I got the shotgun finally, or when I grabbed the chainsaw in the fight again Jack. All these things were great little moments where for once you could be on the offensive, instead of just avoiding everything and hiding.
And running around the ship without all the stuff you had up to that point was a great way to go, especially since the molded can be harder to see in the darkness of the ship and you have not even a knife at first.[/sp]

i wanted to say this when i finished the game but i forgot. exactly why i loved it.

you can go [sp] back into the house after the happy birthday puzzle over is, I was playing earlier and wanted to go back to get the grenade launcher for the final jack fight on madhouse mode and it let me go through, anything after you get the serums is point of no return tho [/sp]
yo so i've been playin resident evil 7 and it's absolutely fantastic, but i'm havin some performance issues that seem a bit out of place.
my performance in the entire starting section was perfect, smooth 60 FPS with no drops at all, but as soon as i get to the next area I've been facing a lot of issues with the framerate dropping and skipping horribly when turning around or entering certain areas (the main hall and hallway outside of the dining room being the main examples). are there any settings or workarounds for issues like this anyone happens to know about? i've tried turning most settings down to low / off and it happens anyway. strikes me as being more reminiscent of a memory leak more than anything.
turn off shadow cache and restart the game

no, you can start and complete the puzzle. the point of no return is accepting the things from zoe prior to the boss. up to that you can still backtrack. the puzzle room door unlocks once it's completed

the voice acting is incredible though? like, it's top notch. and it's well written too and feels very realistic given the circumstances.
Ethan is the best because of he was in a fucking [sp]chainsaw duel. [/sp] Can't get much cooler than that.
I was watching a YouTube playthough of RE7 after finishing my own playthough and noticed something. Did anyone else not find the pistol until they had finished 90% of the ship segment? I had no idea you could get it so early because there was the crawling rot monster guarding it.

I'm only 3 hours in, but I've lived in the south for quite awhile and it just sounds like they're trying too hard to be suutheraan.
That and the dialogue between you and waifu is way off.
"Well thats fucking special" part, that, that was funny.
I kinda hate that you don't control your flashlight..

... Groovy!
... Groovy!
this is not groovy
Yeah, I like Ethan a lot more than I thought I would and more than I can really figure out exactly why. His dialogue is really great though. Like, at no point did he really seem to be an idiot who's completely unaware of his circumstances. And yeah, his little one-liners were great.
Sadly, as much as I'd love to see more of him, I'd honestly be worried that, like every other Resident Evil character, he'd be flanderized if he shows up in a future game. Like, the Not a Hero DLC could be a way to show if they can write older characters [sp](Well, supposedly older character. I guess we'll be finding that out as well,)[/sp] in a solid way as well. If so, then I might actually have hope for returning characters like post-RE7 Ethan or Leon or whoever to be well written.
Ethan's great but i wish his design was a little more interesting. like he could've had a cool coat ala RE4 Leon or nice shoes or some more gross stitches or something
the part in the beginning after [sp] you pick up the gun after getting your hand cut off by Mia [/sp] and Ethan angrily says "Okay, fine!" is one of the more classically Resident Evil moments in the game and I feel like no one talks about it

That was probably the moment Ethan became one of my favorite RE characters.
I feel as though the fact that your hand is [sp]removed[/sp] and not one sequence later it's [sp]unremoved[/sp] makes the ordeal somewhat pointless. Not to mention that you can have your leg [sp]removed[/sp] and it makes a sizeable impact on your ability to continue living.
Like how in RE4 the story makes a big deal about how you were infected by the parasite, but nothing about the gameplay makes you notice it.
