I feel as though the fact that your hand is [sp]removed[/sp] and not one sequence later it's [sp]unremoved[/sp] makes the ordeal somewhat pointless. Not to mention that you can have your leg [sp]removed[/sp] and it makes a sizeable impact on your ability to continue living. Like how in RE4 the story makes a big deal about how you were infected by the parasite, but nothing about the gameplay makes you notice it.
It'a actually gameplay and story integration if you think about it like this: [sp]the Mold influence has turned the Bakers into superhumans that can shrug off multiple bullets to the cranium and regenerate even if blown up and crushed. Ethan isn't as lengthily exposed and thus as influenced, but he can reattach his lost limbs with some First Aid Meds, and blocking attacks is actually surprisingly effective in how much damage it removes from hits. Ethan is basically a walking B.O.W., and if you consider Normal difficulty canon, he even slowly regenerates his health in a gameplay-based manner not unlike the Bakers - or Sherry, who story-wise gained healing powers from her virus in RE6 but didn't reflect it in gameplay.[/sp]
By the way, 7 made me want to play the update HD release of Resident Evil 4 on PC. Maybe a bit later, when I'll have more founds. I really don't know about 5 though: I bought it on the PS3 back in the days, but I was put off incredibly soon due to the African setting and the general suicidal tendencies of my mandatory NPC help
Wonder if the dev team for Resident Evil 7 are Fishcenter Live fans.[sp]the cop in the garage that gets his head chopped by Jack is apparently named David Anderson. David Anderson was a rather beefy crayfish on Fishcenter Live back in 2015 that was killed rather quickly by having its head bitten off[/sp]

The whole of the game is essentially an even more action-focused RE4 with a huge emphasis on relying on your friend. Didn't last long enough for me to think about it. I just referred to him as [sp]"rude black deputy man"[/sp]
I'm only 3 hours in, but I've lived in the south for quite awhile and it just sounds like they're trying too hard to be suutheraan. That and the dialogue between you and waifu is way off. "Well thats fucking special" part, that, that was funny.
it's a japanese developed game, the accent being off doesn't matter. it's still excellent. the dialogue between ethan and mia is realistic also, they're both kind of in shock. [editline]12th February 2017[/editline]
Ethan's great but i wish his design was a little more interesting. like he could've had a cool coat ala RE4 Leon or nice shoes or some more gross stitches or something
he did have pretty nice shoes [editline]12th February 2017[/editline]
I feel as though the fact that your hand is [sp]removed[/sp] and not one sequence later it's [sp]unremoved[/sp] makes the ordeal somewhat pointless. I just beat the game, it took me 8 hours but it didn't feel short at all, it's a satisfying game. That ending was interesting. Seems like there's way more to Ethan

Seems like there's way more to Ethan
You know, eight hours feels like the ideal length for any non-RPG non-sandbox non-strategy game. It gives you enough time that beating it in one sitting is unlikely, and isn't so long that pacing issues become apparent.
My girlfriend and all four of the LPers I've seen start RE7 have started off the game by talking shit about Mia's face in the opening video is it really that weird? :v: [editline]a[/editline] I mean she's certainly not my type but I was more concentrating on why she was on a ship and talking about babysitting [editline]a[/editline] And while we're at it, is it possible to not set off the alarm prior to [sp]Mia recording that second video in the opening? It threw me off that in the opening cutscene it's dead silence and darkness while later in the game I had a blaring alarm and flashing red lights[/sp]
it's pretty weird in the prerendered videos
mia in general looks all kinds of weird, idunno why. hair is complete shit-tier.
it's pretty weird in the prerendered videos
Guess I must've been distracted with plot at the time, it took me until seeing it a second time to notice the weird flowing neck chin thing she has going on
mia in general looks all kinds of weird, idunno why. hair is complete shit-tier.
The hair's a bunch of unaliased sprites that cast no shadows, so her face is consistently lit against all logic.
[t]http://i.imgur.com/xoNgEfs.png[/t] Whelp, time to put it in the box until some DLC comes out
But she doesn't make any sense, its the standard horror movie hodor we gotta get outta here hodor, she wont explain whats going on then snaps at you saying shes told you everything. Don't misunderstand, I am currently loving this game because its brought back fear to the series, does a better job than The evil within as well, it's just the voice acting in RE series has always bothered me. Like the muttafukka bit in the garage, that was comedic to me.
japan has some weirdly specific thing with decapitations, the chainsaw death in the japanese version of re4 was the same way
CERO in general has become vastly more stricter since the early 00's. Some of the censorship was even there in the 90's, but general delimbment and disfiguration is often censored by what seems to be a completely separate set of ratings from the usual stuff for them that specifically covers these kinds of things. To be too gory is to be labeled Adult-Only in its own unique way over there. It says a lot that the Berserk Musou kept the sexual content that Berserk is known for in Japan but censored the violence, while the west gets the violence intact while the sexual content was censored instead due to how prudish the west can be about bare tits in a game, much less [sp]explicit rape of a major female character by a main antagonist.[/sp] I feel like some scenes were originally made with the Japanese version in mind, though. Lucas getting stabbed in the arm at the dinner feels more appropriate than the US version where Jack stabs and then saws the hand off.
The Bezerk games advertising was disgusting, they kept focusing on one scene that is tonally intentionally designed to be horrific and upsetting instead of focusing on the brutal action and violence
-snip late-
Like the muttafukka bit in the garage, that was comedic to me.
That's honestly my favorite line. I think the problem is that you're not directly in Ethan's shoes. It'd probably be a lot more terrifying to hear "NOW LOOK WHAT YOU'VE DONE MOTHAFUCKA :)" when you've just narrowly survived this immortal beast out to kill you and he's getting out of a car on fire to come kill you some more.
To be honest, every time Jack Baker was on screen I pissed myself laughing so fucking much the horror element was completely lost on me
*destroys table* "God damn! How'm I gon replace dis?"
Just finished it, really enjoyed. Easily the best since 4.
To be honest, every time Jack Baker was on screen I pissed myself laughing so fucking much the horror element was completely lost on me
I cracked up every time they called me "Daddy." I was expecting them to say "cummies" at some point

So Ethan is going to join up with the rest of the REvengers right?
y'know considering the RE universe is it to far fetched to say Ethan probably had an encounter with zombies at least once? nothing like full on had to survive and fight situation but maybe he was at the airport when that outbreak happened in RE: Damnation and he just saw people getting eaten before he was able to safely escape, probably thinking about it to much but his reaction to some of the shit does seem kind of odd for a normal guy

Naturally, our protagonist's name is Ethan Winters, and this would be far from the first time in the series that a name in an earlier game suddenly has relevance in a later one. Insane Mia can mumble something about Ethan watching and hiding something from her, and while he could've been a desk jockey for all we know, his combat skills are surprisingly on-par with Mia's, he has extensive weapons and resource crafting skills, and even losing a hand doesn't really fuck with him much. His initially being scared can be summarized as being in a disadvantageous situation before he equals the ante.[/sp]
In so far as the comment [sp]Mia makes about him hiding something, I think that was just the influence of Eveline over her making her think anything awful about him.[/sp]
A normal person would have barfed after getting their hand cut off or go into a fetal position after the encounter with Mia.
To be fair loosing a hand would make anyone do that, he just suffers from the most deadly virus of all. Resident Evil Protagonist Syndrome. Where getting hurt or stabbed or shot is just a heal away, hell he probobly didn't even need to staple his hand back on, he could have just stuck it back on his stump and mixed in some medicine. [editline]edit[/editline] [sp]Either that or the mold is effecting him by that point nulling the pain, because even the most hardened individuals in real life might not be able to deal with a full on hand chop, not really sure.[/sp]
